We were excited to stay here given all the positive reviews, but overall left feeling underwhelmed. As far as the positives, the place had plenty of sleeping space and living space for our party of 9. The outdoor area was nice to enjoy the outside without the bugs. And there was strong Wifi with plenty of entertainment services to enjoy.
There were some shortcomings, though, that definitely impacted our stay. There was some basic cleaning that needed to be done: the hard surface floors were pretty dirty, one shower liner was filthy and needed to be replaced, and the windows were hard to see through due to dirt/cobwebs. There was a shortage of silverware/food prep/serving dishes that was a constant issue with a larger group. There were several hardware issues in the house: sliding door off the rails in a bedroom, door hanging off the hinge in the laundry, and no knobs on basically all the kitchen drawers. There also weren't any flat sheets on the bunk beds - just thin blankets on top of the fitted sheet. Finally I would call out that while it's not technically far from Carolina Beach, because it's across the bridge on 421, traffic can be a problem. We had multiple days where it took 20+ minutes to get to/from the beach.
Overall, it was a decent place to stay - we just expected more based on the photos and ratings. With a little TLC, it would probably earn another star.
