Designer Vintage House in Medieval Saint Cyprien, valley of the Dordogne.
About this space
This authentically restored Designer Vintage House has two double bedroom suites and a spacious living area. With beautiful views of the Dordogne valley, a lovely peaceful local ambiance and only a minutes walk from the lively village centre with all commerces. Located in the heart of the historic section of St Cyprien with its winding lanes and alleys and magnificent houses, it's an ideal base for exploring this magnificent region as well as enjoying the Dordogne river which is only 2 km away.
The space
The 'Designer Vintage House' is spacious and bright with fluid interconnected spaces giving a relaxed feeling of easy living.
Bedroom 2 has 'wattle and daub' ceilings and walls. The top floor is open plan with the bedroom and adjoining reading room partially separated by the bathroom and the laundry room on each side of the passageway.
Striking features of 'Designer Vintage House' include:
- An impressive and beautifully carved medieval fireplace, once forming the focal point of the monks kitchen as part of St Cyprien Abbey.
- A Roman arch
- A large carved stone window
- Original and gently worn floor boards on first and second floors, including a section of the original hand-made boards.
- A circular stone tower staircase rising from the lobby up to bedroom 2 on the top floor.
- An original stone floor on the ground floor made up of impressively large stone slabs arranged in the form of a cross and with sections of pisé flooring (long narrow stones laid vertically).
- Art Deco glass ceiling shades and other vintage paintings, furniture and objects.
Right next to the 'Designer Vintage House' and with easy access is a beautiful public square. Pretty with large containers of colorful flowers, benches for relaxing in the sun and a large plane tree which provides shade in the hot summer months.

Other things to note
'Designer Vintage House' was designed primarily as a relaxing base for exploring the surrounding area while being immersed in the sounds and the medieval atmosphere of St Cyprien. Somewhere, not only to relax, to connect and to resource, but also to be inspired by the immediate areas incredible natural and architectural beauty and wide range of interesting things to see and do. The 'Designer Vintage House' is situated in Medieval St Cyprien which is in the heart of the the golden triangle of the Dordogne in the valley of the five Chateaux (Beynac, Castelnaud, Les Milandes, Marquesac & Fayrac) and between Sarlat (Historic market town), Domme (Medieval Bastide town), Roque Gageac (ancient cliffside village beside the Dordogne), Les Eyzies (Prehistoric centre), Cadouin (Abbey), Le Bugue (Village de Bournat/ Aquarium), Belves (medieval hill top village) & Monpazier (Bastide town virtually unchanged since 1284). It is surrounded by an impressive array of amazing Chateaux, museums & caves, stunningly beautiful villages, lakes, the Dordogne river and with numerous activities nearby such as walking trails, horse riding, ballooning, canoeing & cycling to name but a few.
The local area is known in France by its ancient name, 'Le Perigord Noir', and is home to some well-known delicacies such as black truffles and foie gras. It also has excellent cuisine with locally produced fresh products and the famous wine regions of neighbouring Bergerac, Pecharmont and Montbazillac. Also well located to sample some of the best wines in the world with Bordeaux, Saint Emilion and the Medoc all within a two hour drive.
Perfect for people who like to eat out frequently and who will enjoy the excellent range of local delicacies on offer in the village.
Its proximity to local producers shops, bakeries, cafes, banks, newsagents, supermarkets, train station, restaurants, etc., and the immediately surrounding countryside and nature, also make it a home for the simple and easy life. The beautiful walk from the house to the village center through Place des Oies, undoubtedly one of the most beautiful streets of the village with its elegant historic houses, built in several different styles and techniques. Both locals and second homers in the medieval district of St Cyprien are discreet, relaxed and friendly and almost always have time for a chat or a friendly word. There is very little through traffic and despite its proximity to the centre, the medieval part of St Cyprien, in the heart of which this house is situated, is very atmospheric and yet remarkably peaceful.
