The Neighborhood:
Most people know about West Philadelphia from the show The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. The famous theme song intro put West Philly on the map and since 1990, the neighborhood has been enshrouded in a Will Smith mystique. But there's more to West Philadelphia than just that one verse.

Philadelphia is known for being a city comprised of diverse neighborhoods that were once independent towns. Over a few centuries, these towns were engulfed as the city expanded.

Once you cross the Schuylkill River along Center City’s western banks, West Philadelphia is a city on its own filled with Victorian mansions, an intricate network of trollies, an artist scene, and vibrant immigrant communities unlike any other section of Philadelphia.

If you come to Philadelphia and don’t go to West Philly, you're missing out!

Getting Around:
Philadelphia, one of the country’s most walkable cities, is incredibly easy to navigate either by foot or by public transportation. That just leaves one question: Where to park the car?

On-Street Parking
Philadelphia has thousands of metered spots throughout the city, perfect if you only plan to park for an hour or two.

For paid long-term parking, we'd be happy to share options with you once you book.

For moving around, you'll also find several bus stops, bike ride-sharing stations, and subway stations.

Otherwise, we recommend moving around the city using Uber or Lyft - its fairly affordable!

History

My family & I came home for a short time for a sad occasion. When I saw the school that so many of my friends attended had been turned into lofts, I immediately jumped on the opportunity to stay here for the history of the building itself. My mom & aunt's were graduates of West Catholic for Girls & I graduated from Overbook so the architecture of the building automatically drew me in. We rented 2 units so we could spread out comfortably. The rental itself is very tastefully decorated & clean when we arrived. We booked very last minute but response from the property management was super quick. We were provided instructions on everything we needed to gain access to the units, WiFi & checkout. We stayed in units 344 & 351. Once you arrive, you have to be let into the building by the security/concierge, but once you access your unit, a key fob for building access is provided. The queen bed was smaller than our king bed but very comfortable. We found either a washer or washer dryer combo in the closet of the loft bedroom along with a few hangers. A Keurig with a nice assortment of kpods & condiments were handy for morning coffee. There's a 7-Eleven a block/short walk away for a quick trip for forgotten essentials. Our only issue during our stay was the heating & cooling system would go off in the night making for a very cold trip to the bathroom, which is on the lower level of the loft. Towels were provided but a bath mat wasn't so we had to lay paper towels down for our shower so the floor wasn't slick with water & the towel bar was broken but we're not fussy so we made due. The huge windows and the interior hallways of the building reminded me of my classrooms and we really enjoyed the common area with the game tables and the leather furniture. Along with the vintage & antique pieces throughout the large room with floor to ceiling glass walls, it was pretty nostalgic and I loved it. My family enjoyed seeing the pictures I took & was amazed. I only wished there were photos or a map of what each space was in it's former life & Being from West Philly, I knew the area & how to navigate it & the parking situation but if you're not familiar, there's only on-street parking on a 1st come basis. Just pay attention to the signs posted so you have no worries with being booted or towed. Trust me, you don't want that. Over all, I definitely enjoyed our stay here & would certainly stay again.
