Stay was too short

Perfect for quiet families and groups

Lovely property with a great view. Village at bottom of hill has everything you need from basic groceries to several wonderful restaurants. Would stay here again easily.

Terrific Holiday Vacation Home

La Jolie has been my chosen holiday home for the past couple years and I recommend it to anyone for its spectacular view and relaxing atmosphere. From the moment we arrive, the kids are in the inviting pool. The rooms are clean, spacious and comfortable and the kitchen is fully equipped and maintained so the cooking as part of the lime makes it enjoyable. The housekeeper, Ms. Ulin welcomes us with her friendly smile and a hug and is always helpful. The villa is situated in the ideal location where you have easy access to nice restaurants, the mini mart, linx machine, veggie stall, fish market and beaches. Did I mention the refreshing air and awesome view you wake up to enjoy with a cup of coffee and the sound of the surf. Or, the incredible sunset!

Great house

It’s a fantastic house with a well equipped kitchen and a super fun pool. It was a particularly hot rainy season but the fans kept it relatively comfortable in the living area and you could always go into one of the rooms with AC if needed. The kids loved the pool and nearby Grafton Beach which had huge waves and was sparsely populated. There is a store nearby which is well stocked for needs as they arise. We also had some nice lunches at the grill at the bottom of the hill. Communication was awesome and all our questions were promptly answered. 100% 5 star for VRBO but some quibbles: no basic kitchen ingredients like salt and pepper , foil, spices, sugar, oil. Also, not in their control but if you don’t have a car and have to walk to the beach there are some assertive pan handlers and apparently mentally ill folks who will follow you for some time although not in a threatening manner. We have little kids and we never felt unsafe.

Very spacious and great location.

We enjoyed our stay at La Jolie. The villa is spacious and light as there’s plenty of windows. We think it’s possibly ready for some modernisation as is a little old fashioned. The bar down the hill plays loud music Friday and Saturday nights till the early hours but we decided to go there for drinks so didn’t really notice it too much. We were contacted several times over our stay to check all was ok which was nice. Would have been nice to have had a small welcome pack as we arrived early evening and had to go and find a shop as there was no tea , coffee or milk just to have a cuppa with. Pool seating area is not quite big enough for the amount of people that the villa sleeps and there were only 2 sun beds. There are several good restaurants within walking distance but the villa is up a really steep hill so would be hard work for the less able. The closest beach is Stone haven which is beautiful and has several good restaurants next to the beach with lovely sea views. Tobago is beautiful, unspoilt and not too touristy - yet.

Nice house and location but extreme night time noise by local bar

The house is a nice house - great central location (close to nice beaches, activities and restaurants). The view is amazing from the pool area. The pool is fun. Couch is very comfortable. And the house itself is fine - some wear and tear (could use some upkeep in certain areas), but generally fine. The owner was very nice, even left a bottle of wine in the fridge for us. It would have been a great stay, but for the fact that there is a bar down the hill (right below the house) called Moon Over Water. This bar is an open air bar that is open almost every night in the week. The music is so loud that the walls of the master bedroom were shaking at night. It was literally like being right in the middle of the bar. I believe the sound carries from the bottom of the hill to the top, where the house is. I could not sleep for nights in a row, before I finally gave up trying to use multiple sound machines and earplugs and moved to one of the other bedrooms. The other bedrooms are on the other side of the house, so you can't really hear the music as well. A sound machine works just fine to block out low level sound in the bedroom right above the pool with the balcony, and you may not need a sound machine at all in the other 2 bedrooms. And that doesn't also include some locals who clearly like to party as they would use subwoofer stereo systems inside and outside their houses and businesses in the neighborhood. I heard music blasting so loud, again the walls in the master bedroom shook from the bass. I had to call the local police who were nice enough to help shut some of this down at 2 or 3am - unbelievably, on Christmas Eve as well as other days of the week. It wasn't just the week-ends, maybe because folks were off during the holiday season. And the fun didn't stop at night. Some mornings, the music would end around 3 or 4am from the bar, only to start up again at 5:30 or 6am from a local house at the bottom of the hill. Not sure who wants to party with loud music that early, but there you have it. I was very surprised that I did not see reviews for the house that included this issue, because it defined our vacation. I ended up getting sick from lack of sleep before I moved bedrooms. So if you are looking for a fun bar that you can walk down to and party, this is a great place as the house has great views and is a nice play to stay.

