Gaze out at the surf, sea and sky from the great room windows of Second Story and you, your family, and friends will be drawn into the magic of this 5 bedroom, 3 bath home. Whether enjoying lively feasts around the large dining room table from which everyone has a view, snuggling around a crackling fire, or cheering for the big game in the media room, Second Story is designed to be a place for you to connect, make memories, and relax by the sea.

Second Story features a great room with large windows offering views from the large kitchen, a cozy library, and plenty of seating area near the fireplace and around the long dining room table. Tucked behind the great room are four literary themed bedrooms - Nature, Humor, Mystery, and Fantasy - and two bathrooms. The large master with ensuite bath is located on the first level. It has the Travel/Adventure theme and also gives you extra privacy with its own sitting area and television. The garage acts as a game room with a pool table, ping pong, foosball and a putt-putt green, and it leads to a large media and game room with ample seating in front of a 75-inch screen TV.

Tucked into a wooded neighborhood and sitting on a low cliff overlooking the ocean, you will be able to enjoy the view, the hot tub, a hot outdoor shower, a star studded night and plenty of privacy and solitude. A three minute walk takes you to the private neighborhood beach access, with miles of sandy beach and dramatic cliffs to enjoy. Second Story is only minutes from the active fishing port of Newport where you will find many activities to keep you busy, including the historic bayfront and the Nye Beach district, both packed with wonderful restaurants and shops!

Sleeps up to 10 - 5 Bedrooms, 4 Kings (two can be split into two twins with 72 hour prior notice), 1 Queen, 2 Queen sofa sleepers, 3 Bath.
Vehicles: Licensed for 5 (Strictly enforced- No street parking allowed)
Standard: 3 night minimum; Summer & Holidays: 3-4 night minimum.

Age Requirement: The primary registered guest must be at least 26 years of age. The majority of guests must be over 25, or children under adult supervision.

This home has a 3-dog maximum occupancy! Pet Guests: One time $35+tax fee per dog. Pet fees are not included in the original reservation.

Excellent get away

This house is great for a family get together. Plenty of seating around the table for meals and things to keep the kids busy. The media room was a big hit with the piano and electronic drum set! Easy to get to the beach and we got lucky with some sun breaks in February.

Review

Beautiful property. Reception is spotty outside the house so make sure key entry arrangements are clear before you get there. The stormy conditions altered the electronic door lock and we had a little trouble getting in but it all worked out in the end. Also, this property is listed on both Vrbo and on a more local website. Better to use the local website as the vrbo site added on a lot of fees that we couldn’t recover.

Totally Chill

Our family get together was w a y too short, we certainly should have booked a longer stay. This home provided all the comforts and amenities of a resort. We loved the relaxing atmosphere, the homes layout for a large family with pets and the huge selection of games and books. Very impressive and am planning another get together for next year.

Amazing Oasis

This home was exactly as described, and then some! This was the perfect place for our team to hide away and work our company’s next year. We received all kinds of weather, with the views from the windows, we were never disappointed. The only small hiccup was that we had absolutely no cell service. There is Wi-Fi, and it actually made it a much quieter week for us! We were able to easily order a cab into the city for dinner at our favorite restraint, Clearwater, on the bay front. All around this was the most enjoyable stay!

A wonderful home for a family getaway

The home is so beautiful, and so well cared for. It's obvious that a lot of thought has gone into making this property a home: the themed bedrooms, the well-appointed bookshelves, and the fully equipped kitchen were just a few of our favorites. Location, Location, Location!

