We loved our stay at R & R Ranch. Becky, the hostess, was helpful and easy to contact when we had questions, both before and during our stay.
We hosted two separate groups during our weekend at R & R. On New Year's Eve, we had our 18 year old daughter's friends stay for the night - the kids ate, played games (we brought our own Spike ball set, and plastic baseball bat & wiffle ball), explored the land, and just enjoyed being together. There was plenty of room for all the kids to spread out, and many beds to choose from. The girls stayed upstairs in the bunk room (4 twin over queen bunks), and the guys were split between three of the four downstairs bedrooms. It was too dry for fireworks on the property, but we could see fireworks all around us in adjacent neighborhoods.
The next night, once the older kids left, we hosted a birthday sleepover for our 12 year old daughter and 7 of her girlfriends. The younger group enjoyed jumping on the trampolines, roasting s'mores, and lots of games, dancing, and giggling.
Things I wish we had brought:
1. Shower shoes or flip-flops (there are 3 full bathrooms downstairs, 1 full bathroom upstairs - all with showers only, no bathtubs.) Two of the downstairs bathrooms are in the hallway by the 4 downstairs bedrooms. Highschool boys are, ahem, not the tidiest!
2. More outdoor games: corn hole or a volleyball would have gotten much use.
3. A good chef's knife. The kitchen is REALLY well stocked, but for chopping a heap of veggies, the knives are just not up to the task. Several of the knives have a coating (non-stick?) that was sloughing off onto everything that they touched.
Things we brought that the house didn't have:
1. Electric griddle (this was indispensable for cooking for a big crowd!) We made loads of eggs, bacon & turkey bacon, grilled cheese, and avocado toast. We were prepared to make french toast & pancakes, but, miraculously, the kids got full!
2. Dutch oven - There are a few larger pots, but none as big as we needed for the batch of chili we made (serving 18). The one pot that is big enough is super tall and looked like aluminum, so we used our own from home.
3. Cast iron skillet for that yummy crust on the cornbread.
Other notes:
The sunsets are glorious! Don't miss them!!
The house has many games and puzzles in the laundry room: poker chips, playing cards, Mexican train, etc.
Each bed has a thin quilted coverlet, so if you like something heavier, I recommend bringing your own down comforter.
