Beyond disappointed
We booked this property for my Father’s 80th birthday. 14 of us travelled to the south of France from the UK in August to celebrate. We spent months choosing the right property, with the key requirements being 1. A swimming pool 2. Air conditioning
We shortlisted about ten properties in France. We weren’t overly bothered whereabouts in France it was, but these two things were key.
So we booked and paid a large amount for the house, but hoped it would be worth it.
The house and grounds were beautiful and we were very excited when we arrived. I asked the host how to use the air conditioning to which she replied “oh we don’t have it” so I explained it was on the property details, which she denied. I showed her them and she said well we don’t have it.
It was a little awkward to say the least but we hoped we’d manage and to be honest, we didn’t have a lot of choice. The heat ranged between 32-38 degrees Celsius that week and it was unbearable inside the house at all times of the day. This meant all meals had to be eaten outside, which in turn meant we all got bitten alive by mosquitoes, including the children. It was impossible to sleep. You felt like you’d had a shower in bed.
I have been in contact with Vrbo regarding this and the customer service has been appalling. We were sold a property rental with a major aspect missing and have been offered £100 refund which quite frankly is insulting.
I very rarely complain but feel like we have been completely misled.
