Quiet stay & dog heaven
Quiet, quaint, rustic cottage on large property with tons of privacy - couldn’t even see any neighbors from the cottage. We visited in the off-season and there were 6 of us adults with 2 dogs. Beautiful property to sit out on the large deck or by the fire pit. Dogs loved being able to be off-leash, explore the woods, and swim.
If you’re looking for a fancy place in a tourist area with lots of dining/drinking establishments, this location isn’t for you, but if you want charm & quiet, this is the real deal. Bar Harbor is about 45 min. away by car or by the Winter Harbor ferry (highly recommend) which allows dogs. Bar Harbor is very walkable and dog friendly. We bought lobster & scallops at a seafood market in Winter Harbor and shopped for groceries at Winter Harbor Provisions which had a nice selection.
Cottage was clean with plenty of towels and pretty much everything we needed. While the kitchen was small, it was well appointed & even had some pantry items. Owner left us a bottle of wine which was really sweet & thoughtful. Fridge is on the small side so we were glad to have coolers to help with overflow food storage. Cell phone reception ok, but internet via phone was mostly non-existent. One minor maintenance issue (bathroom door in primary bedroom wouldn’t close), but other than that, the cottage was well-maintained.
We had lots of laughs playing cards & telling stories around the kitchen table. Wonderful stay….thank you!
