Haus am Meer mit herrlichem Rundumblick auf das türkisfarbene Wasser der Bahamas, von den Balkonen vorne und hinten.

4. Schlafzimmer und 2 Badezimmer - Mit den detailliert angeordneten Betten können wir wirklich 12 Personen beherbergen.
Niemand muss auf einem Schlafsofa, einem Feldbett oder einer hochgezogenen Matratze auf dem Boden schlafen.

Die offene Küche und der Essbereich bieten Platz für alle. Wenn Sie im Freien speisen möchten, steht im Deckbereich ein großer Tisch mit Platz für 8 Personen zur Verfügung.

Das Haus befindet sich in einem gepflegten Obstgarten mit Meer im Hintergrund und einem Sandstrand auf der gegenüberliegenden Straßenseite (50 m entfernt), der über das Restaurant The Sandbar zugänglich ist. Die Meerseite ist tief genug, um zu schwimmen / schnorcheln und ein Boot während Ihres Aufenthalts in der Nähe zu halten.

Wir haben vorne kleine Korallenriffe mit einheimischen Tintenfischen, Kugelfischen und den üblichen bunten Rifffischen. Rochen und Schildkröten kreuzen vorbei, es gibt immer etwas zu sehen. Tauchen Sie Ihre Rute in das Wasser und Sie sind sich ziemlich sicher, dass Sie genug für gegrillten Fisch zum Abendessen bekommen würden.

Das Haus ist abgelegen, aber nicht abgelegen und nur eine kurze Golfwagenfahrt (10 Minuten) von allen Einrichtungen in Spanish Wells Town, Bars, Restaurants, Geschäften, Supermärkten, Kliniken, Ärzten und einem atemberaubenden Halbmondstrand mit warmem türkisfarbenem Wasser und seidigem Wasser entfernt weißer Sand. Der Strand ist ideal für Erwachsene und Kinder, da das Wasser sehr flach beginnt und von einem vorgelagerten Riff geschützt wird.

Unsere nächste Bar und Restaurant ist "The Sandbar" gegenüber dem Haus am Strand. Das Essen ist gut und das Personal freundlich, auch 1 Minute zu Fuß von der Haustür, 30 Sekunden, wenn Sie verzweifelt sind.


Spanish Wells ist auch der Ort, an dem die Schnellfähre 'Bo Hengy' von Nassau jeden Morgen um 10:00 Uhr ankommt und nachmittags zur 30 Minuten entfernten Harbour Island zurückkehrt. Regierungsfähren nach Eleuthera legen alle paar Minuten ab und erreichen den Flughafen North Eleuthera, der etwa 25 Minuten entfernt ist.


Die Aussicht ist atemberaubend und das Haus ist ein Teil davon. Von Sonnenaufgang bis Sonnenuntergang auf der Veranda werde ich nie müde, aufs Meer hinauszustarren, mit einem Drink in der Hand und frischem Hummer, der auf dem Grill kocht.

Beautiful and peaceful

Just beautiful. A great place for R and R. However, flies are a huge problem at certain times. It seems like we chose that time. And you must be armed with bug spray. Other than that, our stay was magical!

It’s in the details

Location is beautiful, and we very much enjoyed our selves. However there were two issues that should be noted. The house is in need of maintenance. The refrigerator is poshest and needs replaced. When on vacation I don’t set an alarm, the fridge had other ideas. Could use an investment. The 2nd point is that I felt the photos and video gave the impression that the access to the water was easy, it was not. The “ramp” to the water is rocky and with waves and wind is difficult to navigate. Finally we expected two kayaks there was only one and it had a leak that wasn’t apparent until 50 yards off shore.

Ok place. Water was unusable and made the house smell bad.

House was ok. Furniture is stained. Water was the main issue. It was black and smelled terrible. We bought several gallons of water to sponge bath and to drink/cook etc. No TV in Master. Bedspread was stained. Towels and linen had stains. Wouldn’t rent again.

