Best Sámara House

Amazing house!! This is our second stay in this house. It’s a great location, feels very private and surrounded by jungle. But so close to the beach and Sámara. We really enjoy the location, the house has everything you need, AC is cool, and the pool is a highlight. Our kids love swimming in the pool, and there is plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy either the sunshine or shade. We also love all the wildlife. We saw iguanas, coatis, and raccoons regularly running across the back patio and outside which are fun and beautiful, and howler monkeys visited us one morning in the tree right beside the patio. Such a great place, host is very responsive. We can’t wait to come back! Truly the perfect place!!

Beautiful property

We had a wonderful time at this property. House and groundswere beautiful and well kept. Loved hearing the howler monkeys in the morning, and our kids enjoyed the pool. Was very private and felt safe. Enjoyed being away from the noise in Sámara. A couple small upgrades would be nice in the kitchen, the coffee maker took a very long time to brew probably needs to be replaced and there are two blenders but neither work. Other than that kitchen was functional. Would stay here again.

Week stay with small children

The house was perfect for our stay. We were two families travelling with a 5 and 4 year old and a 18 month old. Location is great, it feels very private! There were all sorts of animals, iguanas and bugs that visited us everyday, the kids (most of the time) loved seeing them so close! I would say if you are travelling with kids you definitely need some sort of vehicle to get into town, quite a far walk for little kids. Caroline was so helpful and quick to respond! She booked a dolphin tour for us and it was so easy! We really appreciated that! The pool was so nice to have to cool off in the evenings or first thing in the morning and the outdoor shower was SO great to wash all the sand off the kids at the end of the day! We would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Enjoyed a great stay!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here! We enjoyed being out in Samara during the day to come back and cool down in the pool was delightful. The house had all the utensils you would need including a BBQ. The check in process with Ridley was great! Ridley and John were easy to contact with quick responses. Thankyou so much for your hospitality during our vacation to costa rica!

Perfect getaway close to beach

Loved our stay in this beautiful and well equipped house! It was gorgeous, tucked away in the jungle. Lots of animals and birds visited, and the location was quiet and safe. It was a short drive (or walk) to Samara with plenty of restaurants and our favorite beach in Costa Rica. My kids swam in the pool a lot, it was perfect to have when we weren’t at the ocean. I will highly recommend this house to friends and family, and we will absolutely look to stay here again next time.

Amazing private house great family with pool, AC, large patio, and washer

We stayed for a second time at Pochote. We absolutely love this house and location. It is a quick drive into Samara, but nice to be nestled in the rainforest with complete privacy. The house is well equipped, and we enjoyed cooking meals and eating outside. The beds are very comfortable and the house was clean. We loved being so close to the monkey and iguanas and coatis. We enjoyed to pool and patio and hammocks. It is a real treat to stay at Casa Pochote a second time. Thank you! We hope to return again!

Amazing!

The peacefulness and tranquility of Casa Pochote is above and beyond any place we have ever stayed in the world! It is secluded in the jungle yet so close to many beaches and adventures. Thank you Tyron for always responding to my questions and needs so quickly- you were so helpful! We loved the pool when we were not at the beach it was a welcome reprieve. The kitchen is well equipped, bedrooms were comfortable, and we loved the hammocks for reading in the morning. Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us!!

Such a lovely place!

We had a wonderful time on our recent trip to Sámara and couldn’t have been happier with this property! It was welcoming and felt like home. The kitchen was well stocked with cookware and dishes and we enjoyed grilling outside in the evenings while enjoying the cool breeze by the pool. We loved lounging in the hammocks and listening to the wildlife. There is a lovely secluded beach within walking distance that you simply must see. We will definitely return and can’t imagine staying anywhere but this lovely villa.

Amazing house in great location!

We had a wonderful time at casa pochote. It’s a beautiful house and we liked being on the outskirts of town in the jungle. Our kids loved seeing the wildlife of giant iguanas, coatis, hummingbirds, and a whole clan of monkeys who came by for a visit in the trees right outside one day. The pool was also wonderful and the beds and whole house is very comfortable for a family. Thank you John! We hope to return!

Casa Pochote

This property is incredible. It’s so peaceful, so private, and so immersed. It feels like you are in forest! The trees, the birds, the flowers and lots wildlife! The property manager and owner are the greatest people and we’re so helpful and accommodating. We are so grateful. If you like to be outside and enjoy the jungle and all it’s sounds and critters this is your place, the patio is huge and so beautiful! It feels like a little private slice of jungle heaven! We loved every minute!

A beautiful and peaceful place in Samara

This is a wonderful property - lovely casa, very private with a small pool, a palapa area with hammocks to rest in and nice landscaping. It is surrounded by the jungle - we could hear monkeys at night!! The Loma Verde area is very quiet and peaceful. It is not far from Samara and the beach - an easy car ride. or some use ATVs, bikes, golf carts or just walk or jog. Be prepared for about 1 km of dirt road to the turn off to the Loma Verde gate as it is quite bumpy. Apparently it gets graded 2 times per year.

