Cozy and Clean Cabin

Nice location

Beautiful location and place. I don’t know if the water is drinkable? Whole family was very sick after stay for 3 days. Chance you take I guess. But enjoyed our stay.

Perfect Location

My husband and stayed for a week in January. The cabin had what we needed. We normally stay in Bear Valley and after this stay, we prefer the location of Camp Conelly. The cabin is perfectly located within 15min to skiing, grocery stores and restaurants.

Comfy cabin close to Bear Valley

We stayed at this charming cabin over the Dr MLK Jr holiday weekend. It was clean, comfy and in a nice “neighborhood” of other cabins. The kitchen was well equipped and the cabin was perfect for our family of 4.

Perfect location for some R&R

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The location is beautiful and it’s nice and private. The cabin is well stocked with pots/pans, dishes, and towels. I recommend bringing your own toilet paper, paper towels, and garbage bags or you may need to buy them at the general store. You will love this cabin!

Nice Rustic Cabin

This little cabin was very cozy and in a great location. It was great for our small family and small dog. Keep in mind that you aren’t given much toilet paper, paper towels or laundry detergent, so bring your own if you’re staying more than two days. The kitchen is fine but I wouldn’t plan on cooking many meals. There is no dishwasher or garbage disposal which makes cooking inconvenient. Other than the spider webs throughout the wood ceilings it was mostly clean. I would also encourage the property owner to make sure rugs and comforters get a thorough cleaning.

Nice, small cabin in the woods

It was great overall, but the “dog bedroom” had a really bad mattress. It was obviously old and sunk in in the middle which made it not very comfortable. I’d think about going back, but they need a new mattress!!

Lovely Winter Hideaway!

This is a very cute, clean little house for a short mountain getaway. It was clean, warm, lots of family games, etc., quick access the Bear valley. The check-in process was easy... The only things to be aware of are no dishwasher or garbage disposal and one of the beds is very uncomfortable but since that's all about personal preference, if you love a soft squishy bed, it will be just right for you! Thanks!

Great Location

Nice cabin in a great location with easy access to a lot of outside activities. Easy check-in process and a lot of thought was put into the cabin to make it a nice stay (movies, board games, inside and outside gas fireplaces, etc.) Be aware if you’re allergic to dogs as there was unfortunately a fair amount of dog hair in the cabin. Also, the kitchen is functional but very small, so don’t expect to make elaborate meals. Lastly, one of the bedrooms has an incredibly uncomfortable bed with a giant, sinking hole in the middle. It didn’t affect us since we slept in the other room, but if it’s a larger group I would certainly keep that in mind. Overall a nice stay, and hopefully the dog hair and bed issue can be addressed to make it even better.

Perfect cozy cabin!

This was a great house for the 2 of us and would have easily accommodated another couple or children, though the small bathroom would make it a little close with 4 people. The layout of the living room/kitchen is good, with a very comfortable sectional sofa, nice tv, dining area, and big floor to ceiling windows looking out into the woods. Pleasantly decorated and a nice gas stove to quickly heat up the space and provide cabin ambiance. Comfortable beds, good quality sheets and towels. We really enjoyed our stay.

Sunny Feb weekend after snow storm 👍

The house was exactly as advertised - cozy, great deck and fire pit, warm gas stove fire. Worked well for our family if four and two dogs. The roads were plowed really well and the location is great - near Bear Valley. Beautiful wooded area around the house, and lots of great games for the family. Would go again! One note: if going in the winter, you will arrive to a cold house (that heats up pretty quickly).

Awesome stay

Goldilocks Would Love It

This cabin was charming and cozy, just the right size for our family of three. The cabin was clean, and the bedding was really nice. The couch was huge and comfy. We stayed during an extreme fire danger period, so we were unable to use the backyard fire pit, but it looked lovely and there was plenty of firewood. The grill was easy to use. The kitchen is small but actually well laid out. We brought our cook kit that we use for camping, but there were pots, pans, and utensils. Next time we'll make use of the popcorn popper. We didn't turn the t.v. on once! Our time was spent exploring, hiking, and reading on the deck or sofa. Overall, this little cabin was just right for the getaway we needed. We would stay here again.

