The position of this property, on the hillside above - and overlooking - Soubes village, is really wonderful. To complement the elevated position, the garden is a lovely place to be, with mature plants, a variety of seating areas (a large dining table under the trees, a small cast iron table by the pool, a stone table on the edge of the garden, overlooking the village, and another table on a balcony/terrace outside the living room with panoramic mountain views), as well as the good-sized pool, table tennis table and petanque court. It would be very relaxing to spend your entire stay here, serenaded constantly by the insects, but the area is too good for that. There is so much to see and do - walking, cycling, villages, hills, gorges, coast, Montpellier, Millau, etc. - that most people could happily settle here for several months. The house itself is a clean, light, decent space, well stocked with everything you could need, whatever the weather (which, for our fortnight stay, was wall-to-wall sunshine - a couple of afternoon storms aside). The walk into the village of Soubes is a pleasant 15-20 minutes, much of it alongside the river. (We enjoyed the walk in with our daughters - aged 6 and 8 - to fetch bread for breakfast each morning.) The village itself is attractive, with a well-stocked small shop and good cafe-restaurant. All in all, we would highly recommend this property. We generally try to stay somewhere different each year but are seriously considering a return visit to La Lavande.
