Quiet retreat

After driving on SanDiego freeways it was great to end up in among the Trees ,patio and enjoy quiet . Being kind of remote made us enjoy the solitude. Stores and restaurants are about 12-15 minutes away to the east . To the west there is an Albertsons at about 3 miles. Sandra was great! This is a nice casita

Great family vacation

The Casita was everything we could have hoped for. Beautiful property, a few minutes out of the city but close enough to hop around to beaches hiking and activities. The place was very spacious, much bigger than it looks in pictures. The bedrooms were huge, 2 full baths, and a large great room with kitchen. The kitchen was modern and well stocked for cooking. Furniture was really comfortable. There's a laundry machine in the garage. The courtyard is private with furniture, a grill, a land plenty of shade thanks to the enormous tree out front. One thing to note: there was no TV. We actually enjoyed this as we sat outside most of the time and played games and puzzles that were in the Casita. The host made this place special. She sat with us and we shared stories of travel and hobbies. Very friendly and accommodating. Our family with kids (1yr and 5yr) had no issues at all with sleeping or entertainment for our 3-night stay. Sometimes in the city the trains, light or outside noises keep them up, but everyone had such a good time here. Access to the property is a little confusing, but the host has directions on the listing. The roads in the area feel like long private driveways. After only one wrong turn we found it pretty easily, and the area is super safe so we weren't worried. Next time we're in the Carlsbad / San Diego area again, this is the first place I'll look to book my stay! Absolutely phenomenal all around.

Great Place to Stay

The property hosts are caring and helpful. They live on the property and are very helpful if problems arise. The location is peaceful and serene. There is easy access to many hiking/walking trails. The layout of the casita is great for traveling with a friend due to the en-suite 2 full baths and separate bedrooms. The house is equipped with most everything you will need for a relaxing stay. Its a great location for some peaceful downtime in a beautiful setting.

Wonderful views and very peaceful!

The Casita was comfortable, thoughtfully furnished, and very private and peaceful. The owners were very good with communications and very helpful without at all being intrusive. Local hiking was a nice way to start a day's worth of activities. In short an amazing and welcome way to visit San Diego!

Hidden Gem

The Casita is tucked away in the beautiful Elfin Forest Community, and is one of the best decisions we made this trip. The Casita is surrounded by amazing landscaping, and offers wonderful views of the city. We woke up each morning with a view of the mountains out our windows. It is not your typical California atmosphere... meaning we were not on a beach, but were surrounded by trees and trails. We enjoyed sitting on the patio, playing cards and taking in the perfect California weather. Inside, the Casita is fully stocked and decorated with care. Coming from NJ for a wedding, we had several outfits that needed a good ironing. The owners supplied an iron, ironing board, washer and dryer, and so much more. The bedrooms are spacious and clean, each with its own bathroom, as well. All of us woke up in the morning and commented about how nice and quiet it was. The owners have horses a little further down on the property, so we took a walk down to look at them - a very cool experience. It was about 10 minutes to the nearest grocery store, which we went to the first day, and stocked up on essentials. The Casita has a full kitchen, so I was able to make breakfast for everyone in the morning. We were warned not to leave food around the Casita because of little critters that may be tempted to come in. We were also told there might be snakes or coyotes at night. However, we didn’t run into any of those issues. Since you are immersed in nature, I can see how it would be possible, but no bugs or critters in sight. I would 100% recommend for a nice, quiet, relaxing visit. My fiancée and I would love to be able to go back. Thank you Sandra for letting us stay in your beautiful home :)

Beautiful property

Loved the casita. It Is a beautiful property. Two comments that would make it perfect, would be 1) to install sensor lights on the path outside along the pathway to the gate in; it is dark at night and the step could be a hazard. 2) To have dark curtains in the living room. If a 5th person is sleeping on the couch, It is pretty bright, which is nice in the morning unless you are trying to sleep. Over all , the place is comfortable, spacious, and beautiful. The owners are very nice and hospitable. We had a bbq and completed one of their puzzles. It was a good stay and we enjoyed our time there.

Paradise!

Absolutely loved this casita! The home is set in a beautiful area close to the 15 and the 5 freeways to get you all over San Diego, but totally feels remote and peaceful. The home is fully stocked, my wife and I are big cookers and we had absolutely everything we needed. Sandra, the owner was so sweet and checked in on on when we arrived to make sure we didn't need anything and was available via text/phone. I wanted to stay for a month! I will be back for sure, thank you Sandra!

Wonderfully beautiful and peaceful

This Casita is large and comfortable; is very well kept and well appointed with all the amenities of home. So nice to come back to the quiet after a day in traffic site seeing up and down the coast of CA. You will like Sandra; forthcoming with any info you need. She warned us being in the country we may encounter a mouse in the house! We have a 6 lb Yorkie who will take on any mouse no matter the cost. To her dismay, there were never any mice any where. I would and will stay in this Casita again & again. Thank you Sandra, we enjoyed meeting you. Take good care.

Fantastic home away from home for travel nurses!

My housemate/travel buddy and I stayed at the Casita while on contract at Palomar Medical Center. Sandra and her family made our stay comfortable and relaxing; it was a true home away from home. Pet friendly and spacious with a cute patio and barbecue, the house is perfect for an extended stay. Super quiet, walking paths close by, and stars at night were fantastic. Exploring San Diego was great, beaches are just a short drive away for those gorgeous sunsets. I highly suggest beer lovers tour the North County breweries!