Pure paradise and relaxation

This property and the host has gone above and beyond any expectations that we had. I read the previous reviews about the loud music, construction and other minimal issues people want to complain about. Let me just say this our experience was far from that. Was there music yes, it is a Caribbean island what’s an island without good vibes??? Was the music so loud we could not sleep, HARD NO!!!! we barely heard it at all. Construction is there because they are building homes around this location, but they were not working when we were at the house so again no bother there. I just want to break it down like this, the pool is amazing, the views are spectacular, the beaches close to the house and dither are so refreshing that you don’t want to leave. Our host checked in on us, was flexible with check in and out and even called us after to make sure we were all good after traveling. So if you want a great home, in a great area with a great host this is the spot to be, we will definitely be back… thank you again!!

Beautiful and clean property

We enjoyed our stay at La Jolie. The location is convenient and felt very safe. The beds were comfortable and nice linens. We ran into some issues with having running water, but The host was quick to respond and attempted twice to have it fixed, but it was likely a larger issue than just running out of water. I will hope the host will refund us a night’s stay for the inconvenience. Regardless of the water, we would definitely stay here again.

Fantastic Get Away

This is a well put together holiday home. All our needs were catered for and the convenience of nearby stores meant that any items we needed were easily accessed. The heated pool is just perfect ( maybe you can encourage the neighbour on the hill to cut down that tall tree which partially hides the ocean view) Highly recommend !

Wonderful ocean-view villa in a peaceful neighbourhood

Located just 15 minutes from Crown Point, the property is set on a small hill with an amazing view of Stonehaven beach and the rest of the ocean. The beach was just a 2 minute drive away. The house was well equipped with all the cooking and cleaning items needed for a comfortable stay. Two of the four bedrooms also had a lovely ocean view. Just down the hill (a 5 minute walk) is a convenience store which offers a really good selection of items if you need something quickly. There is also a local bar which is pretty pumping on the weekend. The only real complaint was how warm the common area could get during the day. However it did not dampen our mood as we spent most of the time in the pool. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone looking to stay within the Black Rock area.

Quite a lovely villa, extremely well-equipped kitchen and bedrooms/bathrooms. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay especially the beautiful views and hot tub/pool. Furniture in the living and dining room could be updated for a more comfortable and modern ambiance. These common spaces could also be airconditioned for more comfort.

Great House in Great Location

First the one negative, which has been reported in at least one other review: the hot tub didn't work. Well, it did for one day, after a few requests to get it fixed. First fix got the jets working but not the heat. Second one got the heat working. After that day, it was only the jets that worked. With that out of the way, let me say that this is a really nice house that is outfitted exceptionally well -- maybe the most complete kitchen setup of any of the dozens of houses I've rented in the last several years -- and taken care of by a hugely friendly and helpful woman named Ulin (as well as several other people who did various kinds of maintenance, always very unobtrusively). The location is pretty fantastic. It's not *on* the beach, though I didn't have much luck finding houses in Tobago that are. But it's two blocks from a handful of restaurants and two more blocks from one beach and two more blocks from another beach -- and they're both *great* beaches. And it's maybe fifteen minutes from the airport/Pigeon Point and maybe 20 from Scarborough. We ended up meeting a family that lives just down the street from this house (and their ten-year-old daughter had a sleepover at our place!) as well as a ton of other super nice people. The house was a great home base for us. My only regret is that the local food was so good that we didn't end up cooking all of the food we bought at the grocery store (ten minutes away) on our first night!!!

