Chalet Robles is unforgettable. I cannot even describe the breathtaking views we woke up to each day (even in bad weather). I wish I could add pictures to this review, as it would completely sell you!
The communication from Henri (as well as his sweet mother via phone while we were there) was outstanding. He's a very kind, gracious host and incredibly responsive from start to finish.
The chalet fit our family of 7 very well, with room for all to be comfy. We cooked meals there often and took advantage of the fondue set as well. We spent a lot of time on the patio, just soaking up the sun and views. It's pretty neat to watch the gondola run during the day. There are also cows all around, which my kids just loved.
While it is in the hills above Grindelwald, there are many things to do very close by - the scooter bikes, the downhill carts as well as a few others that are easily accessible using the Bort station that is literally at your feet. One of our favorites was the park - not only was my 3 year old obsessed with playing there, the scenery (and in turn, the incredible pictures of him playing) is just breathtaking. We go to parks all over the world and this one was definitely our favorite!
Only a few small negatives that are worth mentioning - When we arrived, the chateau was completely dark and closed up (no shutters open, no welcome, etc). I was worried for a split second I had made the wrong choice. BUT, once we popped the windows open and let the light in, it was easy to see what a lovely, clean home we had come to. The driveway is just very tall grass, so when wet it is a bit unpleasant to walk on from the car, but that's a small aside. The hot water only works up until a certain amount used, so we had to alternate showers each day. We managed and it was okay. The wifi is iffy, but if you're coming here to be on your phone/computer, you're in the wrong spot! And possibly the only thing that actually really bothered us on this stay - the drive up to the chalet. It's a long, winding, one lane, tiny road that technically really isn't much of a road, very tight fit. That in itself was uncomfortable, but what made it worse was the people on the scooter bikes. They are everywhere, all day until the evening. Some don't move out of the way, some kind of do, but having to stop every few minutes (and not kill anyone) was stressful.
The positives FAR outweigh any negatives, and I definitely would stay again. This home is fantastic!!!
