~Casa Luna~
This is our tenth vacation rental home we have personally created, and we are so excited because it has turned out absolutely spectacular! I have to admit, I am addicted to furnishing, decorating, and making vacation rental homes so we can host guests from around the world. It is the best job ever, and I owe it all to my guests.

Casa Luna is located on our 110 acre ranch 9 miles south of downtown Durango. This house is very large, and very high end. Our Owls Nest Studio, our other vacation rental, occupies the upstairs of this house and is mainly over the garage. Both units have separate parking and entrances and are totally private from each other. Casa Luna has private parking, private entrance, all private interior and a private yard! The Owls Nest upstairs is a studio and has its own private parking, entrance and outdoor area.

There is a big gourmet kitchen with custom mahogany cabinets and granite countertops. The living room is large, and has a built in sound system and big new flat screen TV for movie night! I jumped for joy when I found this amazing buttery leather couch for the living room!

There are king sized beds in the two main bedrooms, then in the 3rd bedroom has a queen. The master bedroom has an attached bathroom with a jaccuzzi tub and large two person walk in shower. The second bathroom is a tub/shower combo and is in the hallway right off the two other bedrooms. Then there is a third, 3/4 bath/ shower near the kitchen. There is also another den room with a beautiful gas fire place. This den has a full sized pull out couch and two chairs that fold out into single beds.

So the bed count is like this:
~1 king in the master(Sleeps 2)
~1 king in the second bedroom (Sleeps 2)
~1 queen in the third bedroom (Sleeps 2)
~1 full pull out couch in the den: this is suitable for two kids or a tough adult. (Sleeps 2)
~2 chairs that fold out into single beds: these are in the den, but they can be moved to other rooms. They are suitable for kids and young people. (Sleeps 2)

There are linens and pillows for all the beds.

Relaxing Stay

This is a very comfortable house located an easy 15 minute drive to town. The beds were fabulous, the kitchen was well stocked with all we needed to prepare meals, and there was plenty of room for everyone to relax after a day of exploring. The views from the patio are spectacular. Holly was very responsive if I had any questions and went out of her way to make sure we were happy. We would definitely rent from her for our next trip to Durango.

Breathtaking views and amazing owners.

We absolutely loved our stay! The property owner Holly went above and beyond to make sure our stay was amazing and even took time out of her evening to show my kids her horses, mule, and dockey. The kiddos even had the opportunity to brush one of the horses. The house had everything we needed especially the fenced in yard for our dogs. The view was breathtaking. We would definitely stay here again. Thank you, Holly!

Super clean and cozy with views galore!

We absolutely loved Casa Luna as a place to rest after skiing at Purgatory. The well-appointed kitchen allowed us to make all of our meals each day and we never went to town once! Love the pellet fire stove heater and the beds were super comfy. The smart TV was perfect and we played card games at the large dining table. Overall a wonderful place to enjoy the views and spend time with family.

Perfect location and house for us!

As a group of adults (all family) between the ages of 56 - 84, we looked ALL over the Durango area for a house that would give us both the togetherness and privacy that all of us were looking for. And, adding Owl's Next to the Casa Luna reservation made for a perfect combination. Owl's Nest is a super cute efficiency apartment that, along with the king and twin bed, gave two of us the sleeping arrangements we needed, a private space to get ready in the mornings, and a quiet space to fall asleep at night. The entire space was super clean, updated, and had absolutely everything we needed. With a total of seven adults staying between Casa Luna and Owl's Nest, we had an extra space to do laundry, make coffee, and shower. We had the opportunity to meet both Ben and Holly. Ben was super helpful when we needed to borrow a few tools to replace the license plate holder on our van. And, Holly was super friendly and seemed to really enjoy having short-term renters on her ranch! I wouldn't be surprised if my parents. who fell in love with the ranch, make it back to Colorado, and rent Casa Luna and/or Owl's Nest, again. They LOVED having their coffee on the back patio every morning, listening to the donkey and cattle, watching the phoebe chase flies, and seeing the ranch come to life.

Country home for a family

This property had everything we needed for a rental property. Rooms were good sized and beds comfortable. Kitchen was stocked with the right equipment for a family meal, including stocked spices for cooking. Living room layout and TV setup made for a comfy movie night. If your traveling with a group of family or friends this is the right place for you. It’s not to far outside of Durango that it was easy for a quick trip in for supplies. We had a good time and was able to come and relax in the evening after a day out and about.

