Great stay!

We really enjoyed this home! The ocean views from the upper and lower decks were phenomenal! House had everything we needed and was a good setup for our family (two teenage kids and their friends).

Fantastic stay

Family vacation of adult siblings with a couple 3-year-olds, and we had such a blast! The listing is detailed and accurate. So I’ll just add that it was very well-stocked with cookware and even things like ziplocks which was a nice surprise. Owner was very responsive, and it was nice corresponding with/renting from the actual owner and not a realty company. Nice outdoor shower with warm water, and I also liked the entry mud room to store beach stuff. The 2 Oceanside decks were AMAZING! Great house, great vacation, definitely recommend!

Beautiful home and perfect location

This property is oceanfront and in the perfect location! Very nice place and plenty of room for all 8 of us. Upon check-in we did notice sand on the kitchen counters, in the kitchen floor, in some of the bedroom drawers and on the sofas. There was also trash from the previous renter on the floor under the edge of the sofa. But these were easily fixed and the rest of the unit was very clean! Owner was attentive and responsive, and great about keeping us updated on the tropical storm moving through. Great place to stay!

Good timers!

A wonderful spot in North Topsail. It was completely as advertised, but be prepared for a couple of flights up to the top. The pool is tremendous and our five year old granddaughter loved it. Owners were easy to connect with an allowed us to stay for a late check out and helped us check in a little early which was great! Would definitely stay there again!

Great family vacation!

This was a great property for our family! The views are incredible, and you are pretty much on the beach. The pool is a little small for the community, but it was always warm and clean so not a big deal for us. The kids loved it. Location is right next door to Surf City Line which is delicious and across the street from a couple of bars which was nice for the adults who wanted to get out for a drink or two and come right back. All and all, our group loved Ken’s place and all said we would love to stay again.

I can't say enough great things about this property! Everything was clean, the views are amazing, they posted everything you need to know right on the fridge! Ken was super helpful about making sure we knew where to get linens, getting us the parking passes early and giving great directions. We loved it and hope we have a reason to return!

Highly Recommended

We had an excellent stay at Ken’s place in Surf City. He was very communicative and everything was easy and smooth during our trip. The property was perfect: clean and contemporary. You can’t really get closer to the beach without steps on the sand. Great ocean views off the beach side porches and we loved having Surf City Line steps away. Solid WiFi and nice TV. Wifey was very impressed with the well-appointed kitchen. We definitely hope to visit again. Top notch Surf City VRBO. Thanks again, Ken!

Amazing location

Incredible location, view , beach, & set-up. Pool was fair..we knew it was a community pool, but other than 4 Adirondack chairs, there was nothing to make the pool inviting to hang out (probably the intent of the HOA I’m guessing). Surf City is a wonderful beach town and area with a good variety of restaurants and grocery stores . We would stay there again in a heartbeat except for the fact that the cleaning service was inadequate and kitchen utensils and pots/pans were all in fair shape. Nicely decorated, and you can’t beat the location…35 yds to the beach!

We love the beach and our week away with family! Almost Oceanfront was wonderful!! We have stayed at Sea Star Village before and were disappointed that the townhome where we usually stay was booked but it was a BLESSING in disguise! Almost Oceanfront had a better view! The kitchen was so well stocked! My husband loves to cook at the beach and he had everything he could possibly need!! I am a "knife snob" and usually take my own knives but I didn't even need to get them out! Everything was clean, the temperature in the home was good, beds were comfortable, space is well laid out. I enjoyed reading the guest book and how ironic . . . one of my husbands teachers in his school stayed at the same place in 2006!! How cool is that?? I highly recommend Almost Oceanfront. We will definitely be booking again!

Home Run!!

Our stay was fabulous! The weather was perfect! Great family vacation with tons of memories made. Location was perfect. House was perfect. Everything we needed- and the ocean front views are the best! Enjoyed the conversations with folks I met at the pool. The owner is so easy to work with. Immediately returns our messages. I left a speaker behind and he worked with me so I could have his cleaner ship it back home. She did a fantastic job helping me out. Everyone was pleasant and we always enjoy the southern hospitality, that’s why we’ll be back! Thank you Ken!

Water issues

Their was a water main issue (no fault of owner) and we had no water. Not much water pressure for showers even after it was fixed. The owner said that was common on island. Never had that problem with other rentals on island.

Best View Ever

6 of us stayed for the week in July. This view off the main family room was amazing! We didn’t use any of the kitchen items except for the Keurig, so I cannot attest to what was all there. It did look like a lot for those who cook on vacation. There are many steps, so if you can’t handle that you may want to look elsewhere. I appreciated them, it felt like I was getting a workout in each day. Lots of tvs throughout the condo. We mainly used the family room. For those of you that wanted to watch an old vcr tape you can do that as well. Lots of movies at the condo. Unfortunately, the sleeper sofa was not very comfortable. It should be replaced. There were 6 of us but only 5 seats - loveseat & couch. One of us had to sit on the extra dining room chair. With 4 bedrooms, there should be more comfortable seats. The location was great. A short walk out the back and you were at the beach, very convenient. The outside shower came in handy to rinse off before heading inside or to the pool. Restaurants were nearby and there was also one steps away from our condo. It had live music, but it never caused a noise problem. The pool was nice, small, but at times we were the only ones in it. It was always kept clean. Never heard any neighbors on either side of us. Good sound proofing in the walls.

Thanksgiving Getaway!

This was my first VRBO experience and our first thanksgiving without my father-in-law. It was a fantastic experience. The property fit all six of us adults giving us the privacy we needed. The beach was beautiful and easily accessible. We were able to spend the time with our Marine son-in-law based in Jacksonville.

2nd floor deck off kitchen/living area overlooking Atlantic on Thanksgiving 11-26-09. Sunny & 65 degrees. The beach is great any time of the year. In November you've got the whole beach to yourself! 11-27-10 update...came back for 2010 Thanksgiving and we got into the 70's-the weather was great again!

Darum fiel die Entscheidung auf diese Unterkunft

After searching the southeastern Atlantic coast we found the perfect spot to buy our '2nd Home' to get away from things. Surf City (Topsail Island) provided peace and tranquility. Unlike many alternatives, Topsail was less commercial (traffic) and developed, but there were still many conveniences within 5 minutes. Beaches were not crowded most times of the year. There are plenty of other options besides going to the beach (i.e. fishing, golfing, tennis, biking, etc.) but we never get tired of the beach. There is also a good assortment of restaurants with affordable price ranges, and if you get tired of going out you can always pick up fresh seafood from several local establishments. Our beachhouse is our sanctuary and provides the 'therapy' we need to get away from it all.

April 3, 2025 UPDATE: Carol is retired and I am semi-retired-working from the beach in the Spring & Fall is ideal and peaceful. We now get to spend weeks (if not months) at a time to enjoy OUR SECOND HOME! What this means to you as a renter is that you are getting to stay at our place that we keep up because it is our home! We make every effort to keep the kitchen well stocked with dishes, pots & pans, as well as keep the furniture up-to-date. Every effort is made to keep our place clean, and comfortable for not only our enjoyment, but yours.