Location, location, location, fabulous! The new hot tub on the deck was incredible! The wide open spaces were wonderful! Loved the spaciousness of the kitchen. We appreciated the heater that was provided for the downstairs bedroom. Beach access was quite convenient, just a five minute walk from the house. The kitchen needs a SERIOUS update (refrigerator w/ filtered water and an ice dispenser would be a great start as well as new countertops and a new paint job on the cabinets, fyi, the Insta Hot faucet was neither instant nor hot) as do the bathrooms, for the big ticket price that is being charged. It also peculiar that there are no grab bars in any of the three bathroom showers. It would be beneficial to add them to at least one of the showers. Another oddity was the lack of identification on the three vessels holding what I would assume were shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. I could never figure out which was which. Two of the three mornings we woke up to having the garbage can tipped over and we had to pick up all of the strewn debris, an unpleasant task for sure. This was likely due to racoons or other wildlife. A metal or wooden “corral” with doors would likely combat this issue. Speaking of garbage, the verbiage in the guide, regarding garbage being picked up on Monday is very vague. I wound up running out to the street to one of the different trucks that were picking up garbage/recycling and asking if we were supposed to have pulled the containers out to the street. He initially looked at me blankly but in the end said they didn’t pick up for the house we were staying in. It would be beneficial to have more specific instructions on what is required by your guests. I found it peculiar that we were told there was only parking available for 5 cars when, clearly, there was room for twice that many. An emergency contact phone number for the manager should be in a much more obvious place (such as on the refrigerator door). One last issue, the email with the check-in information was not accurate. The third paragraph states there are two attached files (1 w/ directions and another w/ the Rental Agreement) yet there is only one. I contacted the management company requesting that they resend w/ both files. They resent but there still was only one file. Come to find out they had been combined BUT there is no title/heading of Rental Agreement in that file. Confusing AND time consuming.

2nd Story Review

We were disappointed that the hot tub did not work at all. Water was cold. Jacuzzi jets did not work. It had a substantial leak and was losing 25% of the water per day. We could not use it. That said, it is a beautiful home in a great location, and perfect for our family.

Roomy House for Groups

Our stay was 8 - 9 days. We hosted folks from my spouse's family the first 4-5 days and from my extended family the rest of the time. Everyone enjoyed the home. We filled the refrigerator and used the plentiful dish and glassware for the food we prepared and brought in from the great restaurants in the vicinity. The beach was wonderful when the fog moved out, but we walked a lot even with the fog. It was a welcome break after 3 years of no travel.

Great stay for the whole family

My husband, two large teenage boys, dog and I were able to stay with my sister, her husband, two grown children, dog and my mom all in one house. It was so fun to eat together and hang out and play games and do a puzzle. The walk to the beach is really close and easy. It was nice that we could drive my 86 year old Mom down and she could sit while we walked the beach. We will stay again!

Peaceful Retreat

We stayed here to celebrate my parent’s 50th anniversary. All the kids and grandkids (14 total) snuggled in nicely. The house is in an amazing location with fabulous beach and ocean views. Private beach access was a short walk away and the beach was nearly empty for miles. This was a nice treat given it’s also so close to Newport. The kitchen and main living area were larger than we expected and cooking from the open kitchen was fantastic with the ocean view. Bedrooms were as described and bedding was clean and comfortable. Game room in the garage and movie theater in the basement kept the kids busy and entertained. Bathrooms were adequate, but a little dated and linoleum was lifting from shower spray escaping the curtains. There were a few cobwebs in corners of windows but it was minor. We had trouble getting the fireplace to draft well, but weather was great and we didn’t need the fire. There was also a minor drip from the center beam after a minor rain, not a major issue for us, but it should be fixed to keep the house in good condition. Sitting on the deck was perfect! We would stay here again, mostly because the view and location were so nice.

Great for a large family!!!

The house was fantastic for our large group. We were celebrating my mom's 75th birthday so there was a large age range of people in the house. Unfortunately, the weather was terrible while we were there but the house had something for everyone to do! There was a game-room downstairs that kept kids and adults busy. A large screen TV in the theater room for watching sports and movies. There was a beautiful view of the ocean with these great conversation areas all over the living/diving room. The kitchen was fully equipped for a large group. There was also plenty of seats at the dining table(s) for everyone to eat together. It is a personal pet peeve of mine when you rent a house that sleeps 14 and there is a dining table for 6. My whole family agreed we would come back to this house again anytime! If there was one downside to this house it was that the main living/kitchen area was on the second floor (hence the name Second Story). We knew that going in, but it was a little tricky for some in our group to navigate the stairs every time we left.

Relaxing stay

The house and the location were lovely. The kitchen was very well appointed. The cleanliness left a bit to be desired, but everything else made up for it. Beach access was very close by (3 minute walk or a very quick car ride down a private drive for older guests) and the beach was wonderful and pretty private.

