Fun little beach front home

This house was super cute and just what we needed for our trip. You literally walk off the deck and into the sand, which was amazing. The house wasn’t incredibly clean (towels had spots, sheets were older feeling, sand/sticks were in the house) but nothing that impeded our stay. The WiFi was also pretty slow and had to reconnect often. Only other fyi I would throw out was that the bathrooms were a little tight (can’t open the shower door in master if the bathroom door was open). We didn’t really use the kitchen, but everything looked well kept. The house is on the main road in gulf shores, but about 10 minutes from the main downtown area, which was nice! It was pretty quiet, but we went in November so it was off season. Overall it served its purpose and I wouldnt mind staying here again! :)

We enjoyed Coastal Calm!

This home is in a great location and was very comfortable and clean. With a couple of improvements (better curtains and repairs to the downstairs shower drain) it would be my forever house for a vacation!

Great location

We stayed from September 7th-14th and had a wonderful time. The house is beautifully located steps from the beach which was very nice. The house could use some TLC (weak flooring in several spots, living room fan looks sketchy, etc.) Overall, it survived the aftereffects of Hurricane Francine. On Wednesday night my bed shook about all night from the wind and the next morning the outdoor lighting fixture was on the porch broken and outdoor furniture was scattered in different places. We would definitely stay here again for the location.

Coastal Calm & Vacasa don’t care about client safety!

The air conditioner worked flawlessly, I also enjoyed buying and adjustable rod to secure sliding door so my family could leave the house without worrying about anyone entering through the broken door. I really like that Vacasa is more worried about the Wi-Fi than customer safety!

House Needs Work

The property location is great. The property itself is not. There were several electrical issues (not plates on plugs leaving wires exposed, loose plugs, ceiling fan not attached to the ceiling). Bathroom was not clean (pubic hair on the floor at check in, shower would not drain). Outdoor furniture broken (couch on patio was falling apart, coffee was also broken). Dryer I believe was clogged; it took at least (2) drying cycles to dry (2) towels at a time.

Great location! AC works great! I suggest having more towels. We were washing towels a lot. We were never notified of a maintenance worker coming to the house. I was upstairs and learned from my son there was a guy working on the refrigerator. My autistic daughter let him on and he never announced himself. Scary moment when some stranger is in the house. Better communication on that piece.

Bare bones unit

Do not rent from Vacasa! The unit needs so much TLC. No blankets on the beds, lights flickering in kitchen, lights didn’t work in the bedroom, broken patio furniture (that was fun 🙄), broken rails on stairs, broken kitchen drawers that were falling out (apparently this is Vacasa’s calling card-2nd property I’ve stayed in from them that had this issue). I could literally go on and on but I’ll spare you. Just don’t choose this place mainly because it’s listed with Vacasa and they DO NOT maintain homes. The house would do better just turning over on its own and not having a rental company. It’s really a sad situation. The location is amazing and it’s a great view. It’s unfortunate that the house is in such poor shape. The pictures sure look nice though.

Renters beware:

Upon arrival the place was dirty, blood in the shower, SO much brown soap scum in shower, clogged shower drain, hair and crusty stuff on the sheets, white banister gray from grime . They sent the cleaner out who came in with yellow mystery cleaner in a windex bottle and microfiber cloth. She cleaned the the bloody shower for us to go back in and inspect and point out the blood she missed (again), head upstairs to show her the scum that’s still on the tiles and she throws her hands in the air and says “I clean, no English!” And they just leave. So we end up going to Walmart at 8pm to buy cleaning supplies and bedding and spend the next 2 hours cleaning. The next morning the upstairs shower starts leaking downstairs down the light fixture over the breakfast bar. They send out Vasca guy he unclogged shower drain downstairs and he can’t figure out why upstairs it’s leaking but discovers the hall light is blinking like crazy and try’s to fix that. They next day they sent out an actual plumber and he assessed the shower and says the shower pan needs to be ripped out. We also discovered none of the bedroom doors have locks. So that was interesting with kids. 🤦‍♀️ They next day we come up from the beach to find a Vasca guy in house unannounced, no text or phone call just lets himself in. Literally everyday was something new. Beds not comfortable, futon couch not comfortable. Thankfully we are beach people and the wether was good so we spent as much time outside as possible because the place was just so gross. It looks like there is tons of water damage that was never repaired, laminate floor sticking up on all 4 corners, all the sheet rock around the window in living room caving in due to rot and the kitchen floor is rotten in the middle, it’s only a matter of time before someone falls through. The manger for the place made excuses and said she personally ”never books during the fall because the houses are beat up all summer and the can’t get in and clean them.” Maybe don’t book them solid so you can get in and make repairs!?! 🤷‍♀️ Very unprofessional. They refunded our cleaning fee and reimbursed the $98 we spent at Walmart. But that doesn’t cover the daily stress, and time away from the beach to meet the 3 different contractors or the bait and switch. This was our one vacation with our family so we tried to make the best of it. Please also note that we never review places like this but we wanted to warn the future renters. The place needs to be completely revamped/repaired (possibly gutted) and they need a more professional property manager. I would love to post all the picture and videos we had taken but unfortunately you can’t add that here!

