My family & I stayed here for 6 days & 7 nights. I was hesitant b/c of some of the reviews which I wanted to take the time to explain or dispel. The property is in New Orleans East which in itself is not a safe area. However, the resort is a hidden gem. It has a secure gate & security. I felt very safe moving about day or night.
I did not have a problem with the shower pressure. I did, however, have a problem with space. I am 5’2 & about 140lbs. It was near impossible to wash my hair while remaining in the shower. Forget shaving. There is zero space to put soaps etc. I HATE brushing up against the curtain & there was definitely no helping that. I also nearly gave myself a concussion when I went to rinse my hair hitting my head on the wall, I wound up taking 2 showers while there. Also, I would not recommend using the bathrooms by the pool.
The restaurant was awesome. We wished we would have known about the rec room in the back sooner!
For the most part communication wasn’t a problem. It’s better to go into the gift shop & speak to whoever is there though. I think that is who runs it. Outside of “business hours” it was hard to reach anyone. You do get a number for security.
You do have to pay for WiFi if you want WiFi which I felt was ridiculous. I’ve never stayed anywhere in today’s age that charged for that & don’t recall noting it in the description . I have hot spots on my phone plan so we made do.
There was no pot to boil water i asked & thus bought one. I’d recommend making sure you have toiletries, extra tp, paper towels, and I’d probably bring your own pillows. The beds were super comfortable and so were the pillows if you were sitting up. But laying down, you sank into the bed and your head was atop this very thick, not really giving, pillow. Make sure you also bring laundry stuff. This location doesn’t provide as much as other rentals do. The TVs were much better than other rentals I’ve stayed at. Overall, Comfortable. Great views, pool, hot tub, & restaurant were all pluses.
THE MAJOR DETRACTOR: I don’t think we would have booked if we knew half way through our trip we were going to be told we had to move our van all the way across the property (across the canal) and deal with paving that started at 6 am. It was loud enough to rattle windows. It was also not fun or convenient to carry our 4 year old and whatever other luggage that distance. Not cool. I was told “it wasn’t there fault” but it def wasn’t ours.
