IMPORTANT! Walton County has severely limited the public's use of private beaches. Visitors can no longer set up on private beaches as they could in the past. These rules are being enforced by the Walton County Sheriff's Department; therefore, it is essential that you choose a property that has a private beach with a gated access.
When considering beachfront vacation rental properties, be sure to ask these four questions: First- does the property have beach access? Second- is the beach access private? Third- is the private beach access gated? Fourth- is the beach access directly in front of the complex? This condo complex has all four! Gulf Winds East has the luxury of having 150 feet of deeded beach with a private gated entrance directly in front of the complex. This is VERY unusual in this area. No tents or canopies are allowed on the Gulf Winds East private beach.

This is a townhouse located at Gulf Winds East, a 52-unit community known for its large private beach and central location on Scenic Gulf Drive. Park in your reserved parking space for easy access to your townhome. There are additional parking spaces available on a first-come basis with a maximum of two vehicles. The large L-shaped living/dining/kitchen area downstairs has two covered patios (front and rear) for indoor/outdoor living. The upstairs has 2 primary bedrooms, 2 full baths, 2 covered balconies, and 2 private bunkrooms. The rear patio and the rear balcony overlook a green space. High-speed internet and cable TV are included.
Family dinners can be served on the huge dining room table that seats ten. The kitchen is well-appointed and has both Keurig-style and drip coffee makers. It also has a large air fryer and a blender. The living area is decorated in beach chic and has a 58-inch flat-screen Roku TV with an HDMI extension cable, making it easy to plug in your devices.There is also a spacious half bathroom with a washer and dryer downstairs. Enjoy the pack patio while sipping on a daiquiri made in your kitchen's blender.
Both upstairs bathrooms have two entrances, one from a primary bedroom and one from the hallway. The hallway entrances allow the occupants of the two double bunk rooms to enter the bathrooms without having to go through the bedrooms. Both master bedrooms have queen beds with new mattresses, private balconies, large walk-in closets, and flat-screen TVs. Feel free to bring your streaming devices (Roku, AppleTV, etc) to use on the bedroom TV.. Both have HDMI extension cables, making it easy to plug in your devices. This arrangement allows two families of four to each occupy a “wing” of the upstairs area. I don’t think that there is another condo in the area with this arrangement or one that sleeps this many comfortably at this price. It is essentially a four-bedroom townhouse. Be aware that the bunk areas in most condos are not private and, in most instances, are actually in the hallway or in the bedrooms and offer little or no privacy. Three of the bunks are 72 inches long and one is 68 inches long. The two beds in the rear bunkroom are suitable for adults or children. The two beds in the front bunkroom are both upper bunks and are more suitable for children or teenagers. There are also three upholstered chairs in the living area that fold out into small beds. A pack-n-play and toddler cot are included so the little ones have an option of sleeping near their parents. All bath towels and bed linens are provided. No beach towels are provided.
Gulf Winds East is located on Scenic Gulf Drive (old highway 98) that runs along the beach. The beach is directly across the street from the complex. It is an easy three-minute stroll from your front door. Scenic Gulf Drive is two lanes and is very easy and very safe to cross. the speed limit is 25mph. There is a crosswalk directly in front of the complex. Enjoy the beautiful sunrises and sunsets while enjoying a cup of coffee or a cold beverage on the spacious gated beach gazebo and deck. The pool at Gulf Winds East is pristine. There is a charcoal grill 50 feet from the front door. Guests are not allowed to bring their own grills or fire pits.
This area of Miramar Beach (near the Walton-Okaloosa county line) is, in my opinion, the best location in the Destin area. The crowds are smaller because there are no large high-rises anywhere nearby. Very family-friendly for walking, biking, or strolling due to the wide 5.5 mile-long walking-biking trail that parallels the Scenic Gulf Drive and runs in front of the complex. Several restaurants and bars are within easy walking distance, including Pompano Joe’s, Captain Dave’s, and Kenny D’s. You can drive (or go for a longer walk) to numerous stores, bars, coffee shops, beach shops, ice cream shops, wineries, restaurants, and supermarkets without having to contend with the congestion on Emerald Coast Parkway (Highway 98). Almost everything in this area (restaurants, grocery stores, and shopping) is accessible via street-legal golf carts, which are available for rent from several vendors in the area.
