All-inclusive self-catering in a beautiful villa
This was our first time to the Jamaica, so we were slightly unsure of what would await us (2 adults and 2 teenage boys).
One Rhythm is a beautiful villa and it is well suited for a party of 4 or 5. The villa itself opens up to the elements and this helps keep the house relatively cool even when the temperatures outside get sweaty. The villa is well kept and we had no complaints. The garden is lovely and we enjoyed lazing around in the various hammocks or lying on the beach-chairs. The beach is only a few meters away from the villa and we enjoyed swimming or snorkeling in the warm ocean. The beach was usually quite empty with the odd friendly local offering a chance to look at his hand-crafted “souvenirs”. Compared to other countries we have visited, we found the vendors to be friendly and more inclined to accept a “no thanks”.
From the moment Andrew picked us up at the airport until the last day he dropped us off for the return flight, we were cared for 24x7. Ms. Annette stayed on-site in a separate part of the house and cared for us by cooking delicious breakfasts and evening meals. She purchased fruit and vegetables from local vendors and went to the beach to get fresh fish from the returning fishermen. Each evening meal was a new introduction into typical Jamaican cooking. 5 stars! Ms Annette also made sure the house was always tidy and clean. On days that Ms Annette took a well earned- break, Ms Sandra was there to stand-in.
Andrew was available for use when we wanted to go on a trip to the various sights. He was always punctual and a very safe driver. When we spent several hours at Rick’s Café, he waited patiently and then drove us back to Duncan’s through the Jamaican night. We were glad to have Andrew as our driver, as driving in Jamaica probably takes a bit of getting used to – especially at night.
Due to the location of the villa and Duncans, you will need some form of transport. Even a trip to the local supermarket requires a car. Because we didn’t have rental car – Andrew was available to also take us to the shops. Ms. Annette came with us to the supermarket in Duncans, so shopping for the following few days was always easy. There is also a well-stocked small shop on the grounds of Silver Sands – about a 15 minute walk from the villa. Andrew charged us between 15 $ (supermarket trip) to 180 $ (whole day driving around the island). This can add up – so it makes sense to plan the stay to get the most out of the trips.