Best vacation rental ever

usually big houses that can cook for a lot have a horrible selection cooking/eating supplies but this house had everything even crab crackers, wine opener and pasta bowls. things most houses never have! the view was amazing and the house was spacious. comfortable beds, lots of towels, big soft puffy pillows and plenty of them. the game room was a welcome surprise with ping pong pool and foosball and the media room was awesome! parking was ample for the number of people the house holds. plenty of room for the 5 allowed vehicles. the walk to the beach is a nice stroll but the walk home is all uphill. gradual but uphill ! the hot tub is small and looks old but besides needing a new cover it was crystal clean and hot! another surprising bonus in a vacation rental. if this home is any indication of how well Sweet Homes Vacation Rentals cares for their homes i would recommend them always.

Perfect for large family and dogs

This house worked out great for our family of 6 adults and our dogs. Everyone got their own bedroom with large comfortable beds, and there was more than enough room to spread out and relax throughout the house. The listing pics are accurate, the house was clean, and the kitchen was very well stocked- we cooked multiple breakfasts and dinners. The view is unbeatable and a quick walk to the beach made the location of the house perfect for us! Would absolutely stay again

Amazing Family Holiday

Second Story in South Beach is a lovely home with tons of space.! 13 of us enjoyed this home for 5 days and nights. We cooked all our meals in this well stocked kitchen! And ate at the table that seats 14. Comfortable beds. Quiet neighborhood with get access to the beach. We would definitely rent this place again!

Birthday Weekend Bliss

Honestly, the photos of this property do not to do it justice. Usually pictures look better than the actual property (and the photos ARE nice), but this place is absolutely gorgeous. The kitchen and bathrooms haven't been updated but honestly we didn't not care at all. The living space is PERFECT for a group. The view is out of this world. Being in the hot tub while it was drizzling outside and listening to the waves crashing was so wonderful I cannot even describe. We made several big dinners in the huge kitchen and were all able to dine together at the giant table. We played poker and other board games and there are so many adorable little places to plop and watch the sunrise or set in small groups. We all said we will definitely book again. Thank you so much for an awesome birthday getaway.

Perfect dream of a beach house!

This property far exceeded our expectations. It is HUGE. The kitchen is enormous and well stocked with kitchen essentials. Plenty of towels and bedding to go around. The rooms were perfect and the basement suite suited our needs so well. My husband and I stayed in there with our three children and it was so roomy. The only thing that was a bummer was the pull out couch seemed to be broken (the head of the bed tipped down toward the floor) so we couldn’t use that. Location could not be better, and man, that view! So good. The beach was a few minute walk away and beautiful. Property management assisted with a couple needs quickly and we’re so kind. We will definitely be coming back - we’re already talking about making this a regular destination. We stayed with 9 adults, kids ages 8, 7, 6, 2, and an infant. It was perfect. We only have good things to say!

Awesome beach house!

This place was perfect for our family reunion. It was everything the description said. Very well supplied kitchen, lots of towels in the bathrooms. Plenty of room for our group of 14. The walk to the beach is very easy and only takes a couple minutes. The view is amazing from the kitchen and living room. We would love to come back and stay again- we really enjoyed it!

The property was just as wonderful as all the reviews said! The view is incredible and I especially enjoyed sitting in the hot tub listening to the ocean and looking at the stars on a clear night. We watched whales from the living room, made a nice dinner in the open concept kitchen, played games in the game room- it was all so perfect, no one wanted to leave to go anywhere. The walk to the beach was incredibly easy and quick, everyone was so happy with their comfortable beds, staff were super easy and hospitable to work with-I couldn't have asked for a better all around experience!

Beautiful house and view

Loved the house, especially the view, the big kitchen and the huge table. We had 11 family members and usually have to banish the kids to a “kids’ table” but here we were all able to sit together. Kids (3 of them ages 7-10) slept in the media room which also provided hours or entertainment for them during the day. Adults enjoyed the hot tub, stunning view and easy beach access. We all appreciated the WARM outdoor shower after long, sandy days at the beach. Beds were comfortable and clean. Kitchen is stocked with plenty of pots, pans, baking trays/dishes, and glasses, plates, utensils, but not with much in the way of ingredients (bring your own basics like salt, olive oil, pepper, etc).
