Smells like Smoke

Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We left a night early (had originally booked 4) because of the smell of smoke that was constant (it disturbed our allergies and would wake us up in the middle of the night), and because the heater would not stay on at night. It was not clean, there were so many dead bugs in the main window sills, and spider webs in the rafters, and even someone’s underwear found on the floor in the bedroom. The beds are hard, and bed blankets are very old and worn. I wasn’t expecting luxury, but cleanliness, consistent heat, and clean air should be mandatory. The hot tub, games, and layout of the cabin were great. Location was fine. I wrote to the management, and they said nothing. I also could not read the instructions for check in, or check out very well. It must’ve been highlighted in 3 different colors, with different fonts—very confusing. Be forewarned, I do not know why so many people gave this place a great review. I’ve stayed in so many VRBOs, been here for years, and this is by far the dirtiest/smelliest place Ive ever stayed in, and my first BAD review Ive ever given. People please leave honest reviews! If I’d known this I would’ve never booked this place.

The outdoor hot tub was great. We had the best time at this cabin and would love to come back again.

Nice enough cabin, great location

We only stayed a few nights, and for three adult men that was just about right. The cabin had everything advertised, but was much smaller than the photography would lead you to believe. Location though - very nice. Walkable to restaurants and The Village, as well as one of the marinas, where we rented a pontoon and enjoyed putzing around the lake. There were some maintenance issues, which disappointed us, but I have to say the management company/team were incredibly responsive and responsible. I have no doubt the next guests will enjoy a trouble free vacation.

Great location

This cabin was very nice and very clean. The reviews I read said it was clean, and that is why I decided on this one. Beds were comfortable, stove/oven was nice, and we liked the fenced in yard. The only thing we did not like was the very small bathrooms, but it wasn’t a game changer. Also, displaying and address on the back fence would have been very helpful in finding the property initially. I recommend this property.

Good location

Good location. Rustic. Clean. Furnishings were a little uncomfortable. Nice front balcony to hang out on. Kitchen balcony needs some chairs. Combo lock is a little temperamental when locking. Checkin was cumbersome and time-consuming. Good place if traveling with dogs.

Cozy by the lake

We had 6 adults staying at this cozy cabin. The location was really great- close to the lake and a nice walk every morning to Big Bear Blvd and small markets and restaurants. The layout was a little surprising. Bottom layer had a small living room and bedroom. Second floor had very nice kitchen, two other bedrooms. And a small living space that had a TV and dining room. It was a little odd hanging out in the dining room but we got adjusted. The third bedroom has two twin beds and no blinds, just sheer curtains. They may want to invest in some blinds or darker shades because we had a natural 6am wake up call. Didn’t slow us down - was nice to get up and get going anyway. Jacuzzi was the bomb. Didn’t have to lift a finger and it was already 103. Great way to end the night after fun hikes. Shower was HOT and awesome pressure. Overall it was nice- but if sharing with another couple- someone’s getting the short stick.

It's setup well for families or groups travelling with children since there are upstairs and downstairs living areas. Cozy Rental in Big Bear

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Cabin is in a great central location, close to all that big bear has to offer. Home was clean and furniture was comfortable, plus we loved that both living space upstairs and downstairs had TV which made family movie watching a pleasure. The foosball table was a winner and the jacuzzi was new, hot and clean which was a nice relaxing experience after hitting the slopes. Do bring some of your own supplies because some basic amenities are missing; they provide a small hotel sized bar of soap in one bathroom and salt and pepper in the kitchen but that’s about it. Some improvement can be made by providing kitchen towels, kitchen dish soap particularly because there is no dishwasher, there was also no cleaning towels and limited cleaning supplies. Check-in/-out was a breeze and trash facility is very close by.

Property was nice, however called yo have light bulbs replaced in main lighting fixture in living area and there was never any response from property manager At time of check out, only one light bulb in the light fixture which has eight lightbulbs in it was working

The house is two story with one bedroom on floor one and living space, the second floor has two bedrooms, dining area and kitchen. My only complaint would be that most rental homes have some supply of soap in bathroom, and common spice in kitchen, but for some reason this rental only provided one small bar of soap in only one of the bathrooms and an empty salt and pepper shaker.
