Historisches Volkmann-Haus am Kankakee River gegenüber von Frank Lloyd Wrights erstem Prairie Style-Haus, dem B. Harley Bradley House. Diese Eigenschaft wurde von Col entwickelt. Haswell C. Clarke vor 1900 als Stall, wurde aber zu einem Wohnhaus umgebaut und 1919 von Juwelier William H. umfassend umgebaut. Volkmann von Kankakee. Dieses Haus bewahrt seinen historischen Charme und ist dennoch mit modernen Annehmlichkeiten, komfortablen Möbeln, Badetüchern aus 100% Supima-Baumwolle, flauschigen Badetüchern aus 100% Baumwolle, Waschmaschine / Trockner, Geschirrspüler, WLAN und Kabel-TV ausgestattet. Mit Zugang zum Kankakee River, Bootszugang zum nahe gelegenen öffentlichen Bootsanleger und zentraler Lage auf einer Straße mit drei Grundstücken und Sackgassen bietet diese Unterkunft ausgezeichnete Privatsphäre und einen herrlichen Blick auf den Fluss. Dieses Haus verfügt über drei Schlafzimmer, zwei und 1/2 Bäder mit Hauptschlafzimmer en-suite und Holzkamin im Familienzimmer und bietet Platz für 6 Personen. Alle drei Schlafzimmer haben Queen-Size-Betten. Genießen Sie das Grillen auf dem Deck und beobachten Sie den Sonnenuntergang über dem Fluss. A Magical Time in Kankakee

From the first communication with Shari, I knew this would be a good visit. What I didn't realize was how magical the experience would be. Shari welcomed us to the house and gave us a bit of history. It was the perfect setting for celebrating the Christmas holidays with family: my son and daughter-in-law, their newborn son, my elderly in-laws, and my DIL's parents. Many happy memories were made in this historical house on the river. It was a visit we will never forget!

Simply Magical

The hosts are spectacular as well as the house. Beds comfortable, so much kitchen ware, climate controlled perfect, close to my family and across the street from the house that inspired my career. We will be back as much as possible! Such a wonderful three days! Thank you so much!!

True Gem

The pictures do not lie! This home has amazing historic charm and the river view was fabulous. We have stayed in quite a few short term rentals and this was by far the cleanest property we have experienced: no dust, dirt, or grime to be found anywhere. Shari, property owner, was so easy to communicate with and greeted us on arrival to give us instructions and answer questions. She has thought of every detail down to conveniently placed extension cords, makeup wipes, and a notebook full of history and recommended restaurants. We plan to make this a return visit!

Historic River House

We enjoyed our stay at this beautiful historic property along the Kankakee River. The kitchen is well stocked to cook and the backyard patio is perfect for grilling out. We have wonderful memories staying here during our trip! The kids loved playing in the backyard and we even saw some lightning bugs on our last night there. Thank you for sharing this beautiful house as a rental, we really enjoyed staying there.

Lovely getaway

Cool house in a small town

We were visiting family in Kankakee in the summer and this house was perfect for our family of 6. We also hosted some extra family one evening and the backyard and back porch worked out great. The kids also loved walking to Jaenicke's for floats!

Home by the River

A lovely home on a lovely river. A struggling town. A train horn.

The home is lovely and in a historic district on a lovely river. We had a great time canoeing on the river. Kankakee is struggling. town. The historic district is narrow, a couple blocks. Then the town is struggling. Trains come through early in the morning and blow their horns. It is a My Cousin Vinny moment but less of a pain. I loved sitting on the deck and feeling to cool breezes blowing off the river. We all did.

Beautiful property totally enjoyed staying here

Wow. This is a great place to stay. Very clean and well furnished. Felt very safe staying in this quite historic part of town. Beautiful grounds along the river. It was like staying in a museum. My son was graduating from college so our immediate family came to Kankakee to celebrate with him. The house was immaculate and one of the most beautiful settings I have ever experienced! Absolutely Amazing Property

This river front property was beautiful and comfortable. There was plenty of space for the kids to play and my husband and I to relax. We were in town for a funeral and this property served as a gathering place for family due to its size and central location. My kids enjoyed learning the story of this historical home. We are excited to stay here again! Highly recommended!

Women's Weekend Staycation

We loved staying here for a winter weekend getaway even though we live right here in this amazing neighborhood. It was perfect for our group of women who could stay close to home but feel like we got away from it all. We've long admired this historic home overlooking the river. The home was clean and the kitchen had great amenities. There were beautiful views of the Kankakee River all throughout the house. The hosts were friendly and made sure we had everything we needed! We hope to do it again in the warmer months when we can utilize the outdoor spaces. A quiet, peaceful weekend retreat!

Beyond beautiful

The house is stunning and so well appointed. But the location is what is most breathtaking. We spent most of our time in camp chairs along the river enjoying the view. Also got a tour of the FLW house across the lawn, which was also wonderful. Quiet, peaceful, historic but with all the modern amenities. And fresh tomatoes! Shari did a wonderful welcome and then left us in privacy for the rest of the weekend. Also greatly enjoyed the Kankakee River State Park. I wish we could have stayed longer. We'll be back with bells on!

Coming home.

We came back to town for a funeral and to visit family. We could not have had a better visit. We created so many new memories. The house was beautiful and so comfortable. Sitting on the porch and watching the river brought back so many memories. The homeowners were so nice! We will be back for sure.
