My friend and I stayed the weekend with our two dogs. I typically don't complain but I was particularly irked by a couple of things.
When I requested to book, the owner reached out to go over the house rules. All rules were fine, but he made what seemed to be a pretty condescending remark, "Your reviews look really good. Let's keep it that way." I almost asked to just cancel the request but decided not to let the comment ruin my plans.
My friend and I worked late and arrived after 8pm. After a hot week, the house was really warm and stuffy, with an odd plastic smell in one of the bedrooms. We were frustrated to find the A/C controls had a security code, which hadn't been provided, so we opened the windows and set up the fans. Odd that the house is advertised with A/C and there are a number of reminders to set the temp range, but no way to adjust without the code. The smell went away but the house remained uncomfortably warm until the morning. I was able to get the A/C code the next day.
That said, the house is very quiet, clean, well-equipped and near a calming stream. The beds were quite comfortable, and we loved the hot tub and outdoor tables. There are plenty of food and activities options within a 5-15 minute drive. However, with lots of other rental homes available near Mt. Hood, I think I'll choose differently next time.
