Traveling has always been special to me because of the unique stories shared between travelers and hosts. My journey with Airbnb began in 2013, traveling with my daughter Helen to places like Hawaii, Puerto Vallarta, New York, Boston, and Cabo San Lucas. Helen often booked our stays through Airbnb or VRBO, and each one added something memorable to our trips.
In 2015, I created my own account, and by June 2016, I stayed as Dr. Michael’s first guest on Airbnb in Phoenix. During a walk, he asked me, “Why don’t you host?” That simple question sparked an idea, and eight years later, I’m so glad I gave hosting a try.
Hosting has allowed me to meet over 450 guests from across the U.S. and countries like Germany, Japan, Mexico, and Sweden and many more. The income has also helped me renovate my home to create a warm, inviting space for guests.
After retiring from biotech research and becoming an empty nester, I pursued a second career as a licensed real estate professional and part-time property manager. Through it all, I live by the principle: “Treat others the way you want to be treated.”
