Lovely place to get away

This is a charming apartment that is wonderful for a getaway. The beds were comfortable. The house was bright and cheery. Sandy was so friendly and helpful - and the breakfasts were wonderful. Sandy was also very accommodating to our special dietary needs. It was a quick drive to Elizabeth, but we were there for a writer's retreat, so we stayed home most of the time. I would highly recommend it.

Quiet Peaceful Location

This was my 2nd stay. The location is a 20-25 mins drive to Galena and minutes from downtown Elizabeth. The house is cozy & well stocked. Sandy's breakfasts are amazing! If you leave there hungry, that's on you! I would definitely come back

Comfy space, delicious breakfast!

Phenomenal Stay

Our group was blown away by our host’s hospitality. The Derinda House B&B is a great value for a small group or family to take in the charm Jo Daviess & the greater Galena area has to offer. We are regulars to this part of Illinois and this VRBO is unquestionably a step above. Let Sandy host your next gathering, you will not regret it

Girls weekend 2024

This was the second year staying here and it is so nice, comfy and the breakfast Sandy makes is amazing!!! Such a great way to start our day of shopping and just bumming around. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a stay out of the town of Galena. Thank you Sandy!!!

Weekend in Galena

Wonderful B&B !

Sandy was an excellent host! The breakfasts were delicious and the rooms are charmingly decorated. The beds are all very comfortable. The nearby distillery and antique market were fun activities. Would not hesitate to stay at Derinda House again.

College roommate’s reunion

Three former college roommates reconnected after many years and this house was perfect for a lot of catching up. Very quiet, beautiful deck and outdoor space, delicious breakfasts, comfortable furnishings, close to Galena. Sandy, our host, was very helpful with suggestions of what to do and where to eat. And the extra touches- fresh baked goods, ice tea, and coupons for a free glass of wine at Fried Green Tomatoes, was very much appreciated.

Girls Trip couldn't have gone better

Sandy's location is excellent. Out of the crowded Galena area, but close enough for an easy drive over for the day (about 20 - 25min traffic based). Breakfast was delicious and different every morning - Sandy will work with your dietary restrictions - talk with her about it. The space was large - entire upstairs with it's own kitchen if you prefer to cook your other meals yourself. Deck is lovely with a great view - could hardly believe how many stars in the sky. We enjoyed a fire in the firepit area, talking and discussing the adventures of the day. 3 bedrooms all reasonablely sized. 1 en-suite bath with shower. Large full bath in hall for other two rooms to share. Great location to also do some hiking, see the falls at Apple Canyon, hit the local wineries (3 close by) and even get to Iowa to check out Crystal Lake Cave. All in all a fantastic long weekend and we plan to book again!

Great House and Great Breakfast!

My 2 friends and I stayed for 4 nights for a few days of shopping and hiking in and around Galena. The house was charming filled with antiques Sandy had acquired. The beds provided were exceptionally comfortable. We loved sitting outside on the deck for meals or just to relax. Sandy would provide amazingly delicious breakfasts daily and even provided recipes for some cookies she made for us. She informed us of several places to visit that she would recommend to us. The only thing of note worth mentioning is there were quite a bit of ladybugs around the house. They did not bite, get into the food or irritate us in any way. However we felt it should be mentioned should it be an issue for others. It was otherwise a perfect stay and would love to come back!
