The Dyfi Valley is first class for walking and wildlife watching, and you can do both during your break at this cosy cottage, which is located in a small hamlet between the coast and Cambrian Mountains. Wander the wooded riverside footpath from your doorstep and discover the RSPB’s Ynys-Hir nature reserve, which has numerous trails and viewing hides. Nearby, Ynyslas Visitor Centre gives access to the Dyfi National Nature Reserve and sits on the edge of the largest sand dunes in Ceredigion; stroll south to Morfa Borth and at low tide enjoy 3 miles of golden sand. Inland, Pumlumon is the highest peak in the Cambrian Mountains, start your ascent from the Nant-y-Moch Reservoir (14 miles). Alternatively, join the Glyndŵr's Way National Trail from the vibrant market town of Machynlleth, home to quirky shops, MOMA Wales, which showcases inspiring Welsh art and crafts and the oldest street market in Britain. There’s more local history at Dyfi Furnace, a perfectly-preserved example of Welsh industrial heritage.