2 weeks at the Blue House

We have throughly enjoyed our time at the Blue House, the kids had so much to do in Spanish Wells and we had our privacy on Russell Island, and there is nothing like privacy when you are on vacation ! Justin the owner responded quickly to any and all questions we had, we will definitely be back!

Blue water getaway!

Spanish Wells is a beautiful island. We were three woman traveling - so safety was my main priority. Once we got there and saw the house, the deck and got in that magical water... any stress or worry melted away. You can kayak and snorkel right off the house - make sure to bring some water shoes. House is as pictured. Only drawback was the taste of the tap water - however they left us a 5 gallon water which we used to make ice / brush out teeth / etc. It really wasn't an issue other than a small surprise when you first brushed your teeth or shower. We rented a golf cart and went all over town, also took the ferry to Eleuthera. Boat tour with Crazy Roy is a MUST - Franklin our caretaker was great. He lives next door and you only seem him if you want to - he won't intrude but will always respond. Justin - homeowner responded to my logistic questions like an old friend lending me his house. I can't wait to come back and see my new friends again!!!!!

Beautiful location but house needs maintenance

The good: The house is in a beautiful location on the ocean on Russell Island. We loved snorkeling, kayaking, relaxing in the back yard hammock and on the beautiful sand beaches around Spanish Wells. The caretaker (Franklin) and his wife were super nice and helpful during our stay. The bad: There is a lot about the house that needs maintenance. The oven did not work (not a big deal, but wish we had known before grocery shopping). Midway through our stay the icemaker/freezer started making an extremely loud noise and we had to keep the icemaker off (again a minor inconvenience). A bigger issue was the air conditioning units in the living room and upstairs bedrooms starting leaking a lot of water. The repairman came the next day and put more freon in them, but the upstairs one never worked right and it was extremely hot in that bedroom and upstairs hallway. The second major issue was we ran out of water six days into our stay. Frankie switched us over to a reserve tank and the water smelled strongly of sulfur the rest of our stay. Everything in the house (including us and our clothes) reeked of the sulfur smell. Also, a previous review from several years ago mentioned the upstairs master bedroom mattress being worn out. I guess it was never replaced because sleeping on that bed was like sleeping on concrete. It was uncomfortable enough that I ended up on the couch several nights. We would definitely go back to Spanish Wells, but would find a different house to rent next time.

Lovely stay in Eleuthera!

If you’re looking for a quiet place to spend time on a beatiful island, this is it! Justin’s place is on the westernmost end of Russell Island/Spanish Wells, facing the Atlantic Ocean. There are neighboring homes, but the town is a 10 minute golf cart ride away. Across the street is the Sandbar restaurant, which has good food, drinks, and it’s own beach, so that worked nicely for dining out without having to drive. In town, the Shipwreck is the place to go! The property and home have a nicely sized yard, and while there is no beach, there is a large deck out over the water, and on a calm day the turquoise water is great for swimming - my husband did a 1 mile swim out there one morning and raved about it. We sat out there in the mornings on the lounge chairs, too. The house worked great for us and our teenage children, everyone had a nice room, privacy, and the house felt secure and safe. The W/D worked well, but are a bit worn and there was no soap or supplies. The wifi worked well, no issues with power (our friends were staying on south Eleuthera and they had power issues twice that week), and there were plenty of sheets/towels/etc. It’s a great casual home for a true getaway! The road it’s on made for a nice running route as well, taking advantage of the distance from town to have plenty of time to enjoy the birdsong, the views, and the gardens along the way. We would consider it again when we return to Eleuthera!

Great place! Would rent again.

