Great house

We stayed at Barrier Dunes six times now and love the area. Beautiful beaches, great pools and tennis courts. This is the first time we stayed at Caretta Cottage and we really liked it - lots of room and laid out well. We did have concerns about the cleanliness - the window sills were dusty and full of dead bugs, there were some dead bugs on the floor. The bathroom (not master) had glass shelving that was very dusty and the shower glass door lower hinge area was black with dirt/mold. Kitchen cabinets had dried, sticky drippings on the front of them. Overall the cottage needs a major decluttering - lots of "stuff" jammed into storage areas. The beach chairs, etc. were just in a pile under the back porch and mostly unusable. We would definitely rent it again, but would like to see some cleaning, decluttering and maintenance done on the property.

Great Villa!

This was our fifth vacation to Cape San Blas, and our third in Barrier Dunes. The location is wonderful. The house had everything we needed for a wonderful vacation.

A hidden gem place

We booked last minute and were so very lucky to find accommodations above and beyond any expectations. The place was fully stocked, clean, and in an unbeatable location. Would definitely stay again.

Wonderful beach getaway

We come to the Cape every year and this would have to be the best trip here yet. The house was great. The kitchen was well equipped, had high quality dishware, etc. The master bedroom suite was very comfortable. It was nicely decorated throughout the home. We loved that the house has a little side yard for dog potty breaks. We enjoyed all the wildlife, from turtles in the pond in the backyard to the tiny frogs you can spot around the porch, to the crane sauntering down the middle of the street early one morning! And there was no shortage in the water either, having seen dolphins at close range and even a manatee when on the paddle board. We appreciated having a laundry room directly off the kitchen and the kids enjoyed having their own space upstairs. The walk to the beach truly is only 5 minutes (I timed it!) though it seems like it would be longer. And a true bonus in my eyes is the boardwalk down to the beach is a ramp and not stairs! This was very convenient for hauling our cart of stuff. Overall everybody in our family loved this vacation and the house was a big part of that. We would 10 out of 10 rent this house again.

Great Location

Overall, a great spot to vacation for our family. The cottage was supplied with every kitchen utensil that one might need during your trip. The only negative were the couches; they need to be cleaned.

Wonderful place to stay, great kitchen!

What’s not to love about this house! The decor, comfy beds, amazing laundry facilities and of course, the kitchen! We always cook when we’re on vacation, and your home made it easy to do so. Thank you for supplying such a great assortment of high quality pots, pans and utensils. It’s the best we’ve ever seen. Your house really felt like a home. We truly enjoyed our stay and we’d love to stay again in the future.

This was our second time staying at the Barrier Dunes. We selected this home because we have a very elderly dog with arthritis and the stairs in the condos would have been too much for him to navigate. Lovely Home

We had a restful week at the cottage. It was well kept and very clean on arrival. About a 5 minute walk to the beach (with kids) and half that to the heated pool. Playground within 100 steps of the front porch. Neighborhood is perfect for families with small kids and was quiet. Would certainly book this home again.

Our stay was very good. We had our lab, Abbey and she loves the community for walks. The house is well decorated, clean and delightful. We hope to go back next year. I have rented with VRBO and it was very convenient and friendly.

Beautifully decorated, large home in a community near the beach

After searching high and low in Cape San Blas, I assumed all of the houses would be in a subdivision, meaning, you'd have no view of the beach, and would have a hefty walk to it. Not true, although it *is* for this property. It's a very nice community, and your view is completely obstructed by 3-story condo buildings. So, the walk to the beach is probably 300 yards through a parking lot of condo buildings. The house is gorgeous, well-kept and has more than you need, including lots of condiments and cookware. We do a yearly family get-together and planned to play games, but couldn't resist strolling the beach and looking for things to do. There's not much, but I will highly recommend Long Bill's, which is like a half mile down the road, but I saw no discernible sign in front of it. I loved the Pizza, and I rarely say that. The beach is clean and well-kept, and in October, anyway, not crowded. The water would normally be swimmable, but we had a red tide, and then stormy waters. The Piggly Wiggly is a good 20 miles back on the mainland, so get your supplies on your way in. There's plenty of room in the house, fridge and cabinets, and there are two regular drip coffee makers. The bed in the crow's nest is really two small beds and my adult son couldn't get comfortable in it. The rest of us found the other beds comfortable and quiet. We met the neighbor, and enjoyed watching kids fish in the little pond behind the house.

Puppy's first trip to beach.

Caretta Cottage was exactly what is listed! The cottage is beautiful! It had everything we needed and so much more! We met several nice, friendly people with their fur babies at Barrier Dunes. We loved the beach, caught several fish surf fishing, and our fur baby loved playing at the beach every day. The food was excellent in the nearby restaurants!! If you want the best ice cream treat go to Shoobies in Port St. Joe! Overall, our vacation was FANTASTIC!! We are looking forward to going back!!

Nice Rental with Lots of Amenities.

This is a very nice vacation rental home and it met our needs perfectly. The house is quiet and less than a 5 minute walk to the beach. The owners have provided lots of amenities with very new appliances. Everything was easy to access and use. The gated community is family friendly, dog friendly and in a great location. Cape San Blas has great beaches.

Peaceful setting, close to state park!

What a great little cottage in a nice community! We really enjoyed our time here, had everything we needed for our stay. Location was great for us because we brought our bikes and we were right outside the state park and the beginning of the 8.7 mile bike trail! The pools were nice although we spent our time at the beach. Loved being at the north end of the cape because it was peaceful, beautiful beaches all around you!

Caretta Cottage

The house was very nice and clean. We only had one issue and that was with the cable. We never could get it to work. There are 5 TVs in the house and we could only watch 1 channel on 1 TV. The others didn't work. The property manager was very responsive and someone even came out and reset the cable box, but unfortunately the cable never came on. This was a bit of an issue because my elderly parents were with us and they enjoy watching TV in the evenings. While the beach is in walking distance, we were disappointed that there was no beach access for golf carts from the property. We were told that you could rent a cart (and you can), but when we got there we found out that to gain beach access you had to travel on the main road (which was illegal). We decided to not rent a cart because of this. Again it was a bit of an issue because of my elderly parents. Overall the property was nice, in a gated community.
