Yurt at Stillhouse Farm offers a unique place to stay in a private setting, less than 5 miles from W&L and VMI campuses.
The yurt is facing a spring fed creek which can be heard from the deck along with owls, turkey, and other wildlife.
Plenty of outdoor space to enjoy. An outdoor fireplace on the patio that's right off the yurt deck with plenty of firewood provided. Also, a larger fire pit closer to the creek to enjoy a larger fire.
We raise sheep, cattle, and chickens. No neighbors, including host, in sight or sound.
High speed internet makes for an ideal getaway where you can still work, if necessary.

Great Location and Stay

Great place for W&L Graduation Week

We stayed here for our daughter's graduation and it was a wonderful respite from the busyness of activities. From the goat herd grazing the property to the stars in the clear night sky to the warm welcome by the property owners and the awesome outdoor pavilion, it was everything we needed and more! Highly recommend!

Great place for travel with kids

Our first time in a round house was a great time. Separate sleeping quarters up in the lift for those comfortable with stairs. The hosts are very accommodating. Be prepared for giant chocolate chip cookies.

Such a fun place to stay! Super clean and quiet. The complimentary cookies and s’mores station were awesome. And the fresh sourdough bread is worth the price! Would definitely stay here again.

The Yurt is one of our favorite stays! The kitchen is well appointed and the yurt was very comfortable. The baked goods were awesome! The beef is fantastic and was a great quick meal on the grill at the Yurt. The hike up to watch the sunset was fun. A fantastic stay for our family!

Yurt Living

Our family stayed for one night en route to Washington DC. Beautiful setting, cozy and well appointed accommodation, and brings a real feeling of adventure. Our three kids voted this the best part of our vacation. We all loved it. Highly recommended!

Incredible unique stay!

Probably the most unique place my family has ever stayed! The Stillhouse Farm Yurt was inviting and welcoming and had all the basic essentials needed for a family. The kids loved the loft area, and there were plenty of beds for our family of 7. The outdoor space and fireplace was a hit. And the baked goods are absolutely delicious. A must-try! Zach and April are wonderful hosts, quick to respond and very accommodating. Looking forward to coming back again!

Wonderful stay in awesome yurt!

We had a wonderful 3 day vacations in yurt. Very clean, well stacked, and very responsive hosts. The muffins and breakfast basket were the perfect touch and were very tasty!!! The yurt is in great place, very peaceful, close to a beautiful creek, also close to Lexington and breweries. Thank you Zach and April!!! We are already planning to be back!

Yurt at Stillhouse Farm

My husband, 3-year-old daughter, and I had a fantastic 4 day/ 3-night stay at the Yurt! We were greeted by April's incredible cookies and the animals roaming the pasture. We were close enough to downtown Lexington that we were able to head into the city and have incredible dinner and beers each evening. We were also able to quickly get to the Natural Bridge and other gorgeous spots....it was absolutely the best of both worlds. We can't thank the Nix family enough for having us and we look forward to returning again soon!

Amazing Yurt

We had a great stay. The outside fireplace is wonderful with dry logs for great fires. Inside is cozy and modern with lots of very nice blankets. Great size for 6 adults. We only had 4 but felt that 2 more would have been easy to accommodate. Kitchen fully equipped with everything one might need . Yummy cookies on arrival. S’mores corner with the fixings. Cute tv to move around in main level. So much fun.

Wonderful stay!

We had such a fantastic three night trip made more fun with a great stay in the Yurt! The location feels remote and gives you a camp feel with luxuries of a bathroom, ac and a bed. The kids loved finding sheep and seeing deer everyday. We had campfires every night and sat under the stars. The kids built forts in the loft and collected firewood and loved making s’mores. The owners were incredibly responsive to any question and went above the call when we only brought pods for coffee. A Kuerig showed up on a picnic table in an hour! Thank you!!! We highly recommend.

Fun and super clean get away

The yurt was exactly as advertised. It was extremely clean and well stocked with towels, blankets, and other basics. The property was beautiful. We saw a family of deer every day spend time very close to us to eat and play. It’s very dark at night to see the stars (and a very dark drive back into the property at night!). We ordered fresh made bread from April and it was so good and huge! Lexington was a lovely town. We visited the natural bridge, cave mountain lake, downtown, VMI, oak grove cemetery, and saw a movie at Hulls drive in. The whole family enjoyed all of it. We would definitely come back and stay there again.

Perfect winter getaway

I spent 4 nights at the yurt December 26-30. Initially, I reached out to April to make sure it was warm enough. I hadn’t seen December reviews. There is a wood stove inside but I didn’t use it. There is a separate heating unit that kept us warm. I encourage you to consider spending time here in the beautiful winter time! A couple of friends came from Charlottesville to stay for a night. They, too, give it 5 stars. April and Zach were wonderful hosts. Several of their sheep had lambs in the last week. One morning the sheep were grazing outside of the yurt. It was fun. The bed is very comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked. The loft has a ship’s type ladder. You can talk to April about any concerns. One of my friends is 70. Originally when I showed her the pictures online, she thought she would be fine. She did choose to sleep downstairs. That is the only logistical concern to consider. Her daughter loved it in the loft. We lit a fire outside one night and enjoyed making s’mores. The yurt had all the fixings at the “s’mores station.” Since I go to Lexington to meet my friends once a year, I asked them if they were comfortable. They loved it. We will all be back!

This property exceeded all expectations. All of the little thoughtful details did not go unnoticed. From the cookies at arrival, the fresh eggs in the fridge, and the s'more supplies -all top notch. I am a clean freak & white glove inspect all properties I stay at; this property passed the test with flying colors. One night the outside temp got down to the 30's. However, the heat and woodstove kept the yurt very warm! I will 100% consider this property again if I come this way. I've already shared the details with friends! Beautiful & cozy. Tip: Doordash will deliver. And if you have more than one female staying you may want to bring an extra mirror. One mirror in the property (bathroom) proved difficult for myself & two teenage girls to share. About 30min drive to all of the kid attractions -safari park, natural bridge pary & caverns.

Amazing stay

Had a great stay and enjoyed our first time in a yurt. The property is meticulously maintained in a beautiful setting outside of Lexington. Easy access to Lexington, and natural bridge areas. The owners are Super assessable and we even were able to take advantage of fresh baked goods for the morning, which were amazing, our compliments to the Baker! Cooked s’mores In the outdoor fireplace and enjoyed a nice relaxing evening out of town. Definitely will be back again!

Awesome Yurt in a beautiful location

If I could give this property a higher rating than 5, I definitely would. We absolutely LOVED every part of this experience. Our hosts were so hospitable. They left out chocolate chip cookies upon our arrival and the wood for the outdoor fireplace was ready to go. The location was absolutely beautiful and the yurt was amazing! I highly recommend walking to the top of the property to catch the sunset! We just made it in time and what a sight! The inside of the yurt was spotless and 100% comfortable for our entire family. I so wish that we had stayed longer! We can't wait to return. This location is also very close to the Shenandoah National Park and we enjoyed checking out this beautiful park on our way to the yurt! I would highly recommend this experience to everyone!!