Great stay in the jungle

Property was in a nice secluded location up a concrete road in the jungle. We saw monkeys, lizards, coati and a racoon from the pool deck. While we were able to keep the space cool with the 2 smaller A/C units, the main A/C unit was not working when we were there. We spent most of the time in the pool or lounging in the hammocks and everything else worked great. If you go to Samara make sure to make a reservation in advance at Gustos for Friday or Saturday (fire show) and skip Dolce Vita (way too expensive). Also the local property contact Tyron is great, he met us in town and took us up to the property and was available if we needed anything. Thanks!

An Exceptional Stay

The five of us, including our son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter, spent a wonderful eight days at this exceptional Villa. The house was large, open and airy, so air conditioning was only needed at night. Meals were easily prepared in the well stocked kitchen and dining was always al fresco. The BBQ worked like a charm and came in very handy; we cooked outside every night. Our granddaughter was in the pool constantly and joined by others frequently. The location was totally private and quiet which was a relief after spending time in the hustle and bustle of Samara. We enjoyed a meal at Soda Samarena just a few minutes walk from the Casa and Super Iguana Verde was a well stocked store a few minutes drive or 12 minute walk away.. Another positive aspect of our experience was that we always received very prompt and helpful responses to our inquiries of the owners and the property manager and his assistant. Big thumbs up! Finally, we would be remiss in not mentioning the wildlife. It was a delight to see iguanas, coatis, raccoons, and parrots, and to hear howler monkeys. Our granddaughter was thrilled! We would highly recommend this Villa and would love to visit again.

Amazing private house in the rainforest!

We had an amazing one week stay at this private house in the rainforest that’s only 5 minutes driving from a secluded beach! Our kids (ages 9, 10, 12) did a Spanish summer camp in town (Sámara) and it was a close enough drive. The backyard is beautiful and literally like living in the rainforest! We saw so many cool creatures in our backyard from huge iguanas, crabs, and coatis daily. The pool is small but was enjoyable for relaxing and for our kids to play in. We used the BBQ outside which was great! The house was very spacious, clean, and had almost anything you would need including a boogie board for our kids to use at the beach. The master bedroom is the only one without AC but it wasn’t a problem and there are several fans as well as AC in all the other rooms. The only minor things missing were a blow dryer and a peeler. The washing machine worked well and we hung our clothes dry since there’s no dryer which was fine. There are also laundry services close by within driving distance. The owner/managers were very responsive. We loved our stay!

A gem of a house in Samara!

Loved our stay at this little home away from home in Samara! It’s a quick car ride or 10/15 min walk to the beach. Our family of 4 fit very comfortably in this house with house layout and the 2 bathrooms. Our kids (11y and 8y) had an absolute blast in the gorgeous pool. The yard landscaping is ideal for privacy and such special visits from the iguanas, butterflies and coatis. There are howler monkey families at the bottom and top of the hill. We made dinner most nights at this lovely home and ate outside on the nice tables. Many naps were had and books were read in the awesome hanging hammocks! Samara is such a nice beach and an even nicer community. We had the best time with Berny with Nature Tours Samara who gave us such an amazing turtle tour at Punta Islita (45 min away) and since he was so great and we had the most incredible experience watching a Ridley sea turtle lay eggs and babies hatch- we booked another snorkeling kayaking tour off samara beach with him off this little adjacent island. It was absolutely incredible! Highly recommended! Don’t hesitate to spend your next vacation in samara at Casa Pochote- John is such a gracious host and provides everything one needs for a beautiful vacation home in paradise! He responds so quickly and is overly accommodating. Ridley, his property manager is the nicest guy and similarly, responds so quickly to every need and question. We will be definitely be back! Muchas gracias for a fantastic stay in Samara, John!

Great week in the tropical dry forest!

My family really enjoyed staying in this home. We stayed very close by last year and knew we loved this location in the Samara area. It was private, clean, and comfortable. The kitchen was well-provisioned and we cooked all breakfasts + several meals in it. It had a functioning ice maker (major pro)! The pool was wonderful and my kids lived in it all week. The best was the large palapa (& its hammocks) for relaxing, kids playing in the shade, and eating meals. We were surrounded by lots of wildlife (always something we seek in Costa Rica). The only con or trivial comment was the layout of the house & the A/C units. We are used to A/C only being in the bedrooms. Unfortunately, this house had A/C on the shady side of the casa in the living areas. This resulted in no privacy for the bedrooms because doors had to be open & fans running to cool down the rooms. And the small bedroom on the afternoon sunny side (lack of breeze side) of the house was quite hot in the evening. [At the end of our stay, they were working to prep and install a unit for this bedroom]. The loft was cool with an A/C unit up in it, but we didn't want our kids (4&5) going up/down stairs in the dark if they needed us. So just to note if you are traveling with more than just your family - you will not have room privacy in order to sleep comfortably in either the loft or the master (have to open wall slats to get cool air from living area). We made it work obviously and still really enjoyed our stay!