I saw a recent poor review that was posted after I booked but before we departed. In response to that review: 1)We had no issues with the water. 2)I have no idea if the cable worked as I never turned on the TV. 3)I slept in the upstairs bedroom and the bed isn't great and probably should be replaced. That said I slept in the bed every night and I would sleep in it again. 4)The washing machine was quirky but worked fine. Overall the house, in my experience, is fairly typical of rentals available in the area. It could probably use some maintenance here and there but that could be said of a brand new house in a tropical island climate. The location is quiet but not secluded. There is good beach access either in front of the restaurant across the street, on the west end of the island or anywhere in Spanish Wells. This house is a really great place for a group. 6 adults and 4-6 kids could comfortably be accommodated. I will definitely stay here again.

Will not rent again- no water!

The island is amazing and we have stayed there before. This house is not! We spent 14 days at the property over christmas and new years. I had confirmed there would be internet at the house. I needed it due to work. There was no internet service at the house and it took 5 days to get it turned on. There is also no phone so no way to contact anyone or them to contact you. We sat and waited for 2 days for the cable guy then finally had to enjoy our vacation and risked leaving the door unlocked. There is not cable tv. He does not pay for that. I never asked before going so that is my fault and we can survive with out it. The washer and dryer were broken and did not work. They said there was a trick and you have to turn it through the cycles. I tried several times but still could not get it to work. The king size bed upstairs looks like a camel due to sagging spots in the bed. I woke up every morning with my arms asleep due to the bed. WE RAN OUR OF WATER!! The water tank that collects rain water ran out and I guess they don't have city water. No water to flush toilet or bath. No water to due dishes. I sent a message but no response. I also sent the owner a message prior to this review about our stay to give him the opportunity to correct it. Again, I have not heard form him.

Loved it, Loved it, Loved it !!!!

We stayed at the Blue house as the base for our honey moon in May 2014. It was perfect. The house is stunning with views to match. Anything you may need, be it a BBQ, fishing equipment, snorkelling equipment etc is provided and if you need something else, say a boat, a water taxi, a deep sea fishing trip or some scuba diving, the owner seems to know everyone on the island, so can be easily sourced. Nothing seems too much here. The garden is well appointed and literally runs down into the sea, so perfect for a cooling dip or other adventures. We found there was nothing better than harvesting a coconut from the garden (there are hundreds), chilling the bounty and having a freezing cold gin and coconut water as a sundowner followed by BBQ'd lobster and reef fish on the deck. Pure bliss!!!! The island is stunning with a number of bars and restaurants to while away an evening and chat to the locals, but perfectly situated if you fancy exploring the surrounding islands, which are superb. A beautiful house on a beautiful island.

Family traveller

The Blue house was a perfect place for our family and friends to be able to relax, let the kids run and play, cook the fresh catch of the day, and visit after the kids went to bed. Lots of room, perfect for 2 families! Can't begin to describe the view of both the Atlantic and Carribean waters. We loved the safe, friendly feeling at every moment of our trip. James and Chantel are amazing, taking care of us from the minute we landed in Eleuthera. Most definitely a relaxing holiday, not for someone looking to party or be entertained other than by nature and paradise itself. Thank you Justin for sharing your piece of heaven.

The house was awesome great rooms and view. The island is so relaxing and the locals were very nice. This is a laid back island wonderful island great for snorkeling and fishing. The food is good but not to many places to go out to eat but overall very friendly. We would definitely go back and stay here if it was available

Fantastic spot for family getaway

Had a fabulous 9 days here. Snorkeling off the front of the house everyday. Lots of small fish to seen. House was fabulous; very clean and very well stocked. Spanish Wells is a "dry" island so you need to stock up with liquor before you land; not really a problem as the liquor store is only a 10 minute boat ride away ($8 round trip) I would plan on cooking your meals the restaurants we went to where very basic (sandwiches and fries etc) We had the pleasure of spending a day on the water with James - we snorkeled and ate conch out of the shell. Fantastic fun. Truly a great spot to relax and chill. Thanks Justin we hope to come back again dealing with you was a pleasure. The pix on VRBO are a bit dated as there are now homes on either side. Not an issue really but you will not be as isolated as the pix might lead you to believe.

