Incredible Setting & Views with Great Layout...BUT, You Need to Know
This property goes above & beyond to capture mountain views: woke to them, bathed in the jacuzzi with them, surrounded via the living room, and we even enjoyed them downstairs when playing pool & working out.
The open layout worked great for my daughter upstairs & my son & girlfriend downstairs. The kitchen & dinning room were perfect for eating together. The radiant floor heating & gas fireplaces kept us easily warm.
Overall we were fairly happy we stayed there, but there are some things that could have been better & things I feel anyone who stays here needs to know. We've stayed at several VRBO's in over 5 years & have never had issues like we experienced this time:
1. Owner did not provide access information prior to our visit & I did not have any response back for over 2 hours after our check in time despite messaging them via the VRBO app (only option) since early morning on day of arrival. Ensure you get them at least 24 hours in advance & direct cell #. Owner later said her phone died, she thought we were coming the day after despite prior messages confirming dates, and she said she thought she uploaded the access info. I understand accidents happen, however, VRBO should ensure access info is uploaded on their site to prevent these issues or be able to give the info to you if owner is unavailable. We were on phone for 2 hours trying to rearrange our lodging with VRBO (very inefficient & unreliable process) with a car full of groceries & stuck in the snow unable to get up road until we finally heard from owner for door code. We missed an entire day with my son since he couldn't meet us until we had entry which eventually got too risky with the snow by the time we were able to enter. Not sure I'll ever get my hubby to agree to another VRBO. Owner did give a $100 credit for our "inconvenience".
2. Although only ~2 inches (later turned to ice) & my 20+ years living in snow, Owner should have mentioned that without chains or 4-WD you will get stuck & safety risks on the steep & winding narrow roads. Several hours spent digging the road out with vehicles stuck.
3. Food stains on furniture, two nasty boogers on our bed, carpet stained with what looks like urine & fecal matter, & the oven burned off gasses from stuck-on food requiring windows opened when using.
4. Radiant heating makes house noises-just be aware. With all the beautiful wood floors & open design, house is not quiet in general.
5. Poor cell service was an issue for work.
