The Historic Escape, originally The "Louis Johnson Diffee House" is a newly renovated charming home offering 3 BR, 2.5 bath & a large front porch with a custom daybed swing. A stones throw away from JH Adams Inn and walking distance to many restaurants such as Sweet Old Bills BBQ, Tipsy’s Tacos, Sweet Josephine’s bakery and an award winning craft brewery, Brown Truck Brewery. Minutes to High Point University, HP Market and the new Rockers Baseball Stadium.

THINGS TO NOTE:

- ADDITIONAL GUESTS WILL ONLY BE ALLOWED UPON REQUEST, AND GIVEN PERMISSION.

- We RENT ONLY to couples, families, and responsible adults 21 and OLDER.

- Quiet hours are 10pm-8am.

-Parking is available behind the house.

This is our 2nd stay at this exquisite home while working in High Point. It is filled with every amenity you can think of, is spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated and also has very comfy beds. We love this hidden gem in High Point!

Fantastic!

Charming house and neighborhood! This was the best stocked VRBO we’ve ever stayed on. The owners really want you to feel at home and have coffee, toiletries, etc. available for use during your stay. The beds were very comfortable. We will definitely stay here again.

Beautiful historic home.

We were in town for a wedding and had my adult children with us. The house was very clean and the beds were comfortable. we liked how they eyes the interior but kept much of historical quality of the home. The front porch was very comfortable and was a great place to enjoy our morning coffee. They had several options of coffee and creamer and even had a latte frother. I would highly recommend this home and would stay there again if we were in the area.

Great Location, Needs TLC

The most remarkable aspect of this property was undoubtedly its prime location, which played a pivotal role in our decision to select this home. However, a closer inspection revealed that the property was in need of significant maintenance. The bedroom walls appeared unfinished, with visible cracks and areas requiring patchwork and fresh paint. The carpets upstairs were dirty and stained, and the bathroom sink was obstructed by hair. Furthermore, it was apparent that bugs had taken up residence in the home before our visit, as their presence could be observed on various surfaces throughout the house.

WONDERFUL location and charming home!

Came to town for HPU orientation and stayed at this home two nights. Absolutely ADORABLE, lots of seating, space and places to relax...especially the front porch! Beds were VERY comfortable and fans are in each room. Location was so close to everything and loved their recommendation book of coffee (SO CLOSE BY) and dining. Greensboro Trip

We came in town for the women’s ACC Tournament. It took about a half hour to get to the stadium but that was ok. We loved the house but some of the ladies have trouble going up and down stairs. Since all the bedrooms were upstairs it wasn’t a perfect fit for us but we made it work. But the house was perfect, we all loved it very much.

Beautiful home in High Point

This beautiful home was centrally located near all our events for a friend’s wedding. Self check in/out was made easy with a key code. The welcome basket & other amenities were very nice. The home was very comfortable, spacious and nicely decorated. We enjoyed relaxing here between events. I would definitely recommend staying here.

A beautifully refinished historic home

The owners have done a wonderful job restoring a historic home to a lovely level of comfort and design. Many thoughtful amenities were included (kcups, snack basket, hairdryer). The linens and mattresses were high quality. The front porch is as beautiful as pictured and perfect for a relaxing afternoon. Super close to High Point University so it made for a great stay for family weekend. This is a great VRBO property and communication with the owners was pleasant and responsive. My only suggestion would be to figure out a landscaping solution to the backyard. Shade from a large tree prevents grass from growing so the ground is either very dry dirt or wet and muddy after a rain. Since this was our main entry and exit, we felt that we were tracking a lot of dirt into the house. Not a huge concern but would be a great addition to have that addressed somehow. Hoping we have another family trip to HPU to allow us a return visit to this lovely home!

Great House for HPU visit

December Getaway

Shh! Our experience was so nice, we are inclined to keep this a "best-kept secret" so we don't have competition for future availability! The hosts thought of everything you could need for a short stay. The house decor is absolutely beautiful, and the Christmas touches throughout were a very welcome touch...and can we talk about that porch swing? Come on! We can't wait to plan a stay when the weather is nice so we can take full advantage of that! The bedrooms were all comfortably furnished, and we loved coming in from the cold weather to enjoy the coffee bar in the kitchen. Aside from a lovely home, we appreciated the prompt replies to our questions from the hosts. We definitely recommend this rental! Thank you to our hosts!

Best VRBO we've stayed in

Absolutely perfect! The location of this home was perfect. Close walk to restaurants, coffee shops, etc. Our meetings were at High Point University and it is a close 5 min drive. Parking is available and easy Fully stocked and beautifully decorated. Kitchen was stocked like a home not a rental. It was easy to cook full meals. The front porch is great for a morning cup of coffee or afternoon wine. Back yard would be great to hang out around the fire.