A comfortable, spacious home in a beautiful setting. Super friendly and helpful host

Staying in the casita was a wonderful experience. Sandra was a warm, friendly and gracious host. We felt well taken care of while also enjoying a sense of complete privacy. The house was well-equipped and thoughtfully designed. The location was perfect - in a rural area, almost wilderness in feel, with great hiking opportunities close at hand. Yet it's in easy driving distance of the Pacific coast, with all the attractions of North County San Diego.

Lovely property

We stayed here while my daughter attended a camp at the San Diego Safari Park. The property is beautiful. The casita is clean and spacious. Check in and check out was seamless. We enjoyed the Elfin Forest Reserve, Safari Park, Carlsbad outlets and Encinitas Beach while we stayed at the casita. Everything was a short drive. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Beautiful place

My husband and I stayed here along with my daughter and her fiance for 5 days over New Years. The peaceful location and the casita itself were wonderful. We loved the convenience of hiking in the Elfin forest recreational reserve down the road with our two small dogs one day while watching the surfers on the coast another day. Sandra's place is very clean, comfortable, and spacious feeling. We would recommend staying here to anyone wanting some peace and quiet in a beautiful California setting.

Escape the crowds!

My family and I stayed at the casita for three months while my wife worked in California for a year. Although we initially lived in a rental house near the beach in Carlsbad before moving to this house, we loved being in the Elfin Forest area much better than the beach! The beach area was generally crowded and noisy with car traffic and the train. In contrast, the casita is located in a relatively remote area that will give you an idea of what much of California looked like before 40 million people moved in. The views from the windows were amazing and I loved not having to listen to noise pollution every day. There were many miles of hiking/biking trails that ran along streams and uninhabited hills. Living here was truly something that we will never forget. The casita was perfect for what we needed: very clean, fully furnished, and had all the necessary amenities such as A/C and washer/dryer. Albertson’s (in San Elijo village) was about a 5 minute drive from the casita and the beach was about 20-25 minute drive. Sandra and Jeano (owners) were friendly, accommodating, hospitable, and very responsive to minor issues that came up during our stay. In addition, the owners were very respectful of our privacy during our stay. Overall, we would not hesitate to stay here again if we return to southern California…we loved every minute of it!

Home Away From Home

We stayed here for a week and felt like it was our home away from home. We brought our two Chihuahua's with us and they just loved the yard. The casita was just perfect for us and Sandra was such a pleasure to deal with from start to finish. It had everything we needed and then some.

Great for families, too!

This is such an excellent alternative to staying in a hotel. It made the trip for my husband and me. Our children--6 and 4--also loved it. It's only about 20 minutes from Legoland, the Zoo Safari Park, and the Encinitas Beach, so it's very convenient. Yet it's a rural setting with beautiful views and horses on the property. Having a kitchen, two bedrooms (one with a toddler bed) and a small yard are great bonuses for a family. The small nearby town of San Elijo has a supermarket and also has a playground and splash pad. We wish we could find such ideal accommodations everywhere we travel!

Wonderful, quiet and very comfortable!

Stayed here for 3 nights in February and couldn't have asked for more: The Casita is very nicely appointed, very clean and actually roomier than expected. The grounds are perfectly maintained, and the owners are extremely helpful. Even though they do allow pets, the house was absolutely spotless (which is not always the case with pet-friendly accommodations). This is a little gem with a lot of privacy, a great place to relax, enjoy the mountain views, go for a hike or drive down to the beach, too. Highly recommend!

Peaceful and Relaxing getaway

Recently my husband and I and our 2 small dogs had an extended 30 stay at this amazing casita. The owners were so wonderful and made our stay very comfortable. The casita was perfect. There was a small enclosed yard for us to relax in in the evening and the beds were comfortable. The property is so beautiful with many wonderful trails to hike. You are centrally located between the 5 and the 15 freeways so you have easy access to all the sites of San Diego and Orange County. You are 5 to 10 minutes from a market and a few local restaurants. If you want to truly relax without the noise and bustle of the city we highly recommend this property.

Travelers home away from home

My wife and I along with our well behaved traveling partners (dogs) have had the pleasure of staying for our third time at this beautifully appointed not so little casita. Here is our review; PRO's Very quiet ,private, great views out of large picture windows, vaulted ceilings comfy beds, great yard, fantastic walking and hiking right out the front door, nice people to deal with! CON's It's not a two minute drive to Starbucks in the morning (should have been listed above). If you expect a wood fire, the fireplace cannot be used. And last, if you cant sleep without hotel doors slamming at 2:00 AM or the constant din of city noise this place may not be for you.

Wonderful Stay

This little casita was perfect. Two bedrooms, two baths, living/dinning area, and a nice kitchen made our stay great and for a great price. The casita was clean. The outside area was quiet and peaceful. The pictures do not do it justice. Will stay again.

Great Casita

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Casita and would recommend it to anyone. This is a beautiful quiet spot and the house and grounds are very well-maintained. The owners were very helpful. We plan on going back when we go to the area again.