Perfect - the Blue House

My wife and I, plus son and daughter-in-law have just spent a delightful week at the Blue House. The house itself is wonderfully light and airey with more than enough room for us. Ceramic tiled floors throughout were a great benefit as far as housekeeping was concerned. A truely comfortable place to stay. All mod cons, nothing lacking! Out on Russell Island there is a far greater sense of room and of seclusion than in the more builtup areas of Spanish Wells itself. Having the sea at the bottom of the garden was amazing and also having a swim a short 100 yards walk the other direction if the wind was up was luxuary indeed! The people of Spanish Wells in their beautifully neat and clean town were a joy. All are friendly, helpful and kind of like the people I remember from my youth - polite, easygoing and just downright nice! James and Shantell who caretake the place were just the perfect "hosts". They helped in all sorts of ways and left us alone (at the end of James' phone!) when we didn't need anything. James knows the sea around there like he was born there (he was!) and had us snorkling out on a beautiful reef, looking for sand-dollars on a pristine beach and shelling with lunch on another deserted island. All this in the boat belonging to Justin the house owner. We ate in, ate out and even once asked Shantell to prepare and deliver a mind boggling lobster dinner for a very reasonable amount. Even had leftovers for another meal! Spanish Wells does not have the "schmutz" of the Nassau type tourist industry. To each his own but we do not need to be "entertained". We didn't even get aroung to reading the books we brought along. Renting a golf buggy (they zoom all over the islands) from Harbourside Rentals and having the perfect place to stay together with James' friendship and guidance made for a memorable stay. Now just to get back there!!

My husband and I stayed at the Blue House in February and had a wonderful time. It's a lovely setting to read or just watch the cruise ships go by. We took a swim in the back at least twice a day and with the privacy that surrounded us...bathing suits were optional. The house is also beautiful, spacious and functional for just a couple or a whole family. The owner did a great job providing information about the island and the house. Having our own personal care-taker, who lived up the road, wasn't too bad either. James is the best! If crowds, bars and casinos are your thing then don’t stay here but if you love being surrounded by beautiful scenery, visiting a friendly island and want to truly relax then book your vacation at the Blue House on Russell Island. We plan on going back next year!

We had a great time at the Blue House. Stayed over xmas '08 and the weather was gorgeous. We swam and snorkelled everyday. Urchins, star fish, sea horses, barracuda, sand dollars, sting rays. Kids had a great time swimming at both beaches and is very safe for the little ones. The house accomodated all 11 (+ an infant)of us very well. The town of Spanish Wells is small and friendly. The most beautiful beach we have seen yet. A very quiet relaxing vacation amid a safe community. Highly recommended for those looking for just that.

The Blue House is a wonde...

The Blue House is a wonderful place to stay while enjoying the wonders of Spanish Wells/Russell Island. The owner and caretaker are incredibly helpful and easy to work with. The house accomodated our extended family with ease. Private beach is amazing for snorkeling or just looking out to sea. I would highly recommend a visit to this house and this island!

We had a lovely time at the Blue House. Two weeks was not enough! The children loved it. We loved the beaches and snorkeling in front of the house and across the street. We were greeted by a family of dolphins several times. The house is very well equipped and handled our crowd of six adults and three children very easily. There is no need to use the ac as the cross breeze is fantastic and nice and cool at night. Justin was a real pleasure to work with and the people of Spanish Wells are lovely.If you want relaxation and being away from everything this is your place!

We visted this lovely hom...

We visted this lovely home over the Christmas holiday. There were nine total all ages 13-82. We had the best time. It was the most relaxing vacation I have ever had. The house was great and had everything we needed. If we had any problem at all James the house caretaker was there in a flash and helped us out. His wife Shantel prepared several meals for us that were fabulous. she is a great chef. Spanish Wells is so quaint and cute. The people are very friendly and will give you the shirt off their back. Renting from Justin was a pleasure. I am a very busy person and he made it all very easy. I hope to go back again soon
