Moose Tracks Inn is a comfy, cozy cabin on a wooded lot in the mountains. This 1,200 sq. ft. cabin is perfect for relaxing or as a base to explore the area. Amenities include a large deck for additional outdoor space and a fire pit complete with log benches for roasting hot dogs and s'mores. Close to Yellowstone National Park (West entrance is 35 miles north), Island Park Reservoir, as well as ATV and hiking trails. Come and enjoy the tranquility a mountain cabin can offer!

Trip to Yellowstone

Before traveling to Idaho, I had a few questions for David, and he responded promptly. Upon our arrival to David's cabin, we found it clean and well appointed. During our stay, we had no complaints with the heat and water pressure. The location served our purposes. I would recommend David's cabin to future travelers.

Great Weekend

Thank you for letting us stay at your cabin. It was a quiet area in a great location to either stay and play in island park & Yellowstone. Our family had a blast! There was a mother moose and her 2 calves right outside the back deck one morning.

David accommodated us at the last minute. His cabin was perfect for the 3 of us. Located in a beautiful wooded neighborhood. Wildlife was active (deer and moose) on the property. Close drive to both National Parks.

Vacation

We had a nice stay at the Moose Tracks Inn. David was very helpful and responded very quickly to all our queries. The cabin was clean and spacious and the locality was quiet. The only downside was that it was very hot during the nights, even though fans were provided. Overall, a very nice place to stay.

Great Place to Stay to See Yellowstone

Place was very spacious and had all the amenities we needed. Even was stocked with all the coffee we needed/wanted. Definitely would recommend this place for people wanting to see Yellowstone as it's only 40 minutes away from the west entrance.

Great place and location

Moose tracks was a great little cabin that had everything we needed. We went here for a week of fishing and the location served as a great basecamp for us with all the rivers we wanted to fish within 50 minutes of us. The living space was perfect for 5 of us.

Great property

Our family had a great time at the cabin. It was a great mountain location and close to Yellowstone. Our kids really enjoyed the fire pit and being able to make dinner and s’mores. We ran into a small problem and David dropped everything to come help and went above and beyond. We appreciated that so much to make sure we were OK. We would recommend this property and can hardly wait to stay here again!

Clean and comfortable

The cabin had everything we needed and was clean and comfortable. It had a few more close neighbors than we hoped for but the neighborhood was pretty quite. It was very easy to get to and is close to many nice places to visit.

Wish we had had longer to enjoy it

The kids and I had a wonderful stay at the cozy and inviting wood/log cabin. It was well stocked with everything we could possibly need, including a flashlight on the shelf by the back door, a first-aid/emergency kit, games, books, a chest of extra blankets, laundry supplies (detergent pods and drier sheets), body wash in each shower, plenty of towels and places for them to dry, fans, a large cooking pot and serving bowl, treats to welcome us, and lots of bottled water (since there was a boil order for the area at the time). On top of that, the owner Dave was really easy to reach with a simple phone call when we had a question. Everything was well thought out and labeled (except for the electric fireplace which we couldn't figure out how to turn off completely) and clean and cute, without too much excess. We had been concerned about the stairs from other reviews, and they Were narrow but we did NOT find them slippery (our three-year-old could handle them) and there were handrails on both sides, just in case. We were there for only a couple days and spent our time traveling around Yellowstone National Park, but I really would have loved more time to just hang out at the cabin. All in all, I would DEFINITELY stay there again.

Such a fun Stay!

We had a great time at the cabin, clean, Well stocked and comfortable. We saw a Moose and 2 Bucks down the road from the cabin. We enjoyed Yellowstone, ATV trails, paddleboarding on the river near by, Harriman Horseback riding (absolutely beautiful) and the ropes course at West Yellowstone. We also had fun watching all of the Lord Of the Rings movies in the evening!

Relaxing and cozy cabin

Enjoyed our Yellowstone trip and loved coming back to the cabin each eve to hang out before bed. Hosts were welcoming and responded promptly to communications and the cabin was set up well with basic necessities. Plenty of room for our family (6 of us)!

Cozy Cabin to Enjoy after long day at YNP

Our family of 6 (2adults and 4 kids (ages 9-14)) enjoyed the cozy cabin. Our kids loved sleeping in the loft. The living room was so comfortable with 5 reclining chairs — perfect for movie nights. The kitchen had everything we needed and more although no dishwasher. It was really nice having a washer and dryer to use for laundry. There is a large deck and fire pit. One morning we spotted a mother and child moose from the cabin. It is about a 40/45 minute drive to YNP. I did have a few questions upon arrival that the owner answered very quickly. One of the showers is pretty small but other than that everything in the cabin meets or exceeds expectations. We would definitely stay here again.

Home Away From Home

Cabin exactly like we envisioned

This was our first trip to Idaho and the Yellowstone region. Dave’s cabin was exactly like we envisioned. It was clean, cozy, and comfortable. We cooked almost every night and the kitchen was well stocked. Loved having the crockpot! Our 4 year old grandson slept in the loft with Grandpa. They were very comfortable up there. The weather in September was warm (not hot and humid like Louisiana) and gorgeous. We used the Nest controlled gas fireplace during the cooler nights. That was a nice touch, Dave. We would definitely stay in Moose Tracks Inn again!

Nice Little Cabin in the Woods

Overall, we had a great stay. Here are my pros/cons: Pros: *Looks - some of the houses in the area look like crappy mobile homes. We wanted a cabin in the woods feel and that's exactly what this is. *Neighborhood - A quiet wooded area. There are other houses in this little neighborhood, but we never heard anyone else. *Inside - The cabin is not huge, but they definitely made the most of their space. I liked the open main floor with the loft area for the kids to sleep. The sound bar was a nice touch that I was not expecting as well as the provided Roku. *Deck - the back deck is very spacious with nice provided shade. We ate dinner out there every day and I often just lounged out there. The temperatures were great and I enjoyed relaxing there. There is also a grill and a fire pit, but we did not use those. Cons: *No dishwasher. Now I knew this when I booked it. Still, would have been nice. *Loft stairs - the stairs leading up to the loft are VERY steep. My teenage son fell down the stairs, but fortunately was not hurt very badly. Even knowing that he fell and even with railings on both sides I almost fell as well. The carpet there just seems slippery as well. The steepness and slipperiness is just a bad combination. With no bathroom up there if the kids had to go in the middle of the night they had to traverse those tricky stairs in the dark. *Bathroom - this is a bit nitpicky, but the bathroom by the master bedroom is extremely tiny and we basically avoided using it unless absolutely necessary. *TV - very nitpicky, but the TV does have a dead pixel. *Neighbor - there was one very rude neighbor. Yes, I know about the 10 mph speed limit and yes we were going over maybe 20 mph. But one time after coming back after a day out a neighbor came over in a huff. I was already inside, but my teenage son was outside getting his stuff out of our vehicle and this person approached my son in an angry voice. I'm not happy about someone I don't know approaching my son in a place I'm not familiar with. He could have been trying to kidnap him for all I knew. I opened the front door to talk to him and he starts yelling about us racing through the roads at 40 mph. We were going no where near 40 in the neighborhood so I thought maybe he was talking about the main road that has a speed limit of 50. When I asked him to clarify which roads he proceeded to swear at me. I remained calm and closed the door and fortunately never saw him again.
