Perfect spot

We enjoyed our stay. The condo was a really nice layout for our family. Had sand toys and chairs. The pool was so close, which we spent alot of time at. One thing to note, the rental company did not seem very familiar with what was in the house. I reached out to see if there was a pack and play and they said no. After lugging a pack and play we discovered one the in the closet. Hopefully if someone else needs it,they read this review.All and all would love to stay again!

Big Island getaway

Very good location and great layout of the condo . Kitchen well stocked, could use bigger wine glasses. On the negative, beds not very comfortable and need improvement. The noise from the young family above us was constant and at times very loud .

Great place in excellent location

This space and the entire complex is updated and very well maintained. The patio is wonderful and the pool area was great. The location is just a few minutes from beaches, stores/shopping and 20 minutes from the airport. If we return, we'd definitely stay here again!

Beautiful property in ideal location

We've stayed in this area twice and love it. This property is spacious, has all amenities, and is well maintained. We loved the ground floor access to the back yard overlooking the pool. Just steps from the pool, hot tub, gym, and grilling area. Easy 20 min walk to the beach, restaurants, and shops. We'd absolutely stay here again. One tip for the manager would be to consider blinds in the bathrooms. You can see into the full shower/bathroom from 2nd floor walkway. Plenty of beach accessories, chairs, boogie boards, etc. Love this property!

Wonderful Getaway

The condo was clean and great for a family with little kids. Lots of beach toys, a couple beach chairs/umbrellas, and a few snorkels with fins. The pool was fantastic and easy to access. No issues and lots of communication from the rental company made the stay easy!

Perfect location

We enjoyed our stay at The Shores. It was convenient to stores and restaurants. The unit was comfortable and well equiped. We especially enjoyed the pond off the lanai where we could watch the birds, the koi swimming and it all felt very relaxing. A good location to head north, south or visit Volcano Nat'l Park.

Well appointed condo

This condo was equipped with everything needed for my husband and myself. We mostly ate out, but e joyed morning coffee on the lanai that was peaceful overlooking ponds and the pool. We also liked there was a gym available. Close proximity to stores and shops.

The Shores complex is very well kept, quiet and relaxing.

The unit we rented was spacious and well equipped. It could use some updating and a good deep cleaning. The pool is a heated salt water pool which was very enjoyable. The Wiakaloa beach area is a beautiful location. I recommend the area and The Shores. Just be selective about the unit you choose.

Awesome condo!

This was a very nice, upgraded condo. The condo was very spacious, and it was decorated so nicely that it gave me some inspiration for a few upgrades that I want to do to my house. The location was very peaceful and it was convenient to lava lava, a bay, and other beaches nearby. We also checked out the Kings and Queens shops close by, which have a few really good dining options. The kitchen was well stocked with all the essentials. The property management was very professional, and they even called me to let us know we could check in early if we wanted. We hope to stay here again in the future!

Mixed Feelings

Location is ideal as both Kings and Queens mall are super close with supermarkets, stores and restaurants. The pool is really nice and the outdoor space is a great area to hangout with the nice weather. The pictures for the place are a bit dated as the furniture is a bit older than pictured. The place was clean when we arrived but we did see a couple cockroaches around the apartment unfortunately. By far our biggest complaint is the lack of insulation between units, we had a constant thumping from our upstairs neighbors with kids running around from 7am until late every night, you can literally hear and feel every footstep.

Condo was very clean and well stocked. We’ve stayed at other condos in Waikoloa and this one had the best floor plan for separating adults and kids. Was actually bigger than expected. Only complaint (and I don’t know if this is the building itself or the neighbors), is that I’m convinced that the Hawaii Alpine Ski team was upstairs breaking in their new ski boots. Either that, or someone was upstairs playing fetch with a baby elephant. Every morning at 4:30 we heard loud steps going back and forth, back and forth, back and forth, back and forth…… across the condo upstairs. This actually caused the bedroom door to rattle with each lap. Could be old joists, or could be inconsiderate people… didn’t ruin my trip in any way.

It was ok

Having every light switch labeled was very handy. The check in instructions were excellent. We had a few issues with ants and mice. Furniture was old and could use replacing. Communication with the property manager was good except when they delivered the ant traps to the wrong unit (and were made aware of it) they did nothing about it. We had to phone back and ask twice. Then when someone came in the unit with the mice and ant traps they turned up the thermostat. We had a very warm uncomfortable night until we noticed the temperature had been changed.

My husband and I did enjoy the condo very much. Everything the listing said was accurate; the lanai is huge, the accommodations are beautiful. For us this was perfect and what we were looking for. However, we did have an issue with the unit above us. One in which I called the property management people to ask them to intervene. I was told that the above unit was not managed by the folks who manage the unit we were in. The gal said that she would reach out to the property management of the above unit and ask them to contact the folks who were in the above unit. Either none of that happened or the folks above us didn't care. There is very little, if any at all, insulation between the ceiling/floor above this condo. So every time the people walked around, or jumped!, we heard it, early morning, late at night. My husband ended up going upstairs and asking the folks if they would stop the jumping around. They had a child who added to the constant thumping. My husband was told by one of the occupants that they were leaving the next day - we woke up around 5:30am because that's when those folks were awake. We had approximately two days of "reprieve", then the next family occupied the unit above us. They, too, were early risers so we were woken up before 5:00am during their stay. I do not blame the occupiers of the unit upstairs - I had really no idea of how HEAVY walking around could truly sound for the folks in "below" units and will be exceedingly mindful should we be in an above unit. I think that the owner(s) of this particular condo should consider reaching out to whomever owns the unit above and get some sound proofing between the ceiling/floor. We did enjoy our stay here, as I said, this condo was what we were looking for, and suited our needs. The incessant thumping sounds that went on during our stay was highly irritating. Though we did love this unit, we will never stay here again. I'm giving the five stars based on the categories that were presented; this condo definitely rates five stars. But, and this according to the rules, quiet time is from 9:00pm-8:00am, we did not have the "quiet time".

A very disappointing stay at Waikoloa Shores

The pictures of this property's interior are grossly misrepresented on the VRBO listing site. The pictures must have been taken a long time ago as the furniture and fixtures in the condo were not clean and were very old and worn. The general cleanliness of the property was the worst that we have ever seen in any of the properties on the Big Island that we have stayed at especially in the Waikoloa Hilton area. The towels that we were provided with had a bad smell, the floors were dirty and stained especially around the door leading in from the lanai area. We moved a chair in the living room and it was quite evident that no one had cleaned under it for quite a while. On the day that we checked in I received a text that the garbage disposal was leaking and someone would be there to fix the disposal the next day. All of a sudden the next morning someone was barging into the condo without knocking or ringing the bell. He said that management told him the condo was unoccupied. Since we had already used the entry keypad many times it would have to be impossible that management did not know that the condo was occupied. We were provided with a toilet brush in the master bathroom to clean the toilet. That toilet brush was disgustingly dirty and should have been in a landfill months and months ago. There was filthy dirty brown water in the reservoir that the toilet brush was in. We had 4 guests on the property and were only provided 2 beach towels. All the extra pillows in the both closets had no pillow covers on them so were unusable. The patio furniture was very dirty and there was an infestation of ants on the patio area and furniture. I would definitely never stay at a property managed by Kona Coast Vacations in the future. Other properties we have stayed at were managed by the owners who apparently care about their properties, were good about communicating and provided good pictures of the condition the property so you knew what you were getting. I hope that the owner of this property will be reading this review so they can think about finding another management company who will do a better job keeping the property up to standard. The pool and surround areas were beautiful. Too bad the property was not better maintained. Patti & Joe
