Even tough it's been a couple of months, we still reflect daily on the wonderful experience we all enjoyed while staying at Casa Escondida (two grandparents, four young adults and a toddler). The owner, Kristian, greeted us when we arrived with a tour of the home, helpful information about the area and a bowl of yummy local fruit. Throughout our stay he and his staff were so genuinely welcoming, helpful and also respected our privacy. The house is gorgeous and comfy. It is located near restaurants and shopping (including a grocery store full of local charm) but it is also very secluded and secure so we felt we were living in our own special paradise. We often started our days swimming in the salt water crystal clear warm pool and making a breakfast in the well equipped open kitchen that looks out on the pool and native plant garden. The beach down a path right across the street offered excellent surfing, walks, tide pools, and playing in the sand. Kristian was very knowledgeable about local spots and how best to enjoy each moment (taxi to and from airport, bikes, rental vehicles, surfing, grocery store, restaurants, masseuse, yoga, and much more). The first week we chose not to rent vehicles, instead traveling by foot or bike when experiencing the nearby surroundings. The second week, with Kristian's guidance, we rented a car and motorcycles so we could venture out farther to experience neighboring towns and sights. Always ending our day (and sometimes spending practically the whole day) at Casa Escondida was so therapeutic. We felt honored to get to know Kristian and his staff, getting to practice Spanish with the caring housekeeper, Meyling, and learning more of the pura vida ways.
