The south facing balcony overlooks the tree and flower filled neighbouring gardens to woods and fields in the distance. The setting provides a calm environment with birdsong night and day with owls, bats, swallows and housemartins all visiting.
The balcony provides a comfortable alfresco breakfast or for apéros and star gazing. We provide a choice of deckchairs, table and chairs, a parasol, candles and solar lamp.
The apartment is located within a couple of minutes stroll from a couple of bars, three restaurants, a baker and an excellent general store as well as a weekly market on Thursday mornings.
There is a also a doctors, pharmacy, hairdressers, tobacconnist, paper/stationery shop, tourist office with printing facilities and an artisan leather and ceramics shop as well as other artist galleries.
The chateau and museum of Prehistory with its goreous free entry gardens offering a wide view of the local countryside is located within a 10 minute stroll via the villages medieval streets.
The village has a heated open air pool in July and August - 5 minutes away across the park on foot.
There are plenty more swimming and canoeing opportunities in local lakes and rivers.
The apartment provides a great base for exploring the regions wealth of historic towns and villages, chateaux, vineyards and peaceful rolling countryside.
The property provides flexible accommodation to suit your needs. We provide child and baby equipment on request.
The apartment has fast fibre Wifi and a desk, task light, plenty of sockets providing a calm and professional location for #WFM working from home.
We have lived in the area since 2006 our favourite days out include the following, we are very happy to help you plan your days out with plenty of circular routes to enjoy.
Cycle via the voie verte to Preuilly sur Claise to enjoy lunch at le Lavoir.
A walk around the sculpture park in Beaulieu les Loches and either lunch at the les Javaneses Guingette in Summer or at our favourite l'Estaminet.
Loches is a must see and only 30km away so many of our guests head there on bikes however parking is also easily found.
Market day is Wed and Sat morning and provides a fabulous atmosphe to the historic town centre.
There is so much to see and recommend in Loches you may want to return!
Highlights for us are:
The circular stroll from parking via the Jardin Public and up through the historic town to the Donjon and Palais Royale from where the views are superb.
Once you have built up an appetite..
The George retaurant - brunch or just top grub.
le P'tit Restau - small but perfectly formed seasonal, cooked from scratch, local and organic - must book!
Sforza - delicious pizza
Café des Arts - the best place to pause and watch the world go by, Whether for coffee, apéros, lunch, excellent service all year round. We love their local and seasonal grazing boards to snack on.
Cycling along the voie verte on a Sunday morning 12km to Descartes to the lively market. Coffee and a croissant watching the world go by followed by either buying the makings of a great picnic to take to the park or river or a hot roast chicken or Paella to return to the apartment with.
We are located close to where the Brenne national park starts, a vast wildlife sanctuary made up over over 1000 lakes. Great for immersing in nature, birdwatching, walking, cycling (mostly flat!) and a delicious lunch at the Gabriere or le Petit Gab or in the centrally located Maison du Parc - the local specialty to try as a sharing plate is Fritures de Carpe - deep fried baby carp.
North of our apartment there is a wealth of great days out where with a little planning you never need to take the same road twice.
Vineyards in Chinon, Saumur, Montlouis, Vouvray and more.
Chateaux and gardens in Tours, Chenonceau, Villandry, Amboise, Azay le Ferron, Azay le Rideau, Angles sur Anglin and many many more.
