The stairs and rocks to the lake were challenging. The house and property are beautiful super clean and comfortable. I would totally book this property again.

Great Lake spot

12 adults & 1 toddler enjoyed this spacious and comfy lake house. A great place to unwind and relax. The stairs, as advertised, are definitely a challenge for any older adults or anyone unfit. A great exercise though. Would definitely recommend Carpe Diem and would stay again!

Flat hollow marina cabin with a view

Fair warning the steps are killer! If you are not physically able to walk nearly 200 steps to get to the dock, pick a different house. You do waste time driving back and forth to the marina to pick up those who are unable to do steps. Otherwise the house and host were fantastic. This house is more designed for a couple families with kids and not really for a large group of adults. On rainy days there are no activities to do indoors for adults. The loft bed is definitely for kids and the kitchen is small and not enough seating for everyone if there are adults. Perfect tucked away quiet area for a couple families to enjoy the stay at Norris lake. House was very clean and well stocked. Plenty of towels. Listing is as described I just didn’t read carefully enough to realize it was not the best place for our large adult family vacation. Joe is great to work with and was very willing to accommodate early arrival and late departure and gave excellent directions. Would stay there again which a much smaller group. Honestly, no more then 6 adults with a few kids would be a perfect fit In this house. Thanks Joe for a great time and for sharing your house with us!

Very nice home - excellent view!

This is a very nice home. Amazing view! The home is well supplied and comfortable. The steps to the dock were a bit daunting but we managed well. Flat Hollow Marina is very nice too. I recommend this beautiful home to anyone. If you have someone who can't do the steps to your boat... Just have someone get the boat and meet you at the marina. Plenty of parking. That's what we did. Otherwise it was a beautiful week!

Great place!

This is amazing place. The view from the decks are beautiful. The only downfall is the steps to the water. You have to be prepared if you plan on staying the day at the water. Would highly recommend this house to adults that are in shape.

Relaxing with a great view

Loved staying here. It was a little hard to find for people arriving after dark, but we would visit this site again! Home was spacious and pretty well equipped. The 5th bedroom is a loft in a upstairs bedroom and is better for youth or smaller kids. Overall this place was just what we needed. Thank You!

Cabin fun

When we first arrived to the cabin it looked like it hadn’t been cleaned very well but the place was very spacious and we had a lot of fun. The steps to get to the dock are not made for older people of small children, we counted 166 steps but overall a very nice getaway!

Carpe Diem Review

Carpe Diem was a great place to stay. This was the first time we have been in this general vicinity of Norris Lake. The house was in a great protected portion of Flat Hollow Marina and allowed our kids to swim without concern. The dock was great and covered our boat from the weather. The 189 steps down to the dock were a fun work out, and not bad at all. They would be a challenge for elderly individuals, however. The decks and hot tub are great for outdoor hang out, but the lack of a fire pit or area for kids to play outside were the only downers. The home had ample room for 2 large families. The internet was great at the house and even extended down to the dock which made communication possible (via Facetime Audio). The owners were quite receptive and quick to respond with the two issues we had. Of note: the raccoons are active here and will get into the trash (even when tied down). They even venture onto the dock. We will definitely consider repeat renting at Carpe Diem. Thank you Joe and Dee.

Family vacation

We really enjoyed our stay at Norris lake. The house is comfortable and plenty of room to spread out. Communication with the owner is fantastic. The only downside is there is no cell service in the entire region so you have to use WiFi for calls. Also if you have elderly parents you will want to pick them up at the marina which is very close by. There are a lot of stairs to the dock from the house and it does take a lot of time and energy for our parents to walk up and down. Otherwise this is a great home and we enjoyed our stay very much.

Nice place!

This place is very nice. Exceptionally clean and well kept. Joe the owner was super responsive and very accommodating. The only negative is that there are lots of step to the lake. We counted 178. So if you are in anything less than very good shape or over 60 you will want to look at another place.

Great stay at Flat Hollow!

Joe is a great host and this is a great place to stay! Highly recommended ! Very clean and spacious. Kitchen was well outfitted with everything you'd need to cook for the family. The upper AC went out right before we showed up ... Joe had 3 in-room units installed and running, and had the AC replaced while we were there ... no problems at all! Everybody comments on the steps down to the dock ... yes, they were a great workout. They were easier to climb at the end of the trip than the beginning. Nothing to worry about! It only takes a few minutes to get your boat from the dock to Flat Hollow Marina, so it's really convenient for ice & gas. WiFi worked great too. Looking forward to coming back!

Follow-up on Visit at the Flat Hollow Marina

Overall, was clean and we had a great time on the lake. However, there are some recommendations for maintenance: Kitchen lights need replacement of ballast or starter. Dryer takes way too long to dry, which indicates that the dryer vent may be clogged with lint which is a fire hazard. A/C filters look like they haven't been changed in a year or more. We changed the one in the main hallway off the master bedroom. The stairs down to the dock need some repair and lighting would be very helpful at night. The access to the dock is extremely hazardous and needs improvement. The grill needs some checking- did not heat well. We did enjoy the area, which was quiet and we saw deer, turkey, fox, and something else down near the water that we don't have in Florida so didn't know what it was. The lake temperature was perfect and we loved sitting out on the deck in the evening watching the fireflies

Birthday weekend

We spend 4 days in this lake house. The place is very spacious, amazing scenery from the balconies and it is also pet friendly. There is a lot of steps down to the lake so be aware if you bring kayaks or anything that requires lifting down to the harbor. We had a really good time, there is nature all around and it is very quiet. You can relax on the hot tub which is located in the patio. Definitely recommend.

Nice house; not our favorite lake/location

The property was well-maintained and appropriately described. No issues to speak of, but the water is very far from the house and the climb back up from the dock is steep.

I am a police officer and my wife runs a small business in Dayton Ohio. We raised 3 sons and now have 4 granddaughters. we have been vacationing at Norris for 20 years. I love this house and rented it at least once a year. in 2018 the home owner talked me int to buying it because he was building in the tropics. Best purchase ever!!!
