Cedar Cove is a beautiful three-bedroom, two bath cabin! The accommodation is tucked away in the woods with a stocked lake and fishing dock at the end of the property’s nature trail including a two-story playhouse decorated and furnished for fun. Cedar Cove, one of the most charming Mentone cabin rentals, features upscale rustic décor. Guests have access to a wood-burning fireplace, a hot tub, flat screen TVs, a washer and dryer and much more!

Couples can enjoy themselves by taking in the scenery from one of the two screened porches, strolling on the wooded trail to the lake or watching a romantic comedy while snuggled up on the leather sofa. Families can have an equally special time with all the activities available, including roasting marshmallows over the extra-large firepit or fishing down at the dock.

Disappointed

We were extremely disappointed to find that the advertised features were far from satisfactory. The cabin's interior was dusty and unclean, and the bedrooms had a musty odor. Moreover, the dresser drawers contained garbage from previous occupants, and the screened porches had holes that were unacceptable. To add insult to injury, the hammock was too dirty to use, and the fishing pond had small fish, which was a huge letdown. The playhouse had cobwebs, and the overall cleanliness of the property was extremely poor. Despite our expectations of encountering some bugs in the natural surroundings, it was evident that the property had not been thoroughly cleaned in quite some time.

Nice little get away!

The cabin was great. Weather did not cooperate for any outdoor activity but we did enjoy the hot tub and family time in front of the fireplace. The book collection is fantastic and the cabin is well stocked. It was a nice relaxing weekend.

Great location, private but close to all the must see attractions.

We enjoyed this cabin for our trip. Nice private location but only minutes away from DeSota Falls/Park and little River canyon. Cabin was very clean and well equipped with all you need. We loved the fire pit area and trail to pond. We especially enjoyed our breakfast at The Hatter’s Cafe (very cute place and food was fabulous) lunch at the Wild Flower cafe on our way home was a great way to end our visit to Mentone.

Great potential

Great potential. Nice house. Secluded. The outside lights for the grill area did not work and owner could not resolve. So, could not see to figure out how gas grill worked and there were no directions in the property book. The directions in property book for tv were outdated. The internet was not good during the day and became cripplingly bad at night. We measured the download rate between 1 and 1.5 Mbps in the evening. They had firewood but it was not dry enough to burn well. There was some animal(s) scratching around in the walls or ceiling of main bedroom that woke us up throughout the night.

New Years Family Getaway

We had the best time here. The property was just as it appeared online. We had plenty of room for our family of 5. We did a good bit of cooking and had everything we needed appliance and pots/pans wise. I read a previous review before we arrived about the beds being uncomfortable and worn out & that made me a little nervous bc I love a good nights sleep but we didn’t have any issues. We found all the beds to be very comfortable! We would definitely stay here again!

Thanksgiving 2021

Our experience at the cabin exceeded my expectations! We had the most relaxing Thanksgiving ever. This cabin had something for our entire family from board games, hottub, books galore, relaxing on covered porches, and sitting by the firepit outside. We could not have hoped for a better experience. My teen son enjoyed the xbox, board games, and fishing; while my 9 year old stayed in the two story playhouse. It was seriously hard to leave!

2021 vacation

The cabin was well stocked and very cozy. My 16 year old was thrilled with the selection of board and card games and we enjoyed playing them. We also enjoyed morning visits from Rufus the neighbors dog. We would definitely stay here again!

in need of attention and owner intervention with rental agency.

this is an older cabin with expected shortcomings. did not expect kitchen cabinets to be in such condition . the island face came loose when opening silverware drawer and contents fell to the ground. on inspection i noted the issue had been previously propped up with zip ties and pots upended to hold up the runners/ the corner unit with a large lazy susan had many bottles of oils, seasonings, etc that had been neglected many times by housekeeping. so much so that most were discolored and or melted into solid masses. the floors were dirty in the downstairs. we swept and mopped after i noticed my feet were black after unloading the car. the upstairs bunkroom had no sheets on the bed only mattress covers and comforters. there was no room for groceries except for limited counter space as the cabinets were full of multiple dishes and glass ware,. the fire pit outside had not been tended to in many days and was overfilled with debris and ashes. as others had noted the pond was so reeded with moss and cattails in front of the dock that fishing was very difficult. this is not an overall condemnation of the property and our stay. hopefully the owners will take this as a call to action. they were responsive to our issues . the badly worn out mattresses were probably the worst issue and had been noted by others prior to us as an issue. we left a day early.

Wonderful vacation rental

This cabin was great! Stocked pond, two story playhouse for the grand kids, big camp ring with tons of seating. The hot tub was very clean, well stocked kitchen, tons of towels and we will go back again.

