Just steps away

Just Steps away from Beautiful beach!!! The house is was great for what we needed! It was a little tired but overall clean! The outside needs some up keep but nothing that affected our trip! We would stay again!

We had a wonderful time with our family and had a family member get married. The house was centrally located to what we were doing and made it easier to get to a from the wedding ceremony. But the house, as indicated by others is in a state of renovation. A few examples are, the light over dining room table was partially broken and held together with scotch tape, no screen on the screen door for the sliding door in the kitchen. Windows need to be seriously cleaned with bugs all over them. The worst part was garbage left all over the back and side yards along with under the front and back deck next to the kitchen. Two garbage cans next to the front door was also filled with garbage, which I felt should not be up to us to call to get cleaned up. I will say it was much different inside the house where everything was clean and ready for us to use the house. Also, the listing indicates that there was a hot tub available and there wasn’t one. If the house ever gets the renovations finished and cleaned up we feel the house will be a gem on Lake Superior

Great stay! We had one little issue and Ken offered to fix it right away. Comfortable beds. Listened to soothing Lake Superior waves all day and night. Very enjoyable!

Quiet get away

Large house with lots of room! We are a family of 7 and there was definitely room for more. The views are great and falling asleep with the windows open listening to the waves was perfect! The house is under a bit of construction but we didn’t mind, nothing that prevents you from living life normally. The yard is in need of a clean up but again nothing that prevents you from living life. The beach is beautiful!!

Nice stay

Ken was on top of any of our needs! Love the location and was a very good place outside for our dogs. Needs a little up keep but nothing that hindered our comfort. We will be back this summer and really looking forward to it!!

AWFUL! Not worth the $$$ at all.

Piss stains everywhere, completely unfinished, no amenities, creep, not homey. No cable/dish, Wi-Fi-only GOOD thing. No batteries in the remotes, nothing, nothing, nothing. On Lake Superior? Yup. Can you access it? NOPE! Awful, bad bad bad.

Fun and amazing views on the Lake!!!

My mom wanted to go rock hounding and this was the perfect spot for it! We took a day trip to Grand Marais and Au Train which was about 2 hours away. The rest of the time we hung out on our own private beach. There are neighbors but they were very quiet and super friendly. We only saw two other people the whole four nights we were there. There are a lot of stairs inside and out. My mom is in her late 70’s and was pretty tired by the end of our stay. Everything listed in the reviews is correct but did not affect our stay in any way. Note that any mention of spiders were all outside. Ken was very helpful. We left the coffee pot on and I didn’t realize until we were two hours into our day trip. We reached out and he stopped by to shut it off and let us know all was good. I would definitely stay here again! We were also able to see the Northern Lights for the first time and had the most perfect view for it!!!

Excellent location, home not ideal for small children

Had a wonderful time in the UP, house is centrally situated for Eastern UP activities, enjoyed the time we spent on the beach, house is in some state of renovation (seems it has been for a while), but for us the location (central/beach) made it perfect in spite of the ongoing repairs. Owner responded immediately to a problem that we had (the problem was ours, not his).

This property was mediocre. House had a lot of spiders. Rooms were as described. The property should have provided more and better towels. Towels were limited for the shower and they were thin. The dryer was not working.

The house was beautiful and right on Lake Superior! Location was awesome for all the sightseeing we did, wasn’t far from most of the places we went to! The owner was quick to respond to any needs we had while there! Neighbors were all very friendly!

Cool weather getaway

The setting of this house cannot be beat. It has been a wonderful home, but it is in need of some care. The landscape was a bit overgrown and some minor repairs are needed inside. Overall, it was great, and we would stay again. The sound of the waves on the shore made up for any small negative items.

So disappointing

Carpet in living room was disgusting, with more dog excrement stains than you could count Every sq ft had stains. Kitchen floor dirty. Insects in and on top of ice cubes. Rented this home excited to be on Superior. Furniture on master deck was filthy. Only one working light in kitchen over sink; had to use cellphone flashlight to see how to regulate stove and see if fish was done. Dog biscuits on dinner plates in cabinet, plastic glasses dirty. Master toilet lever was pulled out of tank.; worked sometimes. Owner acknowledged that nasty carpet needs to be “yanked out”. We had planned on staying 3 nights, but left the following am , happy to get in Best Western. We VRBO several weeks a year, and this ranks in the top 2 of bad experiences. Note that the foyer picture is beautiful , but don’t walk in any direction from it. Several holes in Sheetrock, house was obviously unfinished. Owner said he would refund 2 unused nights, but it would be more fair for a full refund.

Located in woods on Whitefish Bay. Good beach access. The house is located in quite area only noise was waves on the shore. Very helpful property manager responded to pre trip questions and checked with us while at property.

Beach was beautiful which was what we wanted.

While the property itself was in need of repair/finishing and the carpets were stained the location and beach were exceptional. It’s a remote cabin feel for sure but close to attractions. Again like others have said, the house is still under construction (which seems too long at this point); vents were missing, electrical was exposed and the carpets were stained. I think if projects were finished, carpets were replaced and the front appearance was cleaned up this would improve the experience.

Definitely not worth the money!

We checked in and the cleaning lady was still cleaning which was no big deal but the carpets were soaking wet because the previous people had a dog that must have done his business in the house so they cleaned the carpet. So not so comfortable walking around with shoes on the whole time. No satellite TV. The owner was a prick to talk with. But location was awesome. I feel he should have offered us a discount to have to put up with wet stinky floors.

Back away.

We entered the driveway and when we saw the house it looked almost abandoned. There were weeds and grass, some of which were waist high, and bushes and trees that have been allowed to grow to the point of hiding front and reaching the roof. The weeds made it feel unsafe to even walk around outside for fear of catching ticks and fleas. On the front porch, which is unfinished and a hazard for young children, there were two large containers of used cans and bottles. These are a breeding ground for mosquitoes and flies. No hand rails beside the steps, be careful! Inside we found all sorts of incomplete or half done items, some of which were safety code violations. The smoke detectors have no batteries and probably do not work. There are no outdoor lights around the entry ways or anywhere else on the house. There is a light fixture above the kitchen table with a broken glass globe that is only held in place with what appears to be paper surgical tape. There was an empty television box across the entry to the basement with a sign the forbids entering. Behind that box is an unfinished pocket door hanging on rollers. If you accidentally leaned or fell against it you would probably fall down the basement stairs. There are several switches on the walls that control nothing, I'm guessing some were planned for outside lights but never finished. There is a sliding door from the kitchen area to the outside deck that does not lock (we bought a piece of wood to place in the track in order to secure the door). That same door has a screen frame, but no screen, so we could not open it during the day for fresh air inside. In the kitchen the single lever faucet has not been secured, and moves around as you try to turn on the water and swing the spout. The dish washer is broken (top rack does not wash). The island has not been attached to the floor and the counter top on the island has not been fastened down. If you happen to lean against it, it will move. The downstairs bathroom is not finished and has broken and missing mirrors. The walls above the tub/shower enclosure are cement board unfinished. Virtually everywhere you look there is half done work. Most of the windows are covered with spider webs to the point it interferes with vision. Upstairs we were greeted with heavily stained carpet. The master bathroom is not finished. There is a whirlpool tub and the enclosure is unfinished so you can see all the plumbing and dirt underneath. A lot more!

Great location but needs major maintenance

The location is fabulous and the house was once a nice house. Our first indication of problems was when we drove up to an overgrown yard almost obscuring the house. The deck that is pictured overlooking Lake Superior is in pieces on the ground - and it appears that is not something that just happened. The back door does not lock and there are holes in various places where varmints can get in.
