Bishop’s Villa K is as beautiful as the Jemez and Sangre de Cristo Mountains visible through its many windows. So luxurious is this three-bedroom, three-bathroom condo, you may be tempted to spend your entire stay within its pampering confines—even though Santa Fe Plaza and the rest of the downtown area are only 15 minutes away.
With its vigas (rounded ceiling beams), kiva fireplaces, carved wood furnishings and wood-plank doors, Bishop’s Villa K offers classic Southwestern style at its most elegant. In the living room, a wall of windows allows you to admire the mountains while ensconced in a comfortably cushioned sofa or settee. Once you turn your gaze back indoors, you can watch a movie on the flat-screen TV with cable or surf the web via the complimentary Wi-Fi. When you return from a day on the slopes (Ski Santa Fe is only 40 minutes away), you’ll love gathering around the fireplace, hot cocoa or Irish coffee in hand.
Two of the three en-suite bedrooms have fireplaces as well, ideal for creating a romantic ambience. These suites also boast sumptuous king-size beds; the 3rd has a queen bed. All three bedrooms include a flat-screen TV and direct access to a patio. Wake up to watch the sunrise cast a rosy glow over the mountains; point out the constellations in the star-studded night sky before slipping into the cozy comfort of your bed.
Each bedroom has its own private bathroom as well. You’ll be able to indulge in a lengthy shower or bath without a line forming on the other side of the door. The primary bathroom is especially pampering: It features a jetted tub. After a day of hiking, skiing or sightseeing, your weary muscles will welcome a long soak among its massaging jets of water.
Given how close Bishop’s Villa K is to downtown, you could easily eat out at a different restaurant for each meal without driving more than 15 minutes. Once you see the condo’s spectacular kitchen, though, you might want to prepare at least some meals yourself. Sparkling stainless-steel appliances, expansive gleaming counters, and a bounty of cookware and tableware encourage you to try those elaborate recipes you never have time for at home. There’s a gas grill on the patio as well, should you want to cook alfresco. You can also dine outdoors, at the patio table; there’s even a sun umbrella to provide some shade during the heat of summer. Of course, you can eat indoors as well. The dining room table seats six; adjacent to the table is a breakfast bar with three stools, should you have additional guests or simply want to grab a snack.
As you look out at the mountains, the brush, and the seemingly endless sky, you could easily forget that the attractions and excitement of downtown Santa Fe are only minutes away. The Georgia O'Keeffe Museum, Santa Fe Plaza, Loretto Chapel, the Palace of the Governors and San Miguel Mission are just a few of the top attractions you can drive to in 15 minutes or less. Equally close are the acclaimed galleries, shops, and restaurants of Canyon Road. If it’s hiking you want, the Atalaya Mountain, Dale Ball and Dorothy Stewart trails are less than 20 minutes away.
No matter how you spend your days, one thing is certain: You’ll love returning to the beauty and comfort of Bishop’s Villa K afterward. Book your stay today… before someone else beats you to it.
Please note, the community pool is seasonal from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
