This home was built by Valentine Kimber and relatives in 1857. It is the third home built on this property. The first was a small cabin down by the end of the lake because of a great spring. The second was built directly behind this home. They harvested all the wood off of the property to build this beautiful house. They migrated from Pennsylvania as carpenters and ministers to Union County in the early1850's. It originally had five bedrooms, three fireplaces, two sitting rooms, 2 small closets, and no kitchen. They would cook in the house that was directly behind this one. The old outhouse still stands along with the chicken coop, hog barn, packing shed, corn shed, tool shed, and the beautiful red barn that was built in 1900.
