The 3,500-square-foot Sun Runner is the brightest spot on the beach! The third level offers incredible views of the ocean and sunrises, and the sound offers beautiful sunset views. The third floor has been renovated and offers a great room with cathedral ceilings, new flooring, a half bath, and a comfy resort living room with a 55-inch LCD SmartTV with Netflix streaming . The brand new full kitchen has new cabinets, new granite countertops, new appliances, a breakfast island, tile floors, and an oceanfront dining area. Wide furnished decks are on all levels. The third-floor first bedroom is an oceanfront main bedroom with a king-size bed, a 32-inch LCD TV, a full bath, and sun deck access. Level two offers an oceanfront main bedroom featuring a king bed, a 32-inch LCD TV, a full bath, and deck access. The third bedroom is oceanfront with a twin-over-double bunk bed, one twin bed, and an LCD TV. This bedroom shares a bathroom with the fourth bedroom, which features a queen bed, an LCD TV, and an oceanfront deck. The fifth bedroom features a king bed, an LCD TV, a full bathroom, and deck access.

The ground floor has a game room with a pool table, a 32-inch LCD TV, a stereo, a kitchenette equipped with a full fridge, and an outside deck with a private hot tub. The theater room features a 65-inch LCD SmartTV with Netflix streaming, and seating for seven guests. The sixth bedroom is oceanfront with a twin-over-double bed, an LCD TV, and a full bathroom shared with the game room. The seventh bedroom features a twin-over-double bedroom, an LCD TV, and a bathroom shared with the game room. The laundry room is convenient to all the rooms. Guests can enjoy the outside shower, beach access, and plenty of parking.

Things to Know

It was a great place and location! Would definitely stay again! There are only one set of towels per person, so make sure you bring towels. There are no beach chairs, or umbrellas there to use. The beach is so close. Perfect views.

Perfect spot

This house is huge and in a perfect spot. Great view from every level with balcony access from all the rooms. The house was very clean and comfy. Great kitchen that was incredibly well stocked. Although we didn't use them the pool, hot tub, and game room are great extras. Onsite washer and dryer saved us from dirty clothes being repacked. Most bedrooms had ensuite bathrooms which would be amazing with a big group. Beach access is perfect. You can just look out any window and it's the ocean with no obstruction. Theater room was a fun touch with very comfy chairs.

Perfect view of the Ocean

Sun Runner #12R was awesome! It had all the items we needed for a great trip. Kitchen was fully stocked with everything needed for cooking. Awesome amenities from pool to hot tub to pool table and theater room. Most of all it had amazing view of the sunset and sunrise! Location is quiet and convenient to small grocery market, other shops and restaurants.

Great location!

Location was amazing.Steps away from the beach. The views from the top deck were amazing. Furniture like couches and round dining table with rolling chairs were really comfortable! Theater room was very comfortable as well! To be transparent with those looking for reviews, the initial entryway could use some painting and stairs need new carpeting. But don’t get discouraged when you enter because the home is very nice especially for the price in comparison with other homes that are oceanfront with private pool, hot tub, pool table and theater room. The home needs a little more attention to minor details but overall it has everything you need for an OBX vacation!

take it off the market

Great views and roomy, but the house needs a lot of work and cleaning. We heard and saw mice, saw ants and ant traps and mold in showers. While we were not expecting to use the pool, the pool was half filled with sand and the color was green with stuff in it. The area around the pool was littered and our ability to walk to the beach was frustrated by the lack of a gate to the beach. We had to set-up a ladder so we can climb every time we wanted to walk along the beach or fish. Really, the house has good bones, but it should be overhauled before its put back on the market for renting.

Don’t stay here!!!!

House was full of ant. They were in the kitchen, living room, bathroom, bedroom, bed, you name it and they were there. Then there was the mice and mouse droppings and urine in the kitchen cabinets, tv cabinets. The pool was full of sand and stagnant water and trash. Every sliding door in the place had something wrong with it. None of exhaust fans work in bathrooms. Every chair in theater room is broken. Paid over 2k for a four night stay and would have gotten a better experience at a $30 a night motel

Nice house layout and location but needs TLC.

Loved the view and location, but house needs some attention to maintenance. Dishwasher did not work and was never fixed during our 8 days even though we reported the issue. Ants everywhere. Towel rack in one bathroom hang off wall and shower curtain fell. Refrigerator freezer would not make ice and made noises. Sliding door to pool and hot tub are was off track and hard to close.

Run Down and filthy property

We stayed here two times before years ago and the house was meticulous. This third time the list of things that needed repair or were eye sores were endless. We ended up fixing things so we could use them. There is so much dust hanging from the walls. The ceiling fans are all extremely dusty. The decorations hanging on the walls have layers of dust. Ice maker in freezer doesn’t work. There was a fly in the refrigerator. The refrigerator doesn’t keep food really cold. There was duct tape in the fridge. Kitchen cabinets are falling off. Deck outside has a broken board that looks like it’s about to give. On second floor the railings are slanted and broken. Shades were broken we fixed them so they wouldn’t look so ugly. The fan in second floor bathroom doesn’t work and is bare and uncovered. Shower rod in another bathroom fell off due to broken holder. Seat in the theatre was broken, we fixed it. The slide doors on first and third floor are so full of sand or un greased you can barely open and close them. The house is extremely run down. It was very expensive and everywhere you were you saw something unattractive. The wainscoting is peeling off the walls, missing towel rod for another bathroom. I have pictures of all of it. The house was very dirty. We cleaned all floors before we used it. The good things- the view and sound of the ocean, the four slice toaster, the theatre after we fixed the seat. We won’t be returning to this house.

Very disappointing!

