Hikers and cyclists will love easy access to the famous Tarka Trail, ideal for exploring the dramatic North Devon coastline. For more adventure, head to Westward Ho! (5 miles) for typical seaside fun and some thrilling water sports including surfing. Across the estuary lies the picturesque fishing village of Appledore (5.5 miles), known for its narrow streets and bustling quayside which can be also accessed from Instow by a summer seasonal running ferry. Instow itself has fantastic pubs, restaurants and the delightful Glorious Oyster cafe, serving seasonal seafood with – if you’re there at the right time – a side of live entertainment. Fun family days out are easy with The Big Sheep, The Milky Way (both 5 miles away) and North Devon Water Wake Park (12.5 miles) all nearby. Further afield discover the stunning beaches at Saunton Sands and Croyde and woodland and moorland walks on Exmoor National Park.
