THE CALLING LOON on Crystal Lake in Harrison, Maine.
Come stay for a friend weekend, a leaf peeping trip, or skiing in nearby Bridgton. A great location to stay for a wedding.
Stay near the Deertrees Theater, a 5 minute drive.
Interesting local hiking.

The dock and swim float are coming out for the winter during the last week of October(2024).

WINTER-House is open all winter long, the driveway is plowed and sanded. *4-wheel drive or all wheel drive* is required to navigate the hill to our beautiful, private location.

Fishing: Crystal Lake is stocked annually with LL salmon and Brook trout. Check the Maine fish stocking report for other local lakes. Interesting local hiking.
**Linens are provided and included in the cost. Bath, hand, face cloths, bathmat, kitchen hand and dish towels, sheets, pillow cases, comforters, blankets, throws.**

Large 3 floor, lakefront house, with a private dock and 8x8 float on beautiful Crystal Lake. The house is located in a quiet cove, with use of dock and swim float, 4 kayaks and a peddle boat. Spacious and sunny living/dining room, walk out to upper deck. Lower screened porch with unobstructed views of the lake. All bedrooms have large closets and small-medium sized dressers-plenty of storage. Gas grill and life vests (3 youth, 5 adult). In summer, paddle over to the town beach for additional amenities, short walk to local ice cream shop.

June-August(5 night min. preferred).
Fishing: Lake stocked annually.
North Conway/Story Land (Glen, NH) ~ 1 hour away

In Spring: Dock will be in early May.

In Summer: Local hiking at Ponicherry Park and Plesant Mountain.
Less than 1 hour to Story Land and the North Conway area.

In Fall: Fryeberg Fair - 30 minutes, leaf peeping

Great location on the Lake

Our hosts were very thoughtful and provided all of the games and toys that small children need as well as the amenities to keep the adults happy.

Comfortable lake house

A spacious home with all the amenities we needed. Extended family of 8 had plenty of room throughout the home and a large farmhouse table for meals together. Reliable WiFi satisfied everyone. Our only regret is that out stay was too short.

Beautiful Tranquil Lakehouse Retreat

This was a 10/10. The house was beautiful and well stocked, and the part of the lake it is on is quiet so your kids can swim without worry of boat traffic. We enjoyed swimming, kayaking, and boating from Harrison Marina. There is a nice cinder running trail - road nearby and in short, it was an idyllic vacation spot.

Family weekend

The location was great and the house had plenty of space. Also, the kayaks and peddle boat were great amenities. Some of the beds were less comfortable than ideal, and the house was somewhat dark at night, but overall it was a great stay!

Second time around even better

This was our second stay at the Kneeland's house, this time adding my son and his family. The 7 of us had plenty on room, but the house still felt cosy. We used the kayaks that came with the house plus some paddle boards and a double kayak we rented to set out as a flotilla on the lake with all of us, ages 12 to 78. It was great!

Excellent camp for family on Crystal Lake

It was our second time staying here and would highly recommend and return. The house is very well stocked with both the essentials and fun extras for getting the most out of the great location on Crystal Lake. We particularly loved using the 4 kayaks. The house is very spacious and comfortably housed 8 of us, with room to spare. The basement space was also a great bonus for me as it gave me a quiet place to work remotely while the rest of the family enjoyed themselves upstairs. 5 stars.

Wonderful family lake holiday

I would strongly recommend this home for a family lake vacation. We were seven adults ranging up to 78 years old plus a toddler. We stayed for 5 nights and wish we had stayed longer. The house is as described - generously large, bedrooms well arranged for privacy, and with lots of social space inside downstairs, on the downstairs screened porch and on the outside deck. I appreciated that all the basics were provided, from dish soap to towels and a very helpful washer-dryer. Kayaks were good, lifejackets top quality. The biggest plus for us was the lake: We all absolutely loved the swimming. The lake water quality was lovely and the lake itself was relatively quiet even in July. The nearby beach was perfect for our 2-year old granddaughter.

Perfect lake vacation

The house was great and we had a lovely time relaxing there. Very family friendly and well provisioned, including an accurate description of the bedrooms, which was very helpful. The owners were great as well and very helpful and responsive. The property and location is fantastic and we very much enjoyed the lake and hanging out at the house. Would highly recommend to anyone else!