This house needs LOTS of TLC. The location of this home is excellent and after that everything is sub par. The pool and pool area are poorly maintained. The home is dingy - it needs a deep cleaning. Deck railings are loose and there are many indoor repairs that need to be taken care of. We had an issue with ants. The kitchen is not well stocked. Considering the cost of this home, it was extremely disappointing. Hopefully whoever buys this home will restore it.

Great location, ok house

This is our second year at Sun Runner, the location and proximity to the beach is perfect! It is clear that some repairs have been done since 2021, but the house still needs some love. Now that it's for sale, we hope the right buyer will come along and give it the attention it deserves.

Great location... just weren't ready for us

House location was great. Weather was fantastic. The description of the house being newly renovated was not accurate. Broken blinds and screens, refrigerator ice maker was broken. Generally just worn looking. Driveway was covered with 3-4 feet of sand and not passable. Took over two hours to finally get in. Kitchen could have been cleaned better and the carpeted areas were full of sand and not swept.

We enjoyed our stay mostly. The property could use some refreshing and a deep clean wouldn't hurt. The floors were pretty dirty and there were alot of ants. They did send someone to spray and that helped. The house itself is in a great location and has alot of nice amenities.

Can't beat the view

We came to OBX in the off season which we do not normally do. This home did not disappoint. The view was amazing and the access to the beach was steps away. The theater room was pretty cool. Besides some maintenence the owner needs to address, I would not hesitate to rent this again.

Renter beware

Definitely listen to the reviews for this house. I’ll start with the positives. Pros: View and location are amazing Furniture is comfortable Response to issues was prompt and courteous The kitchen was pretty well equipped Cons: The house needs so many little things - the fridge is duct taped and door shelves fell off, some of the windows are inoperable, there are bathroom vents missing, worn carpet, etc. The oven door broke while we were there - the realty company came out and was able to do a quick fix so that we could have Thanksgiving The outside deck railings had a lot of loose slats and we had a lot of children - again the company sent someone out to fix them The house was not very clean - there was mildew on shower curtains and the floors, counters and tables were dirty. There was also no broom. The company sent over a broom and shower curtains. We just cleaned things up ourselves Lastly we found two roaches while we were there - thankfully nothing beyond that. All in all, we would not stay here again. The realty company was great, but the owners need to put some investment into this house!

Beautiful home close to the ocean!

We really enjoyed our stay at Sun Runner for the first week of August. We loved its proximity to the ocean and its various amenities. The home needs some repairs (water leaks, ants), but that's to be expected after a busy summer hosting many renters. We have been to OBX several times, and would definitely consider renting this home again if it gets a little TLC.

Owner need to take a break from renting this to properly maintain and address safety and cleanlin...

It is a shame that this property is so poorly maintained because the location is perfect and amenities could be amazing. We walked in to a very filthy home which we had to clean before we could use the kitchen or bedrooms. The carpet is very dirty, the inside of the cabinets were filthy and therefore we had to wash all dishes and utensils before use. We had a missing smoke detector which was repaired when we called, but the other issues we reported such as exposed exhaust vents and lighting, mold in bathrooms, ripped screen doors, towel bars hanging from walls, were never fixed. The repairman left his ladder in the house, said he would be back and never returned. The deck facing the ocean is unsafe, spindles and rails are very loose and there were ants all over the media room. Vacasa has promised to refund a small portion of our money but that will not change the negative impact this had on our family vacation.

Fantastic location House needs work

The location and beach access were wonderful. There were a lot of issues with things in the house. Had a major leak after a storm. While they came out to look at it, the solution was to put towels on it. 🤦‍♀️ Many broken items, hole in dining room wall, dune is over fence so after a storm or windy day, the pool was full of sand and debris. Towel bars falling off the walls. Missing shelf in upstairs fridge, broken shelf in door of freezer. Box tape used to hold up screen on porch. Several rails in deck loose enough they could move from side to side. AC programmed in a way that it took several adults to figure out how to cool house down. Wear shoes on deck! Couple splinters removed from little feet and there are many nails pushing up thru the boards. We got 10 bath towels for 14 people. After a couple phone calls and having to get my BP up they delivered extra. It’s a shame the owner doesn’t care to keep the property to the standards I had come to expect from Hatteras Realty.

loved the views

Loved the ocean view and sunrise from the decks. Viewed the sunset from the large 3rd floor window. The house was awsome and accommodated all 12 of us sitting arouind the table for a meal. Definately a great week. Thanks.

Great vacation if you can overlook the flaws and service

The house was in a great spot and overall really nice. Great movie room, pool table and common areas. The location is beautiful as it was directly on the beach with lots of parking. The major downfall was that several things needed repair or renovation. ( broken dishwasher, no ice from freezer, leaky faucet, running toilet, missing smoke detectors, uncovered light fixtures) We contacted Vacasa management twice during the week. The first time we were told maintenance would be coming shortly. The second time, they said they would get back to us shortly. No one ever came and we were not gotten back to. All in all, it was a good stay as it was March and we did not pay high season rates. Had we paid a lot more, we would have been much more upset about the lack of service.

sun runner review

We had a great time and the property was a good size for us. We loved having the pool. Issues were drains were slow and kitchen sink backed up so we called maintenance. I could never get a live person and from the time I first reported the issues until fixed was 14 hours. Steve called to let me know maintenance on the way about 1 pm. Casey came and fixed everything but it would've been nice for someone to acknowledge that they received my emails and phone calls and let me know that the message had been received and issue would be resolved. You have some nails poking out on the decks, loose ballisters on the upper deck and black mold in the upper bedroom. Not really satisfactory for the amount of $$ paid. I wouldn't rent this particular property again.