Girls Getaway

The property was good for our ladies getaway. Three of us enjoyed the house. The kitchen island is perfect for gathering around for a meal, games and projects. We cooked all our meals there and the kitchen was amply stocked. The bathrooms were clean and supplied shampoo etc. We enjoyed the fire pit and roasted marshmallows for a few hours on the night we arrived. The chairs around it were comfortable and the fire ring is large. The path to the pond is clear and the deck at the pond was nice. We enjoyed casting from the deck, but didn't catch anything except a cattail. There is wildlife - we had fun seeing deer, tiny frogs and the last morning, there was a turtle on the ramp up the back porch. A few things to note - The screened in porches are a great asset to the house but while the table on the back porch was set nicely, but the table placemats and chair cushions were dirty. Even though the porches are screened in, the furniture and floors of the porches were quite dusty/sandy and not good for bare feet. Over all we enjoyed our stay!

Great Get-away

We had no trouble finding it or entering the property. It was nicely appointed and comfortable. We especially enjoyed the screened porches and listening to the soundtrack of the wildlife. Early morning we saw deer. The area was a beautiful place to visit with plenty to engage us. The cabin a wonderful place to retreat to.

Wonderful Stay!

Overall, this was a great cabin. It comfortably slept 4 adults and one child. The amount of dvds, books and games this place had was astounding! You could stay indoors the entire time. The place looks much better than the photos. There was also plenty of amenities, kitchen and bath. There were a few things that needed some extra attention, but nothing that should keep you from choosing this property!

Wonderful family getaway

We had an amazing stay, the property was clean and so cozy! The weather kept us from being able to enjoy the firepit, but the teens enjoyed the hot tub. The first night it seemed to work fine, (the lights didn't work) after that there was a mildew smell and the jets didn't work as well, it definitely will need some maintenance soon. Our 5 year old loved the playhouse! As others stated toys were dirty but we pulled them out and sprayed them down with the hose and then she got to enjoy them. There were tons of movies and games in the cabin, the DVD player in the queen bedroom didn't work but that wasn't too big an issue. We played endless games of clue, chess, and aggravation. We ventured out to Lake Winnie one day and Desoto falls another. You definitely need to check out The Hatter Cafe while in town. We ordered from Mentone Market one night as well, it was so-so, but not too many options around that were open that evening. Overall, we had a fantastic stay and will definitely be back! :)

Nice for family time and day trips

It is a cabin, but it shows signs of wear which degrades its value, for example, Lawn furniture with broken seats. There are multiple DVDs, a nice library of them, but none of the players worked, nor were there instructions for their use. The hot tub worked great, but the jets did not seem limited, and the lights did not work. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans and utensils and all of the appliances worked as I expected. However, the playhouse out back needs to be clean and the toys functional.

Cabin by woods

It was a nice setting. We did enjoy our time in Alabama. The outdoor furniture, kids playhouse and hammack need cleaning. The pond is shared and not accessible with the cattails growing up around the dock. The jacuzzi was not heating. Someone was sent out to check it and a part had to be replaced. It was still a nice place just needed some upkeep outside.

Spring Break Getaway

We had a great Spring Break getaway to Cedar Cove cabin! We love visiting Mentone and this property was great for our family of four! We loved the hot tub and enjoyed fishing down at the pond. Our kids (9 and 7) loved the upstairs bunk beds and the many toys and games available! The cabin had everything we needed and was nice and clean. We had a great time and plan on visiting again in the future!

Long weekend in Mentone

We enjoyed our stay overall. The house was very well stocked and comfortable. The fishing poles provided were a bust. Only one of them was usable and it was not in good condition. If you plan to fish, bring your own poles. The hot tub cover was falling apart. The manager said they have one ordered, but you need more than one person to take the cover off as it is very difficult to move in its current condition. The house decor is fun with plenty of interesting pieces to look at. I was surprised though that the house was still decorated for Christmas at the end of February. We loved Desoto Falls and Little River Canyon. Both were nearby. The Wildflower Cafe is a must. Unfortunately many of the shops downtown were closed. I don't know if this was due to Covid or if they are seasonal.

Awesome Family Getaway!!!!

We had 4 adults and 2 children, ages 9 and 6. ALL of us throughly enjoyed our stay at Cedar Cove!! The cabin was even better than the pics which normally it’s the other way around. No other cabins visible from our cabin, very private! We all enjoyed sitting round the fire at night. The kids loved the playhouse, taking hikes, etc etc. Beautiful front and back porches! We even had a neighbors dog, Rufus, visit us several times a day. It almost seemed we had a family dog on our trip lol! The grandkids loved Rufus! Our oldest even left a note on the fridge for the next renters about how sweet Rufus is and what he likes. . My son in law met his owners who live down the road and we talked to several other neighbors on our walks. All were so friendly. The cabin is beautiful inside and out. Our group appreciates a rustic at home atmosphere! I could say more but I am just so happy we had a chance to get away as a family, slow down and relax! Would love to come back to Cesar Cove!
