Charming & serene waterfront home on the Piankatank River in Gloucester County, VA!

This one level 1400sf cottage (with sweeping views of the river from almost every room) has 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths, a sun room a cozy screened porch, beautiful living room with ROKU tv and a wood burning fireplace, fully stocked kitchen, waterside decks, a terrific fire pit, gas grill, AMAZING dock with stunning views and adirondack chairs, kayaks, paddle board, yard games and more! It is both beautiful and comfy, and we promise you will feel at home right away and not want to leave.

While this is a new listing in 2021, we are experienced hosts with more than 200 five star reviews. No hosting agency to deal with - Scott and I are always just a text or call away. We are dedicated to your having a terrific stay, and know you'll agree that this is the perfect place to kick back and enjoy river life at any time of year.

Gloucester Stay

We spent 4 nights at this beautiful property. The property is accurately represented in the description and the photos. I honestly cannot think of a thing that could have improved our stay. It is a peaceful, beautiful location. The river is gorgeous and we spent much time on the dock eating meals and just relaxing. Betsy was wonderful in checking in on us. We loved the location and hope to return.

Christmas Shopping weekend with friends

This was a very nice central location for us to shop all over the Middle Peninsula and Northern Neck and also going to Williamsburg for the Christmas tour. The home was nicely situated in a quiet neighborhood right on the river and we had beautiful views and lots of seating to enjoy the river. Everything was as it was advertised and was actually nicer in person. We hope to come back again in the spring before our daughter’s softball schedules get going in full swing to have a nice break before.

Holly Trail

The property has a beautiful location on the Piankatank River. The house is well-stocked with pots, pans and dishes. We were provided with plenty of bath towels. Our favorite hang-out was the screened-in-porch, where we watched herons, ospreys, seagulls and one or two bald eagles.

Excellent and quaint cottage

Such a great getaway cottage with an amazing dock. Plenty of amenities so all you have to really do is show up with some groceries and enjoy your stay. We went kayaking, watched the sunset and enjoyed the inside living space. Will definitely plan to stay again.

Cosy cottage

We had a most enjoyable week in this spotlessly clean comfy cottage on the banks of the Piankatank estuary. Tastefully decorated with all the amenities one would need and with a very attentive owner.

We had a great time at Betsy’s house on the river. The home was perfect, stocked with everything you might need. The host provided lots of great info about the house and the local area. The river views were just incredible!! We hope to come back for a longer trip sometime in the future.

Everything you need

My husband and I traveled down on our motorcycles to this property. The home was meticulously clean and had everything we could need and more! Would love to come back in warmer weather so we could enjoy the water more!

Excellent Stay

We had perfect stay here. The house is exactly as advertised and very well equipped with everything you might need. Highlights are many: Water view, sunrise AND sunset, the pier, fire ring, comfy beds, soft towels, lawn games, fishing, nicely decorated, well stocked kitchen. We had our own boat and really enjoyed the exploring the river. Betsy could not have been easier to work with in arranging our stay. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a get away on the River!

Tranquil Getaway on the River

My family of four had a peaceful and wonderful few days. We ventured out a bit to local towns/beach, but we were all happiest just spending family time at the house - enjoying the sights and sounds of the Piankatank. Perfect Getaway for some R & R

This home won't disappoint. Lots of room to spread out, love the decorations and furnishings. Best stocked kitchen we have seen in all the places we have rented. We did not leave the place. We hung out on the dock most of the day. The sunrises and sunsets are something you will want to see! We hated to leave. We will go back.

Fall on the Rivah

Great location on the Piankatank river. Mornings spent on back porch gazing at a star filled sky.Evenings spent at fire pit Even with the temperature dipping down to 35 this morning, the river didn't disappoint. Peace & tranquility abound . Plan to come back again in the future. disappoint.

Wow Great Experience!

I can't rave enough about our great stay. The house was clean, comfortable, and so roomy. We had three generations in the house, and we all had a place to play, connect, and relax. The kitchen was well stocked, the bathrooms had everything we needed, and when we weren't outside, so many options for streaming on the large TV. The outside is so inviting, and having so many amenities was fabulous. I love my house, but it feels like a let down after such a great stay. Hope to come back!

Lovely home & great owner

My wife and I enjoyed our stay at this waterfront home. The home was in great condition and offered everything we needed for our stay. The space is comfortable and very welcoming. I loved the combination of temperature control between the AC and the curling fans in multiple rooms. The fire pit is a nice touch with plenty of wood provided. The backyard leads down to a dock with nice seating with a beautiful view for sunrises or sunsets. Betsy, the owner, was very responsive and friendly in communications and a notebook is there on arrival providing everything you need from home details to local recommendations. We would definitely recommend!

Great place on the rivah!

Wonderful rental! The house was beautiful, and clean. The layout of the property was excellent with great views! We enjoyed the decks early in the morning gazing at the stars right in your face! The fire pit in the evening with a glass of wine was a great way to unwind. We kayaked in the morning and had the whole rivah too ourselves. Hung out on the dock and saw a good size snapper turtle. Mooring cleats on the dock would be helpful to tye off for an easier exit out of your kayak. Just a suggestion. This place was quiet, peaceful and absolutely lovely.

