Escape to The Coach House, a converted 1800s barn from the Tredethy House estate, nestled in the countryside nr Bodmin. This luxurious cottage combines period charm with modern comfort. The welcoming ground floor has a well-equipped kitchen/living space perfect for gatherings, plus a king-size bedroom with ensuite. Upstairs, a king bedroom opens to a balcony with rural views, with a small double next door. Both share a family bathroom. Outdoor seating & private parking ensure a relaxing getaway!
The Space:
Welcome to the Coach House, a charming rural getaway in the heart of the north Cornwall countryside. Tucked away along a country lane, in the centre of a little courtyard, The Coach House is perfect for cosy winter weekends away as well as lazy summer stays. And with the breathtaking Atlantic coast, trendy hotspots of Rock and Port Isaac, and the wild open moorland all within easy access, you won't ever want to leave!
Behind the stone facade of this mid-terrace cottage is a beautifully presented home, surprisingly spacious with wonderful high ceilings; a nod to its origins as the original coach house to Tredethy House. The interiors are warm and welcoming, with the open plan living-room being the main event. The place for all to gather and create cherished memories together. The galley kitchen is perfect for cooking up some holiday feasts and with Cornwall firmly on the foodie map, you can get creative with some of the finest local ingredients. Cosy up in the living area for a film night on the smart TV, indulge in some holiday reading or simply enjoy some downtime - come on you deserve it, you are on holiday!
The beautiful bedrooms and ultra comfy beds beckon for a blissful night's sleep. For those who are less mobile or prefer some privacy, one bedroom is on the ground floor. A delightful room styled in restful tones, which has its own en suite shower-room. From this room you access the outside terrace, a private spot away from the main courtyard, perfect for al fresco dining, meanwhile the main bedroom upstairs has the luxury of a balcony which takes centre stage in the courtyard, the perfect spot to start the day with a morning cuppa surveying all that surrounds you.
Guest Access:
Guests have access to the whole house and the outside terrace.
The Neighborhood:
From this stunning base, your choice of days out is endless. Dust off those walking boots and explore the wild, rugged scenery of Bodmin Moor - you're just a 10-minute drive. Or head to the coast and take the South West coastal path that promises stunning vistas around every corner.
If you prefer pedal power, the Camel Trail is only half a mile down the road, winding its way through woodlands and along the Camel Estuary eventually bringing you to the popular resort of Padstow where you can refuel on some of Rick Stein's fish and chips before making the return journey (many other delicious food options available). Whilst if you prefer water-based activities, several of Cornwall's best surfing beaches are only 35-40 minutes drive. Fistral, Watergate Bay and Constantine Bay to name a few!
The local historic houses and gardens of Pencarrow and Lanhydrock are well worth a visit as are the pretty fishing villages of Boscastle and Port Isaac - of Doc Martin and Fisherman's Friends fame. And if food is on the agenda, this area is the jewel in Cornwall's foodie crown, with more celebrity chefs and award-winning eateries than you can shake a stick at.
The vast and rugged Bodmin Moor is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with much of it declared a Site of Specific Scientific Importance. This ancient location is home to mystical standing stones, old buildings dating from medieval times and thousands of years worth of tin mining heritage. There are plenty of beautiful walks to discover, with challenging climbs up some of the tallest spots in Cornwall, offering fantastic far-reaching views towards both the north and south coast on fine days.
And for friends in Germany that might be inspired by one of Cornwall’s literary greats. Rosamunde Pilcher’s TV series is based on her books when she was located in the county, despite leaving for Scotland after her marriage in 1946. Her childhood home inspired many of her novels - which have since been adapted to form the basis for a German television series made up of over 100 episodes. Taking place against the stunning Cornish backdrop, the series features the county’s iconic beaches, breathtaking coastline and impressive architecture.
Getting Around:
The property has private parking on the driveway which is freely available for you to use. For those travelling by public transport, trains operated by Great Western Railway run all the way from London Paddington (and other major cities) to Bodmin Parkway. This is then around 13 minutes drive to the cottage. Additionally, Newquay also has an international airport which is around a 40 minute drive. You can either get a taxi here or rent a car for the rest of your trip.
Interaction with Guests:
We will be available via message, phone or email for the duration of your stay. If you have any queries or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out!
