This property was a great getaway for our family, ranging from age 8 – 70. It is a secluded by mature trees and ample lake front, distanced nicely from any other docks.
The docking area was large enough for us to have 2 modest sized fishing boats and a jet ski. We used Clamshell Public Boat launch. It is about 4 miles away; 10 minutes by road, and 15 minutes by water.
The beds were all comfortable (I believe they were all Serta mattresses.) The master is on the main floor with a ¾ bath and king bed. Upstairs are 3 bedrooms, each with a queen bed. One of the upstairs bedrooms has an extension, like an L shape, with 2 twin beds in it. This was a welcome surprise for parents with two kids. The bottom level has a twin over twin bunk bed in the living/entertainment room and the 5th bedroom with a queen is down the hall.
Pros:
Beautiful chain of lakes with crystal clear, clean water
Comfortable house with plenty of space for large groups
Large kitchen, making meals easy to execute
The huge deck on the back, overlooking the lake
Pool table for indoor entertainment. (The foosball table is not full sized, not very stable and put together wrong – the guys are backwards. We had a good laugh over this, and the managers may be able to fix it.)
The manager was very pleasant to work with. We provided some feedback on additional kitchenware that I am confident they will stock. (Thank goodness grandpa had a corkscrew on his utility tool!)
Cons:
There is no zero entry/wade into the lake. The sandy beach area with the bonfire pit was awesome, but the lakeshore is edged and very rocky. I recommend water shoes.
There are a lot of stairs to get from the house to the lake. This made for quite a workout hauling inflatables down and up and was tough on the elders in our group. **Send firewood in the boat when you launch.
Our check-in/checkout procedure required picking up the house key in Brainerd. This was not a huge inconvenience for us since it was on our way but could be if you’re coming from a different direction. It's also somewhat strategic since your kids will want to spend all your money during that pit-stop.