Lovely waterfront home

Our family of three had a wonderful stay! The house is clean, nicely furnished, and very comfortable. We were there in the off-season (early March) so it was still a little too cold to spend much time outside, but the screened-in patio and dock area are great - we'll have to come back sometime in the summer to take advantage of the outdoor area! Great for a family, there are two comfortable indoor living rooms so you can spread out or cozy up together. The second bathroom is super-tiny, it's fine for kids but could be a challenge for a larger or older person. The en suite bathroom in the main bedroom is large and nice. Overall we loved it and would definitely stay again.

Beautiful get away

Our family (husband and I, 21, 18 and 14 year old) rented this home for a get away in March. The property is private and right on the water. It is about 15 minutes to the main road for groceries. It was too cold for us to get out on the water, but the owners do provide kayaks and life vests for guests. There is plenty of space and seating in the house. The kitchen has everything you need to make meals and linens are conveniently included. The master bathroom is large, but the other bathroom is very small. The bedrooms are comfortable and there is plenty of storage space. The house is decorated in calming colors with lots of whimsical touches. The owners are quick to respond and respectful of their guests.

Beautiful, relaxing and very clean !

Our family enjoyed a wonderful stay at this beautifully decorated and very clean cottage. We had great weather so were able to make use of the kayaks several times a day. We had some fun playing corn hole and we did a lot of relaxing on the deck and also on the dock. There are many great spots to just sit and read and enjoy the view. Oh and we also saw some eagles, which was a nice added plus. Make sure to note that there is only a full size bed in the spare room. And the bathroom for that room is very tiny but it's oh so cute. At the time of our stay the grill was unusable so we had to cook indoors. Hopefully they're working on replacing it. It has certainly seen better days. Overall...we loved it and would enjoy staying here again.

Quiet, beautiful river views & comfortable home

The pictures in this listing only tell 1/2 the story - the actual visit tells the rest. The property listing is spot on with river views, comfortable outdoor seating with a deck & a screen porch along with a sunroom. It was hard to pick where to eat breakfast each morning!! A more than adequate kitchen is well stocked with really nothing lacking but the food you want to cook. The bedrooms are small as well as the 2nd bathroom, but the primary bedroom & bath are spacious. The bed in this room is soooo comfortable, no aches/pains for 4 nights! We would have liked to spend more time here, but working folks have to get back to reality. The property is somewhat out of town, so be prepared for a scenic drive. The hosts were more than helpful and accommodating in every way. Definitely one of the top 5 properties we've rented in the last 15 years using VRBO.

Wonderful getaway

Everything was as stated in the listing. The house was clean and comfortable. Beds were comfortable, loved the decor, wi-fi and A/C worked well. Might sound strange but all the lighting in the house was nice and bright (for my eyes that need reading glasses and lots of light to see or read). The location on the river was so peaceful and relaxing for our family of 4 for a last summer getaway before sending kids back to college. We caught plenty of crabs and even a catfish in the crab traps. Kayaking on the river was so peaceful, saw beautiful sunrise and sunsets on the dock. We cooked mostly while there and the kitchen had everything we needed. Food Lion was not far, convenient to get anything we forgot/needed. Ventured into town on one of the rainy days and tried Olivia's in the Village (owner and employees were so welcoming there), great food for the price. Also grabbed dessert from Sweet Tooth Cafe and Bakery to satisfy the sweet craving. Owners were very responsive to any questions we had throughout our stay. Highly recommend this home for a wonderful, relaxing stay on the river. Thank you!

I'm a filmmaker who specializes in social issues, my husband Scott is a US history teacher and we live in Charlottesville, Virginia. We have two sons, one of whom works at Pippin Hill Winery and the other who attends VCU. Our exuberant and amazingly friendly goldendoodle Harpo and our black ninja cat Moji round out the family. We love the outdoors and live in the foothills of the Shenandoah Mountains - but our hearts are happiest at the river.

We are experienced hosts, having offered an apartment in our primary home through AirBnb for five years. We pride ourselves on 5 star reviews, and you can rest assured that we are dedicated to making your stay amazing. We will always be just a phone call or text away!

I started coming to the Piankatank River when I was three years old, and it's home in so many ways. Scott and I were married here and raised our two boys fishing, crabbing and swimming in its waters. With the sale of my parents' river home in 2020, Scott and I bought this charming house and we are thrilled to continue making memories on this most beautiful of rivers. We'd love to share all the joys of river life with you.

The property is river front. It is an intimate experience with the water on the river side of the house. The dock is gorgeous with stairs leading down to the river for wading or launching of our two kayaks and paddle board, and beautiful views of both the sunrise AND sunset. We have a terrific fire pit, great waterside deck, gas grill, wood burning fireplace, lawn games, crab pots, life jackets, and even a large floating swim mat - you really just need to bring yourselves!