Weekend Family Trip

We stayed at this property as it was close to a wedding we attended. There were 9 of us total, the sleeping arrangements were not the greatest especially for the 3 teenagers. Lucky for us we brought our own air mattress. There was only one TV in the house, we dont watch a lot of TV but it would have been nice to have one or two more since there were so many of us staying there. Besides the sleeping arrangement and the TV the house was great! Location was perfect and views were awesome. We had a difficult time locating the property at first and the owner answered our call right away and helped us find it. She was great and was there if we needed anything. We would definitely stay there again!

Beautiful location!

Although this was an older home, I loved the layout of it! It met our needs wonderfully!! There were a few things that needed to be fixed and the owners came over immediately and took care of all issues. We do wish the yard would have been mowed so we could have enjoyed the outdoors but we would stay here again!!

Fantastic countryside getaway!

My family spent several days at Casa Luna and we loved it. The accommodations were perfect for our family, which included 2 teenagers, a 10 year old, 4 year old and 2 dogs! Everyone loved the animals at the back fence and the overall setup of the home was exactly as we expected. The property is outside of town, but it was very accessible. Highly recommend this location, we would absolutely stay here again.

Absolutely Amazing Stay! We didn’t want to leave ❤️

Wow, i honestly can’t say enough good things about our stay here. We were moving out of state and needed a place for the last 2 weeks in CO. We found this house and are so happy that we did. It was the perfect end to our time in CO. The views are just out of this world, and the sun rises and sets are gorgeous from the big picture window too. The setting of the home is perfect with livestock and horses around too, you really feel like you’re out West ❤️ Now for the house itself, it’s immaculate! The set up is perfect, tons of room and it’s decorated so cute! The washer and dryer are a huge plus and the stocked kitchen was great too! There were even baby dishes for our little one there. The owners live close by and always make sure to be helpful when you need them, the sweetest family ever! They truly do care so much about making your stay great. Seriously you need to stay here, it’s not just a place to sleep but a whole experience, you will love it!!

Colorado dream home

We came for spring break to enjoy spring skiing at Purgatory as well as have a Colorado experience. This house is just that! The property has a ranch cabin feel with views that are just breath taking. The short drive into town of Durango and less than an hr to Purgatory was great. I would recommend this house highly to anyone looking for an authentic experience with hosts to match. We look forward to coming back again and exploring during another season as well. This house has so much to offer!

Nice large home on a 100 acre farm property

This house had lots of space with a large kitchen and living room and a separate den area. It was a great value for the price. Our family would definitely stay here again. The views of the mountains and snow-filled pastures were spectacular.

Spacious and beautiful

Very roomy and accommodating for my family of 8. The owners were very nice and helpful. The kitchen was stocked nicely with basic necessities. They had a variety of board games that my children enjoyed. Everything was perfect! I highly recommend this home.

An amazing experience during a rough time.

We came into town for a funeral that had been delayed due to COVID. Three generations with limited options to stay together. We rented both Casa Luna and the Owl's Nest (the apartment above stairs). The layout ended up being perfect. My husband and I stayed in the Owl's Nest upstairs, which had a separate entrance, kitchen, bath, and laundry. It was completely self sustaining and away from the chaos of the rest of the group. The downstairs was very group friendly. A full kitchen, nicely appointed, three bedrooms as well as fold out options for overspill teenagers. My son is autistic, so we could take him up to the apartment to have some quiet time when the group got to be too much. The views are stunning, and it's away from the hustle of downtown. Also close to the airport. Bring bug spray, however. Something about the grasslands/farm area that made the mosquitos way worse. All day. So, bring repellent and keep the doors shut. The house itself is tastefully decorated, has an abundance of high quality linen and extra pillows. The appliances are all high end and user friendly. Check out instructions are simple and easy. They also provided staples like a stocked spice rack, cooking oil, good coffee, condiments, etc. The bathrooms are stocked with soap, lotion, and Aveda hair products. Such a nice touch that makes the experience more indulgent. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend either property.

Helped make Durango stay a pleasure

A little hard to find at first, but once there things were great. Ben and Holly were gracious and responsive. Liked having the horses and coes around but not too close. They gave us some fresh ground beef from a freshly processed steer which was very good. House is spacious and comfortable and easy drive to town and other places we went. Would recommend it to others who may like a little space in their accommodations.