Tranquil, scenic, luxurious and pampered

I knew going in that I would enjoy my stay just from the helpful communications with Kathy, however it was far exceeded by all the cogs in the wheel that earned La Jolie the 5 stars. Helen catered to assisting with everything including car rentals, before we even arrived. Ulin was cheery and took such good care of us. There was a minor issue with the AC after the first night and within an hour of mention, was fixed by two very helpful - and fast - gentlemen. This occasion was very special to me, bringing a close knit group of friends to my island home for a milestone birthday and graduation. La Jolie was the perfect setting for it, and they've all enjoyed their stay, with a strong desire to come back. I couldn't be happier with the way things went, I'm honestly impressed and my family have found a new place to call home when visiting Tobago. TRAVEL CAVEATS & GOOD-TO-KNOWS: - if you aren't planning to rent a car, taxis are ok but there's enough in the area to stay there for. If you desire you see rest of Tobago, car recommend - it's an easy drive to and from Crowne Point. - there's a bit of a hill to climb or 124 stairs down to main road / beach, so if you have bad knees, go slowly, or have someone else do your bidding in the house as I did hehehe - ample grocery locations in the little village below, within a 5 minute drive another well stocked grocery, and a Penny Savers on Milford Rd about 10-12 minutes from house. - there are tiny biting creatures in the morning vs evening, so grab a tube of our local Odomos, arm yourself with the Villa Zapper and you're totally fine. Or - stay in the pool, I mean why come out anyways!! Overall, as with anywhere, you get what you put into it. Generally in Tobago, you're treated well but treat the home and people with respect in return and you will get it back in spades and then some as we did with La Jolie. Thank you for the perfect start to a new chapter in my life - hopefully it's as good as this stay was. Sarita

Beautiful experience!!!

Thank you for a wonderful stay at La Jolie! It was very comfortable for my family, especially having a baby the environment was very clean which was really important to me. I would definetly recommend anyone to experience the spectacular ocean view, waking up to the relaxing sounds of the ocean waves. The kids enjoyed the salt water pool that was very safe. Such a great place well designed that captures all aspects of Tobago's natural beauty. Looking forward for another stay soon!

Beautiful villa, great views, amazing hospitality

My family and I stayed at La Jolie for a weekend and I must say we are all very sad we didn't book the villa for a longer stay. La Jolie has everything that is listed in the description and is a beautiful villa, it makes you feel right at home. The kitchen was FULLY equipped with everything imaginable making it so easy to have home cooked meals which was extremely convenient. The housekeeper was more than hospitable and helped us very much. We were so sad to leave. Waking up every morning to the sea views was paradise. We had so much fun in the pool in the day time and relaxing in the Jacuzzi in the night. But what made everything 100x better was the absolute privacy you have at this villa. Everything is very private yet all your necessities such as groceries, market, fast food is literally a 10 min walk away. Thank you so much for having us it was our first time in Tobago but one of our best vacations yet. We would definitely love to visit La Jolie again soon.

Let Go and Be.

Our family stayed at La Jolie in June. This place has great energy. Elegant yet comfortable, it reminded me of my family’s home in Trinidad. The layout is well thought out. The main living area is spacious and opens out onto a large patio, an infinity pool and jacuzzi. My best memory is sitting by the pool with a drink and watching the sunset and birds especially the hummingbirds taking their last sip of nectar before night fell. There are three large bedrooms with en-suite baths and on the ground floor there is a handicapped accessible bedroom with bathroom close by. Ms. Ulin takes very good care of this place and its guests. Lots of white linens and towels are provided. The living area is enclosed by decorative wrought iron / glass french doors which, while providing security, do not impede the spectacular view of sea and sky. There is excellent cross ventilation when the doors and windows are open even in June. If you are a birdwatcher this place is for you. I observed finches, warblers, hummingbirds just hanging out at the pool. A bananaquit makes its home in an overhang and flies in and out of its nest at leisure. We found this villa affordable. We cooked all our meals (and we had very active hungry children with us) in the well equipped kitchen. I am an amateur cook/baker and I greatly enjoyed using the six burner gas stove and the serious oven. The kitchen is very well equipped . An outdoor grill is provided. The fish market in Mt Irving is close by so we enjoyed great fresh fish dinners that would have cost a fortune if we were eating out. I am artist, my husband a writer. We found much to inspire us here. The house is big enough to accommodate those who wanted a quiet spot to just be. But then that’s my advice. This is a great place to just let go and be. Would I recommend it? Yes 100%.
