Vermont’s famous foliage season has begun! Visit us in the heart of the mountains, and enjoy it from this spacious, comfy home base. We’re a ¼ mile walk from Mad River Glen’s weekend foliage lift rides. The nearby countryside offers hiking, biking, golf, shopping, and great views.
Guests can sip a hot beverage on the sundeck, or relax and admire the view through a wall of windows. The house has 2 floors for guests, 2 baths, wifi, washer/dryer, parking, and a large boot room with lots of space for gear. It's a great home base in the heart of the Green Mountains.
More Details:
The first floor consists of a large boot room with laundry and generous space for equipment, an open living, dining and kitchen area with ceiling-high windows, and a large curtained bedroom area with full bath and sliding glass door to the back yard. A unique circular staircase takes you to the main floor, with an open floor plan for the kitchen, dining and living rooms. When the weather is nice, the large sundeck provides space to enjoy the outdoors. When it’s cold outside, guests can enjoy the view through another wall of windows, or relax and watch the HDTV with cable. A full bath and main bedroom make up the rest of the second floor. There is also a child's alcove off the master bedroom.
Sleeping: There is a king bed in the main bedroom, with a new memory-foam mattress. The queen bed in the downstairs bedroom is also brand-new memory foam. There’s also a daybed/child’s bed just off the main bedroom with new mattress as well. All beds have two new pillows with different levels of firmness, and microfiber pillowcases, to ensure a comfortable rest for everyone.
The house is on Schuss Pass, a private road which runs into and past the Mad River Glen ski area. We’re approximately a ¼ mile walk from the Basebox. For variety in outdoor terrain, we’re 10-15 minutes from Sugarbush and Mt. Ellen. For those who don’t ski or hike, it’s 10 minutes to the many shops, restaurants, movies and other attractions in Waitsfield, 30 minutes to Waterbury (home of Ben & Jerry’s and Green Mountain Coffee), and 45 minutes to the city of Burlington.
The house has most conveniences including washer/dryer, new dishwasher, internet, and flatscreen HDTV with cable. We have just finished updating our water system, and also have an instant hot/cold water cooler for those who prefer bottled.
Also, please be aware that we are located in a rural area - you will run into wildlife here. Mice, deer, turkeys, raccoons, foxes, porcupines, bobcats, opossums, coyotes, moose, hawks, even bears! are all part of the landscape and charm of the location.