Beautiful spot with gorgeous scenery

Fantastic property on a beautiful lake! We had a great time swimming and admiring the water, and the quick and private access to the lake made it so easy to get in whenever we wanted. We happened to get a weekend of rain, but the house was spacious, well-appointed (especially the kitchen!) and had lots of private and shared areas to enjoy time indoors. Had a fantastic time and would definitely recommend to others.

It was a pleasant stay

It was a very pleasant stay as the host was very nice and adjusted to our requests, the lake house was very beautiful and we enjoyed staying here for 2 nights. The only detail I would mention is the house could have been a lot more cleaner especially the upstairs bedrooms as it looked like it wasn’t cleaned after the previous guests had left.

Fall getaway

Perfect location for our family fall getaway. The lake is gorgeous. Close to Fryeburg for those wanting to visit the annual fair. The house was spacious for our family of 6. I only wish the weather was a little better so we could’ve kayak the lake more. We had an excellent stay.

Quiet, comfortable, accommodating

We were happy to be returning to this property because it's conveniently located, comfortable, and we love being on the lake. Everything was as we remembered, except the cleaning crew was not quite up to snuff. We addressed this with the homeowner and they said they will address it with the cleaner. Lovely spot for a fall weekend!

Beautiful peaceful Lakehouse

We simply had a wonderful time on Crytal Lake. The house is spacious, and clean, with calming atmosphere, and plenty of space downstairs for kids to play. we enjoyed kayaking, fishing, and the beautiful sunrise each morning that was coloring the lake with silver shades. Thank you!

Great Spot, Great Vacation

All was as expected, Home is spacious and very comfortable. This lake was gorgeous . Only issue was that the lake has been over-fished and we got no nibbles. Fisherman residents agree with that. Internet was in and out at times, but may have been due to weather. Also remember to bring your own bath rugs. Thank You

Very Accommodating and Comfortable

The house was comfortable and easy. The "supply your own linens" message 3 weeks before the trip was a big surprise and we were grateful one of us was driving AND had enough linens to supply the whole group! We had family across the lake and enjoyed paddling back and forth. Thank you.

Great Lakeside Rental

The house was ideal for our friend-reunion. Plenty of room, and a great location. A few neighbors through the trees, but rarely saw or heard them. Swimming, fishing, boating, and kayaking were right down the steps to the lake. (FYI If you have mobility issues, this rental may be not suit your needs as far as water access goes.) Many late afternoons spent on the deck overlooking the lake and listening to the loons. Kitchen had everything we needed. Grocery store was a short drive away. Hosts left clear rental instructions and were very responsive. A few of the mattresses and pillows could use an upgrade, but other than that, it was pretty perfect!

Great time at the lake

The hosts communicated with us throughout our booking process and our stay. Very pretty spot by the lake and there was plenty of room for our party of 8! Bathrooms and beds all were good. Huge open concept kitchen/dining/living made it good for family time at night. Huge hill to get up(both ways) but it's walkable to Harrison's ice cream and village tie up. Thanks for a lovely stay!

Great cottage

My daughter, my friend and I had a delightful week at Crystal Lake. We kayaked, swam, had ice cream at The Creamery and went to the Bridgton Drive-in. The lake is beautiful, with little traffic and really is crystal clear. The grill and the well-equipped kitchen made for easy cooking and the beds were comfortable. It's a great cottage.

Wonderful place for a family gathering

Our family of 6 adults and 2 small children stayed here for 6 nights and had a wonderful time. The vibe was just what we were looking for - relaxed lake living. The place was spacious, giving us room to work during the day and gather in the evening without worrying about keeping the children awake. The kitchen was very well stocked. The washer and dryer were great. (Just remember to bring sheets, towels, kitchen towels/sponges, shampoo, and laundry detergent.) The lake is just incredibly beautiful, and access was easy. We went to the town beach several times and rented the gazebo for a larger gathering. We will definitely try to stay here again for a family vacation.

Our house is surounded by woods, on the lake, with separation from other homes making it feel like a private getaway location. The house is near grocery stores, a gas station, multiple restaurants, two local pizza shops and a local boutique bar. In the summer the ice cream shop is open in the center of Harrison.