Just as pictured and described!

We enjoyed a long-weekend at Calhoun's Cabin for our first time in Arnold, CA. The kitchen was well stocked, the laundry worked well (and there were some detergent packets), plenty of towels, fast internet, and great games/cable/tv options. It was warm so we did not get to enjoy the firepit but did use the deck fire-table. Check-in/check-out was breeze! The only hiccup we had was when it came to the trash and contacting Vacasa (the property management company for this rental). Though there was a bear locker for the trashcans, on our last night a bear broke into the locker, knocking it off it's cinderblock base and throwing the can several hundred yards away. The bear was not able to open the can, but we had a terrible time getting ahold of a person at Vacasa to report the incident, especially because there is no cell-service in Arnold (which we knew when we rented). As I write this review, I have returned from Arnold to my home in the Bay Area and on hold with Vacasa to report the incident. This is nothing again the property itself, but renters please be aware if you were to need to talk to someone at Vacasa during your stay, you might not be able to.

Good vacation rental but horrible bed.

Nice vacation property. Surrounded by other homes and lots of trees. The queen size mattress in one of the bedrooms needs replacing. Totally sinks in the middle and very uncomfortable. Two people could not sleep in it.

Would be great during the Summer time

I've taken a while to write this review because it is going to be lengthy. Let me begin by saying that the place is adorable. It was clean, comfortable and during the day we arrived we highly enjoyed ourselves. We arrived on a Friday afternoon and took advantage of the fire pit, played many games of horse shoes and prepared and ate a great meal in the well equipped kitchen. That next morning we woke up to snow. It was a beautiful site and my son had a great time making snow balls and building his very first snowman. Saturday night, the power went out. We didn't think much of the fact that EVERYTHING in the place was electric, even the "wood" stove until there was absolutely no heat. We woke up Sunday and realized that we were not going to be able to dig the car out of the driveway and head home. BUT, at that time there was power again. We began to warm up a bit and I tried for almost 3 hours to get a hold of someone to let them know that there was no way we could leave that day.I emailed and never heard back. I called the local number and it wouldn't go through. I called the 800 number and was number 88 in the que. Before I could ever get through to anyone the power went out again. This was at about 11:40am on Sunday. Well, when the power went out the electric portable phone that has Comcast service stopped working. We could no longer connect to Wi-Fi on our cells and had NO cell service. The power stayed off the rest of the time that we were there. A tree fell into the driveway right in front of the car on Monday morning. We were literally freezing. The house was at 41 degrees inside and quickly getting colder. We were running out of food and hope at this point. We even attempted to dial 911 multiple times from our cells and the portable 'land line' that didn't work. Eventually my husband made the trek through the most snow I had ever seen to a nearby neighbor where we could hear a generator running. The elderly man from that house was nice enough to come down to the driveway with his hand saw and helped to clear the tree but he did not have a phone or radio to call out for help. Then a passerby stopped to ask if we were ok in there and went down the hill a bit to find a fireman who literally saved our lives and helped us get out. It's not a winter friendly place. Other than thinking we would die from hypothermia it is a great place. I wouldn't mind going back in the Summer time.

Upsetting

I give three stars because it is a beautiful, cozy place that we highly enjoyed until the power went out. To try and make a long story short: everything in this place is run on electricity. If the power goes out you cannot even keep warm with the 'wood' stove because guess what? It's electric. Since a large tree fell in front of the car during a snow storm we were stranded nearly 24 hours without cell service, or phone of any kind, no hot water, no way to cook, and NO heat. By the time a local firefighter came by and helped us out we were stuck without power for 23 hours and huddling in every blanket and still freezing. It was 39 degrees inside the cabin and rapidly getting colder. Other than not being prepared for real mountain situation like the power going out, it is a really nice place
