Travel down a charming, privately gated drive to escape in our lakefront retreat! Enjoy the entire house tucked away on the shoreline of Lake James. Our 4BR/3.5BA sits on a wooded ridge and offers lovely views of two main channels, along with Mount Mitchell and Short Off Mountain. Relax on the decks, in the screened porch or by the outdoor fireplace and see some of the best sunsets around! The private dock offers space to keep a rented boat.
**The owner has a 25ft Bennington pontoon available for an additional daily fee of $450 or ask about a weekly discount. This rental is separate from the Vrbo booking. Ask the agent to refer you to the boat contact where you can discuss exact pricing.**

The gated community is privately maintained and roads must be shared. This is a one lane road with turnouts and directional signs for owners. Directions will be supplied prior to arrival date. We recommend that, in Winter months, guests check weather conditions prior to booking and drive appropriate vehicles.
The home's layout is very spacious and offers two levels of living space. The main level offers a den off the entryway with lake views, a large bedroom with 2 beds to one side, and 2 additional bedrooms on the other side. There are 2 full hall baths on this level, one is ensuite.
The upper level has a large open floor plan with the kitchen, dining, and living room. This level has open long range lake views as well. The screen porch is off the dining room and offers lake and mountain views. The master bedroom is on the upper level with a full ensuite bath. The half bath is located off the kitchen and dining area. The laundry is on this level behind closed doors off the kitchen. There are lake views from almost every room of this home and plenty of exterior areas to enjoy just hanging out and relaxing.

*We just completed an internet upgrade to StarLink.* Our community is remote, gated, and on a private road, so we do not have established portals available to us at this time. This is a common issue around Lake James. If you need to stream, please disconnect all other devices so that you have the strongest signal possible.

Lake James is conveniently located between Charlotte and Asheville, NC. We are about an hour from regional/international airports if needed. We are close to Old Fort, Black Mountain, Banner Elk, Beech Mountain, Boone, and Blowing Rock. We are in the back yard of Linville Gorge where there are many trails to hike, mountain bike trails, kayaking, and other nearby attractions. Just ask your host about things to do.

Luxury with a view

The house was one of the nicest we’ve stayed in, plenty of room for three families. Our 3 and 4 year old kids loved swimming and using the slide. The hosts were quick to fix a problem with the water pump for the slide and very responsive to any questions. The kitchen is very well stocked and we used the grill as well. The house is also not a really long drive in, unlike some properties on the lake. We’re already talking about when we can come back.

Secluded Lake House - Outdoor Amenities

Visited home on Memorial Day weekend. Cannot say enough great things. Location: Lake James is very large, deep lake, but with state park and camping facilities on a large portion, the houses are limited compared to other lakes and crowds are very light. Easy to reach just a few miles off highway. House: One of the best stocked houses ever stayed in with almost anything you could need. Very comfortably housed 2 families of 5 in 4 bedrooms. Fully stocked kitchen, games, bedrooms. Outdoor fireplace on a turf grass backyard with large wood storage. Expansive outdoor deck with ample seating and a covered porch with pool table. High up on cliff overlooking beautiful section of lake. Activities: Long stairway down to dock area. May be difficult for anyone with challenges walking up stairs. Paddle Boards, Kayaks, extra seating, diving board and slide all on dock provided hours of fund. Owner will rent personal boat / jet ski to guests only for additional fee (docked right at house). Already looking into booking again. Spent most of the time on lake, but drove 25 min to Linville Wilderness area for hiking and stopped at Fonta Flora brewery and farm on way back. Keep the lake a secret as long as can.

Mountain Lake Get-Away

This is a beautiful, clean, and very well stocked home with Spectacular Views of Lake James. We loved having the master up on the main level and the remaining bedrooms with an additional living area downstairs for our adult age children and their partners. The kitchen was very large and well stocked. We really enjoyed the pool table on the back porch and the built in Sonos Sound system throughout the entire home. We enjoyed coffees each morning and evening cocktails on the deck overlooking the lake. So peaceful!!! Booking and corresponding with Karen was easy and effortless. I strongly suggest renting the pontoon boat from the homeowner, who is also a pleasure to work with! This allowed us to enjoy the entire lake while trolling around admiring the other lakefront homes and searching for fish. We definitely look forward to future vacation Get-Aways at this beautiful home!!!

Wonderful place for a peaceful getaway. Lake James is beautiful and there are gorgeous views from every room. The house is so comfortable and beautifully furnished. This is a really nice property, on a great spot on the lake. House is very nice and comfortable. Outside views are remarkable. Property management is very responsive and handled communications quickly. Highly recommend you rent the boat; once you see the lake you will want to spend time on it. Nebo area is pretty quiet-which is what we wanted. Lake James State Park and Fonta Flora Brewery should not be missed.

Great family vacation spot

The home and the lake are both gorgeous. Our family had a wonderful time with all of the water toys- including the kayaks, the slide, and of course the pontoon boat. The home is well stocked with kitchen necessities. The new deck tables and chairs provided a great view for outdoor dining. The views are well worth the stair climb from the dock!!

Simply Gorgeous House and Views

After our confirmed VRBO property cancelled last minute due to septic issues (thankfully it didn't happen during our vacation) I was heartbroken. But this property popped up (they had a last minute cancellation) and life was good again- I booked immediately. The house is fantastic. More than we needed (only 5 of us) but each of my kids got their own rooms and were thrilled. The views are unmatched. Windows everywhere and the house is strategically placed for inspiring sunsets. Yes, a sunset cruise is great but when you can stay on the balcony or hang in one of the swings and watch from the comfort of your space...simply perfect. Tons of sitting spaces in the house. All the rooms are good size and the kitchen had everything we needed. A wonderful kitchen island made making meals and sharing cocktails together while making said meals a real family affair. The owner was fantastic (thanks Risa!) and Karen was ultra responsive. Both highly communicative and answered all my questions. We rented the pontoon and had a wonderful experience. Smart TV's throughout so you have access to all your streaming services. Wifi worked just fine. Bluetooth speakers in house to play music. Yes, there are 101 steps down to the dock but it isn't as horrible as you may think. Obviously something to consider if you have mobility problems. The only bad part about the whole week is we had to leave-I should have booked 2 weeks. Next time!

The best stocked vrbo we've ever stayed in. Loved the layout with lots of smaller spaces for conversation and games. would definitely consider staying here again. The only drawback was the 100 steps to the dock.

Outstanding property! First class experience! We continue to talk about the property view of Lake James from every window in the home! The home is so well kept, furnishings are top notch, beds super comfy, huge kitchen with all the necessary utensils for cooking up BIG family dinners.
