Unwind and recharge at Sand Drift Cottage. This 1940’s classic Lake Michigan beachfront cottage has the most breathtaking views. It is nestled on a private tree-lined road surrounded by nature, yet centrally located between Saugatuck/Douglas and South Haven. It’s a perfect beach escape for a couple's vacation, weekend with girlfriends or quality time with family. This Southwest Michigan area has all the charm with some of the best wineries/breweries, beaches, art galleries, adorable boutiques and amazing dining.

Wake up to the sound of the waves and relax on the deck overlooking the water. Take a walk down to the private beach where you can go for a swim or stroll the shoreline. Beach bums will be set with beach chairs, outdoor games and other beach necessities.

At night, be sure to gather around the fire pit and take time to watch an unforgettable sunset or do some stargazing.

Charming lake front cottage!

Our family enjoyed every second of our time on Lake Michigan. This charming cottage had stunning views with ideal private beach access! The house itself was perfect for our kids and we for sure will be back!

Beautiful property!

This property is so beautiful and perfectly situated on Lake Michigan. The private beach access was so perfect. There is not one detail overlooked from the decor to the amenities and supplies provided by the host. We loved our stay at Sand Drift Cottage!

1st Family Vacation

It was our first vacation as a family and we had a blast. Our boys loved the beach and the house was beautiful. Once the kids went to bed my wife and I enjoyed the sunroom and watching sunsets while playing games or an assembling a puzzle. We’d definitely go back. Colleen and Andy were great hosts and responded promptly to any questions we had. Thanks for a great place to stay and make memories!

82nd Birthday Celebration

My sisters and I booked this amazing property to celebrate my parents 82nd birthdays and it did not disappoint. The view of the lake was incredible. We spent most of our days down on the beach, relaxing on the deck, or adventuring in Saugatuck and Holland. So many picture perfect sunsets during our stay. My parents said this sweet abode was the absolute best they have ever had the pleasure to stay in and they hope to return again next summer. Thank you to Andy and Colleen for sharing your home with us.

Phenomenal!

We had an outstanding stay at the cottage! Great views, easy beach access and the place was stocked with plenty. The kids enjoyed a DVD from the collection each day and the newly upgraded internet worked well for us. Be sure to check out the little store for pretty much everything and the Glenn store for great pizza. The hosts were Great and super responsive! Will definitely be coming back to the sand drift cottage!

Fall get away

We had a great 3 night stay at the Sand Drift cottage. The cottage lived up to its hype and more. My wife and I are in our seventies and had no trouble getting to the beach. The cottage is equipped with everything you could possibly need and more. The location is perfect. You feel like you’re out in the country but South Haven and Saugatuck are only a short ride away. The view of the Sunsets is incredible. I would highly recommend the Sand Drift to our friends and family.

Excellent lake Michigan cottage!

The property lacks for nothing. It's quiet and comfortable with a very accessible beach. We really appreciated the ac during the heat wave! One thing to note is that we did not get consistent Internet or cell service, so would not be a good spot if you plan to do any work, but great to really unplug and detox from your devices. We hope to return!

Pics don't do justice!

The home is gorgeous and is bigger than you might think from the photos. The only snag was no dishwasher; cooking for many people makes lots of dishes! The only other thing, and this is very subjective, is the pillows (at least mine) weren't firm-ish and supportive like I like...again, totally subjective. But a wonderful home, gorgeous view, the owners thought to provide everything from toiletries to light bulbs. We had a wonderfully relaxing time!

Picture Perfect!

Perfect is right -- this beautiful cottage is breathtaking from the moment you walk in. The view is spectacular. The cottage is adorable. And the hosts have done everything possible to make you feel at home -- so many kind and thoughtful amenities. The stairs to the private beach are terrific, and there's a lovely half-way bench to catch your breath! The beach is gorgeous -- we had so much fun collecting and building beautiful rock cairns. The hosts were so welcoming and immediately responded to every question we had. The location was just far enough from town to make us feel tucked away, but close enough to enjoy the cute restaurants and shops in nearby Douglas and Saugatuck. Thank you for the obvious love and care you put into creating this little oasis -- and thank you for sharing it with us.

Boutique Cottage with Everything you Need

10/10, a great stay! This cottage is perfectly placed between South Haven and Saugatuck. We had a great time exploring both towns, and the immediate surrounding area. The home itself has everything you need and is perhaps the cleanest, most comfortable cottage we’ve stayed at. To top it all off, it felt private and quiet. Take in the views of Lake Michigan from the enclosed sunroom, deck, fire pit or the beach! The extra touches the homeowners left for us were amazing and they even have iPhone cords perfectly placed around the home. A few tips, bring water shoes to deal with rocks when entering the water. The WiFi was out most of our stay and our cell signals didn’t work in the home. I know the area is working to resolve the WiFi challenge but plan to be disconnected! They have board games, movies, books, boogie boards, beach chairs, paddle boards, yard/beach games and even bikes for you to enjoy.

Beautiful Retreat from Work Demands

This home was so much better than online pictures can portray. It’s like a spa-cabin with forced digital device withdrawal. The property is set along Lake Michigan on a wooded, quiet lane. Plenty of wildlife (we saw deer, wild turkeys, gulls, black and red squirrels and there’s an adorable chipmunk that lives near the shed.) Outside, there are steps leading to the private beach. There are a lot of steps, so if you struggle with steps-this is something you should be aware of. The owners built a nice landing halfway down with a bench that’s great for lake views or sunbathing. The beach is fairly rocky so be sure to pack water shoes. Unfortunately, the water was pretty rough and way too cold for paddle boarding during our stay (owners allow you to use their equipment that’s on the beach). Inside, we were in heaven. We spent most of our time in the sunroom looking over the lake, listening to the tiny and fun transistor radio, doing jigsaw puzzles, and just talking. The home is well appointed and the owners have taken great care to provide everything you could ever need to enjoy your vacation. From games and sunscreen to Kureig pods and a gift basket of sweets-they go over and above what any other VRBO host has provided in my experience. 10/10 for the decor and comfort of the cabin. Please note that you will NOT be able to pickup WiFi or use your cellular service-and this is exactly what we needed. We plan to return in 2025!

Andy and Colleen are from a Northwest suburb of Chicago. They have been married for 20 years and have two daughters. They spent a lot of their childhood enjoying lake time and wanted to give those same experiences to their children too. They fell in love with the charm of this cozy cottage and its location to a few of their favorite Michigan towns. It has been a perfect escape for their family and they wanted to be able to share it with others too.

This a quiet gravel road surrounded by woods. It has seen many generations of families. You won’t see cars flying by and can safely take a walk or bike ride along the road.

This is one of the very few short term rentals in the area that has its own private beach on Lake Michigan. It is in a perfect location to allow for a quiet retreat, yet centered between Saugatuck/Douglas and South Haven.
