Sugarfoot Escape is our family’s name for our dream beach condo located in Phase II of Summer House on Romar Beach— a terrific location in Orange Beach, Alabama.
With a wide private beach, fantastic amenities, and super convenient location, Summer House has been a top favorite destination for beach goers.
Unit 1502B checks all the boxes having an incredible private patio, exceptional unobstructed Gulf views, large bedrooms, and recent luxury updates.
We also love the fact that we are located on the top floor which removes the noise above and also means that when you call an elevator, it is likely showing up empty ready to go!
With a recent deep renovation and update including all new flooring, colors, furniture and appliances.
Sugarfoot Escape has 100MB/50MB dedicated high speed internet with solid reception inside and out on the patio. This also means that if you log into our updated televisions for some Netflix or Hulu, that you can actually watch your show! We have the Enhanced Dish package for all TVs providing live television channels and On Demand programming. The family room is equipped with a Bluetooth capable Dolby Digital Surround Sound System for your enjoyment with the Samsung 65" Smart TV.
In the kitchen, we've refreshed the cookware and utensils as well as a have installed new Stainless Steel KitchenAid appliances, including a French door fridge, well featured large convection oven, and a super quiet dishwasher. In addition, we installed a commercial grade Manitowoc 50# per day gourmet ice machine (new 2023). Our family cooks here, we have all the things a cook would require, stainless cookware, Pyrex, measuring tools, mixing bowls, spatulas, dicers, etc. This is not “common” for OBA rentals. This is our second home.
The master has a spectacular view, a comfy king size bed, and en suite updated bathroom with updated cabinets, granite, and frame-less glass. We just upgraded our furniture and mattress as well as new blackout window treatments to go along with our new sliding glass door!
Sugarfoot Escape has a second King bedroom that also just got a furniture, mattress, and decor update. There is a Samsung smart TV above the dresser.
There is a third large bedroom with 2 queen beds with a Samsung smart TV and a spare pre-wired HDMI for the gaming stations your kids will likely bring.
These two bedrooms are conveniently located on a connecting hallway to the second bathroom which is also updated with granite and frame-less glass.
Our unit is unique having a tankless hot water heater that keeps up with the shower queue before dinner (vs standard 30 gallon tank heaters) . We love our tankless hot water! We also have a dehumidifier installed in our AC closet which helps it be noticeably more comfortable.
Summer House is a convenient shuttle stop to get to places like FloraBama! With restaurants, grocery, convenience, and liquor stores right nearby, it is hard to beat this location. More importantly, the private beach access is on the BEST stretch of sand in Orange Beach.
NOTE: Summer House has a strict “2 Vehicle Max Per Unit” policy and must always display the Vehicle Registration certificate in the parking lot after arrival. You will pay for your $50 parking certificate(s) per vehicle at the guard shack when you enter the property.
Don’t want to mess with your own beach gear? Umbrellas and chairs are available to rent from Summer House right on the beach most of the prime beach days of the year (March - October).

Summer House Restoration Project 2023-2025 Update.
Building B will be 100% complete by December 2024!
Our unit, 1502B, and the 15th Floor are done!!! It looks amazing and is such an upgrade!
Context: Summer House HOA voted for a massive building restoration project that began September 2023. The primary focus was completely modernizing the exterior shell of the building and correcting any deterioration. The work on Building B was to have been completed by Memorial Day 2024. The contractor missed their deadline and are finishing up the final touches on the North side (parking lot) portion.
In the meantime, the parking lot facing side of our building B will not have completed paint and also will have bare concrete for the walkways (vs pavers or epoxy) and there are very safe, but not pretty railings on some of the lower floors since the permanent versions must be done after the sealants around October 31st.
We have new sliding glass doors, windows, entry door, and a beautiful refinished patio with epoxy floor and new paint scheme.
Beach access is constantly available for Summer House including buggy suitable paths. All amenities are open except the unheated outdoor pool which goes down for maintenance on 8/19/2024 and will be unavailable until roughly April 2025. That unheated Outdoor pool will need to be closed when lifts are above starting in late August. The deck chairs have been moved to a nice patio area adjacent to the lawn beachside of our Building B.
The heated indoor pool will remain available continuously during its normal hours each day.
The neighboring Building A’s renovation is in full swing and that building will be down until Memorial Day 2025.
We are so thankful to have made it through and now have safer and more beautiful building and unit!