Not clean....

The amount of dust/dirt in the light fixtures was enough for me to clean the showers myself before I allowed my kids in their. The thick sticky dirt on top of the fridge at me and my husbands eye level was disgusting! Visible dusts/cobwebs on bathroom light fixtures...if you are paying for a cleaning service, it should be super cheap or get someone else! The rusted curtain rods and actively peeling paint from the ceiling was a perfect compliment to the broken sliding glass doors to outside balcony from the main living room! The doors were basically useless unless you were strong enough to pry them open and shut! When we arrived on first day, couldnt figure out why the master bedroom was so hot and NOT cooling off at all. After looking further, we noticed one of the sliding glass doors was completely off the track and about an inch open to the elements. My husband had to physically lift the door back onto the tracks to be able to close it. Getting ready for bed the first night when we turned all lights off except for a lamp, it shown on the back wall all the dust that was stuck to the walls in the room. One the second night, we were unable to watch tv in more than one room at a time, tv kept stating too many were watching/streaming direct tv...no other tv was on except the living room and was trying to tuen on the master room. Called the vacasa rep who in turn called the owners...they came by sometime the next day and fixed the problem...which lasted for 24 hours. After that, we were once again unable to watch tv in more than one room. My husband was highly irritated at this point and decided it was pointless to call again. Overall, disappointed in the house itself. You are basically paying for the LOCATION of the home, NOT the home itself. We read that the home needed updating in a review dated April 2022...we just assumed it would have been taken care of by now (end of august beginning of Sept 2022).

Great family rental!

The location of the house was great! Right on the beach with easy access right from the house. Super quick drive to the main tourist shops. The house itself was nice and tidy. The living/kitchen area was great for hanging out as a family and eating meals. The house had all the pots, pans, dishes, and silverware we needed. Plenty of room in the bedroom. The beds were ok, the mattresses probably need updating. Overall, the property was very nice and we enjoyed our stay! We would stay here again.

Great place overall

This place was a great place to stay. The house itself was very clean. The distance to the beach was a game changer. The manager and company was very friendly and helpful. There were a few things as to why it wasn’t 5 star overall. The first thing we had to do when we arrived was wash the sheets, because it seemed the beds were just made after the previous guest left and not cleaned. There was no gas grill as stated in the listing, but the neighbors were nice enough to let us use the charcoal one they had on their side. There was a coffee maker but the pot was missing. Then the microwave stopped working on the first morning there. These were all unfortunate things to happen, but the company and local manger was very quick and helpful to resolve most of these issues. One thing from experience and advise to anyone else renting houses is to check the AC/furnace filter when you get there. They seem to alway have to be changed. One last thing that was a little inconvenient was that all the tvs had cable boxes, but one one tv could use the cable service at a time. So if you are watching tv in the living room and kids want to watch something in their room the people in the living room would have to shut theirs off. Overall though we all were very pleased with our stay.

Spring Break break away

Loved the location!!! You walk right out your back door to the beach anytime. The view was fabulous. There were some things in the house that needed to be fixed. That is my only complaint and it is minor. It was the perfect trip to take my daughter and her friends on for their senior spring break! Thank you for sharing you property!

coastal calm

Please read the entire post! Our unit was perfect. It was our annual sibling trip for 3 couples and it was location, location, location. However, the property just transferred to new owners, the beds needed updating, the unit wasn't as clean as we wanted it to be and this unit could use some freshening up. There was some unrepaired damage to the floor from water but they also just had a bad storm. We will definitely be back. It was easy come, easy go with digital check in.
