Comfortable, relaxing vacation

We enjoyed our stay at the home on the lake. In late July we had a mix of warm weather including some windy days and a day of rain with thunderstorms. This was exciting to those visiting from Southern CA. The house was very comfortable, it housed 2 families of 4 well. One family slept upstairs, the other downstairs. We ate many meals on the outside deck that overlooks the lake. We enjoyed playing games, and listening to the rain in the covered porch. We watched the Olympics on the nice TV in the family room. We played outside on the grass, and took advantage of the indoor pool and playground at the adjoining campground. We loved hanging out on the dock, very relaxing and great way to end a long summer day. We did not swim in the lake as we were told at check in about swimmer's itch and didn't want to suffer a rash in case that were to happen during our vacation. We did see other people swimming in the water though. Seems like if you shower off after swimming you should be ok. It's a beautiful spot in the summer, you and your family will have a great time relaxing at this home.

Great 4th of July!

We had a great time, we weren't able to use our boat because it was to shallow in front of the cabin. The management was very accommodating and we were able to use the amenities of the resort.

Great retreat from the City!

We had 8 family members stay to celebrate our 50th wWeddong Anniversary.. It was perfect! The outdoor propert and screen porch were key! The kitchen was so well- appointed and well stocked. The grill was fantastic. We were too busy to use Sullivan's but great option. Larry and staff are great!

Beautiful clean well stocked lake home

We loved this lake home for our family get together. We had ages ranging from toddlers to adults. It suited all ages. The shallow lake had a sand bottom and the small children could walk right in and be safe. The kitchen was the most well stocked I have ever rented. Like seriously every pan, utensil, appliance you could need. The resort connection was great so we had use of the pool, volleyball court and playground. The place was clean and comfortable. We would definitely stay here again.

Great Property!

This was a great property for our families. There was a great yard, shallow swimming area, fishing on the lake was fun! The access to Sullivan resort for the playground and pool was a hit for the kids!

Great house

This house had everything we needed for a great holiday weekend! Check in was easy, and we liked having access to the amenities at Sullivans next door - they were really friendly. We rented kayaks and a paddleboard from them, and the rates were really reasonable. The kids used the pool there a few times. The house itself was spotless and well-appointed. We’ve stayed at lots of vacation rentals in the past, and this one definitely had the most well-stocked kitchen. The view from the house is beautiful - I loved the screened in porch for morning coffee and getting some work done (with good WiFi!). We all enjoyed the big yard, shallow area around the dock for our kids, and using the fire pit each night.

Great lake house

My family and I stayed here at the end of July 2022. The lake house is just as described. As an added bonus, you get to use the amenities of Sullivan's Resort, which is right next door. We rented a boat from Sullivan's and used their indoor pool on a rainy day. Their firewood is also reasonably priced, which was nice since we had a camp fire every night. Larry was very quick to respond and helpful. Had a great time, would stay here again.

Perfect lake house

This was the best property we’ve stayed at in Brainerd! It was so clean and we really enjoyed the new appliances in the kitchen! Although it rained most of our trip we did go in the lake a little and the water was clear and the bottom was soft and sandy for quite a ways out. Larry was great to communicate with and we plan to book this same house next year!

Perfect place for an awesome getaway!!

The house was very clean and had everything you could ever need. The beds were very comfortable all the way down to the sheets. Lol. Plenty of room for a group of people. The screened in porch was great for morning coffee and chats while looking at the lake. The deck was nice for those bbq's outside. The property was amazing!!! Perfect for yard games! The fire pit was awesome! The water was very shallow for a quite aways out, so it wasn't great for fishing, but had the water not been down so low, it would have been a prime spot for floating and fishing. Darn MN drought. We had a wonderful time here!! Sullivan's resort was awesome! The owners were so kind and helpful. We rented a pontoon and a paddle board from them. They were so helpful! We will definitely be making this an annual spot.

Beautiful lake view

The house and location was perfect for our group getaway. The screened in porch was perfect to sit and sip morning coffee while looking over the lake. The fire ring was set up perfect for a fire to wrap up the day. The water is shallow for a long ways out which made the temp warm and ideal for “floating”. The water is also very clean!!! Larry was very helpful through out the stay. I highly recommend this property.

AMAZING STAY!!

Our family had a wonderful stay at this property. The home was very clean, and comfortable, and there was plenty of room for all of us. The basement alcove area worked out really well for our son and his three children. The other three couples each had their own bedroom with comfortable queen beds. We especially loved the screened in porch and deck overlooking the lake with amazing views. And the kids loved all the yard space to run and play in. We used the firepit each night to just relax and have s'mores, and it was also nice to have the indoor pool which we used on the hot afternoons when we wanted a break from the heat. All in all, this was a great place to stay and we made some awesome family memories.

Hi My name is Larry Middleton and I'm the property manager at the Happy Haven Retreat. This property is located right next to Sullivans Resort and Campground. While staying at the Happy Haven Retreat you can enjoy all of the amenities that Sullivans Resort has to offer including Kayak rentals, paddle board rental, Sugar sand beach with slide and playground for the kids, pontoon and fishing boat rentals. We also have an indoor salt water pool and sauna. We offer all of the above and we are just 10 minutes from Baxter or Nisswa.
